Solo play is entirely possible, it's just dependent on how useful you want to make yourself. Skirmish? Stick back and guard the control point no one is paying attention to; Odds are at least one of the enemies is. Ambush? Flank the enemy and lay down a spawn point, or give covering fire while your teammates set up a little HQ from which to throw down more bullets. You don't have to be in a squad to make a difference, but you do have to realize your limitations and your options. |

You don't have to be in a squad to make a difference, but you do have to realize your limitations and your options. The list of things you can't do without a squad is now bigger than the list of things you can. The only way to kill anyone at range anymore, is with several people & focused fire. Up close and you'll be having a dance off sooner than a shootout, ruling out sneak attacks with anything other than a dedicated nova knifer. The options for solo play shouldn't be limited to rudimentary ancilliary logi work.
I'll grant you that the combat needs work, but I'm trying to show that playing solo is still entirely viable, and that just because you aren't in a squad doesn't mean you can't contribute. Being part of a squad means working with others to help overtake the enemy, but being part of the team means doing whatever you can to help win. If I can badger the enemy team, help provide supplies for mine, and ensure our spawn points are well defended while still barely gaining WP or ISK? Then yeah. You're part of a team, even if it's a temporary one. Don't think about how you can benefit from the match, but what you can do to ensure you're beneficial to the team. |
