In a game where every decision you make is supposed to define your character, the one, most basic aspect of all, race, makes no difference in the game whatsoever when it should affect the game more drastically; in particular, with dropsuits.
What doesnt make sense to me is that you can choose a race, yet wear any other race's dropsuits besides your own? This doesnt make sense storywise. Lets say every race hates the Amarr, yet on the battlefield u see caldari, gallente and mins wearing amar assaut and heavy suits. What i would have liked to see is race specific suits and race specific battles (like caldari vs gallente) similar to MAG. In MAG, every faction hated each other so it created a sense of racial pride and an incentive to completely crush the opposition and i think CCP should have implemented a similar aspect. But now, since anyone can choose any dropsuit to specialize in, there is no "team spirit" to win, theres no pride, its just a binch of lone wolves on the battlefield pretending to work as a team.
However, I know CCP wont go in that direction, however, in the very least, i would like to see racial bonuses apply to only that race. For example if i was Caldari but wear Gallente suit, i DO NOT get the Assault or Logi bonus, but if i were Gallente and wore Gallente suits i DO get the bonus. This way, race sctually means something while having the option of investing into other racial suits if they want their slot lineup/cpu/pg/base stats. |

Everyone should start with all choosen racial basic dropsuits skills at 3. Yup, I said it.
If you pick ammar you should get the light medium and heavy at 3. Because this is core to the game, and there are still over 30 years of skills to train. You'd still have 3 other races to train into basic suits.
Make people pay AUR to use the bonused suits without skills, that's what people want to try before they buy. |

I understand where you are comming from. Amar have the sexiest looking dropsuit (dat trenchcoat), but at the same time, this isnt fashion514. We are at war and each faction hates each other to some degree but in-game it doesnt feel like that. I feels like recess time at an elementary school |

THANK YOU. I've been saying the same thing. Race and Factions doesn't even apply in this game. In FW if i'm Gallente i can fight for Caldari? WTF? The game is mixed up you see people with different race dropsuits on 1 team. And if i'm Gallente I can pick another races dropsuit? LMFAO then whats the F*** point of having a Faction and Race??? Whats the point of the Story? Same with PC were in the same Alliance fighting each other over planets?? This game is just thrown together without any true thought. |

But once your out of the academy you would have to forge your own path. Please CCP give out some starter skills, but only in the form of dropsuit skills. No weapons, no support. However drpsuit skills? Come on it's all we do, we are dropsuit mercs after all.
I would be shoved out into the battlefield without at least knowing how to use my own races basic suits.
Give race just a little bit more meaning and help out new players. |

Race determines a lot. Especially things like your immune system.
However since we are really all clone soldiers and only our minds are copied into prebuilt bodies then I guess race wouldn't matter.
Honestly, even skills and such wouldn't really matter. Because of things such as IQ being a fuction of certain brain pattern and connections being made and built in neural pathways. So actually how fast we gain SP would be a fuction of the clone body we were in.
Sounds like something for the SP store, smarter clones. |

While this may be true, when joining a match you dont see a "Corp A will pay X amount of ISK for beating the crap out of Corp B" Therefore, unless we start seeing this happen, then were are not really fighting for money are we? We are blindly shooting other players and wont know what our wage is until the end. In fact, what if a Corp hires you u to fight but only pays 100isk per kill but u didnt know this until the end once you get paid? there is a serious flaw here. |

That makes logical sense, but you would be asking players to pick a suit based on lore before they saw the stats. |

Well isn't CCP adding a training mode? To test weapons and suits? I remember hearing something about it at fanfest. So if that's the case couldn't they make it accessible before even creating a character?
Maybe even add in some NPC drones to shoot at or something. |

Locking suits and factions by your chosen race is ******** and incredibly hard to balance unless all the assault/logi/heavy suits are the same across all races.
Also, my Caldari character in EVE flies Guardians and Scimitars often. It wouldn't make sense for us to be locked in DUST. |

That's asking too much of a new player who downloads the game and wants to jump into a match and shoot someone in the face. They can do that with the starter fits now and wait to skill into a suit many matches later. If you force them to choose early they will quite often pick a suit that doesn't fit their play style. |

It's this thing called ideals. Not everyone will agree with their groups way of doing business or it's politics. There will always be dissenters in any faction, ethnicity, culture or nation. The reason most games or almost all games lock you to a side is it is easier to show everything as black and white instead of realistic shades of gray. |

Lore wise it makes sense that DUST mercs would lose their connection with a faction if not the entire human race.
Capsuleers wear custom clones and rarely die which allows them to remain connected to their past lives. Mercs on the other hand wear generic clones and jump several times per battle. After several months of that how could you even relate to mortals, much less identify with them?
We are far more likely to identify with each other, despite any internal rivalries. Killing each other isn't personal, it's just business. We are all going back to are MQ at the end of the day, so there is no reason we can't get together for a drink after the battle.
After years of battle and watching empires rise and fall we will feel outside it all. The factions created us to serve their ends, but we have become a new race apart from them with our own agenda. Watch the latest EVE trailer for the warning to mortals that we are rising up as a new superior race. |

[edit] And OP, I really hope your "Raging Pack of Homos" corp is as into RP as you seem to be. Must be fabulous.
Race locking hard to balance is true. The only suit that is unbalanced now is caldari assault tanking bc there arent any good weapons against shield other than flux. And armor tanking would make gallenetes super slow unless all gallentes had a +% speed for armor mods. Other than that, the suits seem pretty balanced.
I dont play EVE so i dont understand please elaborate.
My corp name is just a corp name. No different from anyone else's so it is unfair for you to attack ins such an immature manner. Besides, whats wrong with being fabulous? Afterall we ARE playing Fashion514 |
