I have really tried the last few days to play solo in ambush, which is what I did a lot of the time in Chromosome and previous builds. I do enjoy playing in squads, but sometimes I just don't feel like talking or being married to a squad of players for the rest of the night. I liked being able to go on my own in ambush and just have a good time on my own terms, then join a squad when I felt like it. As a solo player I could blast my XMB in-game music, join any match, quit any match at will, go out for a quick smoke, or do whatever I wanted without answering to others.
Sadly with Uprising, playing solo (at least for me in ambush) is 100% out of the question. 99% of every match I join my team or the other team (other team is much more common) has 1-3 full squads of organized players running together. And it tips the match in their favor almost 100%. On my side random bluedots are few and far between, only time they are together is when they are mass blob spawning (due to mass blob slaughter), but they split up very quickly. On the other team is one giant blob of players mowing through the map, and seeing this blob (and if they see me) is pretty much a guaranteed death with little rewards.
Then to add insult to injury is the OB's. If it's not bad enough that I am getting slaughtered by the mass blob of organized squads, I get OB'ed as soon as I spawn from a recent 8 vs 1 death. Because players with 6 member squads can easily get an OB at least once a match, whereas solo players never get OB's (extremely rare).
Yes this game is all about teamwork and all that, but playing solo (at least for me) is nothing but extreme frustration, annoyance, and rage. Only time I can manage to have a decent game (stats wise) and have some fun, is while playing in a squad and being active on the mic. But other than that, I can't enjoy myself in the slightest playing solo. We absolutely need squadless options for gamemodes CCP, because this is ridiculous.

I play solo exclusively (I don't even use a mic!) and I often get in the top ten in pretty basic gear. Just "stay with pack", that's often the key. Look for a clump of blue dots and just in the middle, they'll distract fire from you. When you'r low on health, fall back and let them cover you. Team mates really are helpful in this game, you should keep an eye out for them ;) |

Though Dust is geared for squads, soloing isn't the absolute option. But, like everything in this game, you have to be fitted for it. You can't just run and gun, you need to dictate the terms on your engagements and find targets that will play to your advantage. |

Solo play is entirely possible, it's just dependent on how useful you want to make yourself. Skirmish? Stick back and guard the control point no one is paying attention to; Odds are at least one of the enemies is. Ambush? Flank the enemy and lay down a spawn point, or give covering fire while your teammates set up a little HQ from which to throw down more bullets. You don't have to be in a squad to make a difference, but you do have to realize your limitations and your options. |

This is why I switched to scout. It's still a team player role, but you don't need to be right next to your guys to do your job. In fact, it's detrimental as they will only give your position away. But anyways not only can I get behind the enemy and hack stuff, but I can also play rabbit and lead groups of enemies either away or into friendlies. I can also drop uplinks to get players into position for an assault. Basically, if I'm doing my job well I can make a group of unorganized blue berries look like organized squads. |

So, let's review OP:
You wrote a QQ dissertation suggesting that tactics should be nerfed. You wrote a sequel suggesting that an important game mechanic to be removed from ambush because you're too lazy to use its effective counter. You made another topic claiming that CCP is catering to M/KB users that got debunked by a dev quote saying the contrary and now you're back to QQing about squads in a game based on teamwork because you refuse to change your tactics accordingly. Keep going, I think you still have a bit more credibility to spare... |

The list of things you can't do without a squad is now bigger than the list of things you can. The only way to kill anyone at range anymore, is with several people & focused fire. Up close and you'll be having a dance off sooner than a shootout, ruling out sneak attacks with anything other than a dedicated nova knifer. The options for solo play shouldn't be limited to rudimentary ancilliary logi work. |

I'll grant you that the combat needs work, but I'm trying to show that playing solo is still entirely viable, and that just because you aren't in a squad doesn't mean you can't contribute. Being part of a squad means working with others to help overtake the enemy, but being part of the team means doing whatever you can to help win. If I can badger the enemy team, help provide supplies for mine, and ensure our spawn points are well defended while still barely gaining WP or ISK? Then yeah. You're part of a team, even if it's a temporary one. Don't think about how you can benefit from the match, but what you can do to ensure you're beneficial to the team. |

I wasn't challenging anything you said. I agree that solo play is entirely viable. The trouble is that the options available are now so limited. Not least in the vanilla combat area. For someone like me, who isn't spectacular in gun game, solo AR just isn't an option anymore. |

1. You can squad swing from match to match or start your own squad at the beginning and let people join, then leave when you're bored. Just put that defend order on somebody and use the frakking OB.
2. Also playing solo is OK when you're infiltrating and setting up uplinks. Also removing campers is extra fun due to Scrambler headshot bonus and Novas buff. AV denial is also OK solo, but will probably die with HAV/LAV HP buff. You can not do frontal assaults, nor slay solo, because solo will lose to a squad every time.
3. Finally you can join the blob of randoms and run along. It's not for everybody, but works.
But if you're too 1337 to do any of that -- just leave. There are many single player games, nobody forces you to play multipl

As far as your threads go, I disprove of your logic towards watering everything down. You contradicted yourself on several occasions. When your post is devalued, you try to use new players as a crutch to try to win your selfish argument. The latter of which doesn't give new players credit. Devs have mentioned before that they're working on matchmaking for high security systems for rookies, so you can stop using that argument. I think you want this game to be a CoD clone with a placebo spread sheet, and I'll argue to the death on why it shouldn't.

You get why this is such a common cycle though, right? Every time I get one of those kills where you know the other guy is going to be raging about it (LOL SURPRISE SHOTGUN), I imagine them running to the forums and posting a QQ thread about how, because their personal fit did not effectively counter the fit I used to roll them, the game is broken and must be changed to better suit the way they play, no matter how stupidly they play.

The other "cryhards" QQ in a circlejerk and spam the forums with threads about it until CCP rides in on Sepnir, swinging their Nerf Mjolnir while the people using that game mechanic were only playing the game as intended and specialized in their effective counter, or the said "cryhard" didn't care about things like balance, counter play, or effective counter and wants to be the best at everything without being one of the best in a game of rock paper scissors.

Have you ever thought of turning your mic off in squad or just muting yourself and going out for a smoke between ques and such? Unless it's hellstorm's requirement you don't have to be on comms for instant ques as they are not hard fights usually. The squads I'm in rarely communicate about the match anymore, usually now we are just joking around while we murder random red dots. In my opinion adding a solo que other than an initial newbie que for new players to learn in would be detrimental to the game. I say this because I notice A LOT more players solo que that squad up meaning fulls squads would end up playing the other 5 or 6 squads that are currently running over and over and over again. The current mechanics encourage players to seek out squads and corps, whereas a solo que option might prevent many players from ever engaging in the community. |
