If it were up to me, which it clearly isn't, I would make forge guns do 30% less damage to dropships than to group vehicles, but considerable more knockback damage. The idea being basically that since the vehicle is in flight, some of the forge gun damage is lost to knockback, in essence the dropships "gives" more under a direct hit than a ground vehicle would.
This would make forge guns and swarm launchers particularly useful when used together, since the forge could kill the momentum and mess of the pilots approach/escape and thus giving the swarm launcher more time to lock on and score a hit.
Good forge gunners could even set up in waiting and knock unsuspecting pilots into walls and make them take extra damage that way as well.
As is, that first forge gun shot is basically a freebie, and the second one will finish off all but the most tanked out dropships. It's like if a scrambler pistol could drop a prototype assault suit in two body shots. |

That is the problem with these people calling for a FG nerf. They use cheap gear with no tank and then expect it to be some super awesome death machine. I have shot many a drop ship that laughed at my FG and then few into cover to rep up and come back again providing air cover. Plus the high damage FG has a 6 second base root. That means that while the forge gunner is charging his weapon he is a sitting duck. So quit complaining and get good. Problem is a 1.5 million DS with all proto modules speced for defense still can't survive the second hit. edit: from even some militia forge... And a hulk can be killed by a cheaply fitted destroyer. Pro tip, don't fly what you can't afford to lose.
You completely miss the point again. It's not about being able to afford them, it's not that we are QQing about losing them, it's that they have no worth. If they remain as they are they may as well just remove them. We're trying to give feedback on how to make them into something useful that reward the pilots in a fair way and makes people want to fly them.
We get it, you like blowing up dropships, but if you don't give pilots a reason to fly them your forge gun will be worthless when no one uses vehicles anymore. You get up there and fly around and let me shoot you down all day, we'll see how long you last before you say "screw this, what's the point?" and want to switch back to forge gunning. |
