When buying stuff in Dust514 and you are in the Australian or New Zealand region you get charged almost double the price as everyone else. (mercenary pack is $37.95 not $20 as advertised)

I have petitioned CCP and they said this is controlled by Sony.

I then petitioned Sony and they said

":We regret to inform you that the Dust514 website is American based, and therefore prices on that site cannot be
 guaranteed across each region. "

I play EVE and I do not pay double from everyone else. Why should I pay double for Dust514?

CCP please can you address this issue.

Does anyone else have an issue with this?

Indeed. Seems Sony screwed up. Even if they use the exchange rate it would be $25NZD and roughly the same price in AUD. Clearly they're using the physical* gaming import rates for Oceania for virtual game pricing.

*We pay roughly 80-100% more for a physical game in Oceania "because it costs so much to get them here".

Yes it's $29.95 for the merc pack in aus and $14.95 for the starter $147.50 for the $99.99 pack not sure ccp can do anything it's only frustrating when our dollar is matching the American , wish Sony would at least fluctuate prices based on the market was going to buy all the eventually but $250 is to much .

Sony change their prices based on a bunch of things like average wage in the country they are selling to, average age of gamer, etc.

CCP can't really do anything about it and Sony are seriously unlikely to.

 Fair trade act

 availabiliTy and special oFFers
Whether or not a business is selling goods or services online, or simply using a website as a
marketing tool to complement its retail presence, it must have systems in place to ensure
information on its website is up to date and accurate.
Many consumers will research the price of goods or services online before they commit
to making a purchase in store GÇô and often this is the main reason they go into that store.
Consumers are entitled to expect that the price advertised online is the price that they will
pay for those goods. Businesses must ensure that they have effective systems in place so
that representations made about price and availability are consistent across all channels,
including websites, print advertising and on the shop floor.

I would say a double in price breaches this.

I petitioned this over 6 months ago on and got a similar response, CCP think that its ok to do false advertising because someone else sets the prices.

Unfortunate I think someone is going to have to report CCP to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) before they change their behaviour.

Maybe i will get around to it.

To all you people offering reasons why Sony does this, nothing justifies a price hike of this amount. The Australian Government has been investigating this issue, along with asking various of these companies to justify their prices. So far, the little justification they've bothered to give has been very weak.

Higher minimum wage in Australia? You need very little in the way of a physical presence in a country to sell digital goods. CCP runs EVE Online quite fine without (so far as I am aware) an Australian presence. Valve manages to sell its digital games to Australians at the same price as everyone else.

Taxes? As far as I am aware, there is minimal or no tax currently for purchasing these kinds of goods online. In fact, this is one reason retail Australian stores have been complaining -- people who run online stores can avoid taxes and therefore sell at a lower rate. Dust 514 game packs are digital only, purchased online, so shouldn't have an issue with taxes. Although, I don't know much of the details on this.

Pure and simple, it seems like this price hike is greed, and it's ridiculous greed at that. Perhaps, CCP, you should offer an alternative method to purchase these Dust 514 items? If Sony is going to overcharge us, what can *you* do to protect your customers? Can you offer Australian and NZ customers more in their purchases for the extra price we pay, to avoid Sony's price? Can we buy directly from you via alternative methods?

There must be *something* you can do to stop the company you chose to work with from ripping us off.
