I wonder how much damage a Proto Minmatar Scout can do with the Ishukone knives. Then maybe with a complex sidearm modifier. I imagine they'd be one hit killing even some of the beefier enemies. |

Ok so I did the math. Ishukone Nova Knives do 200.0 base damage. Add 25% from a proto Minmatar Scout and that's 250. Add 10% from a complex sidearm mod (assuming it is then 35% increase) it is then 270. Add 15% from Nova Knife Proficiency and they do 300.
I wasn't sure if this is the charged up damage or not, but then I looked at the scouts default melee damage which is 80. Then I looked at the listed damage on the standard nova knives which is 90. So yeah, this is damage done without even charging them. 300 just for tapping it! Anyone know how much charging it up increases the damage? These things are deadly! |

I just did some more testing and estimated based on number of kills with charged attacks in relation to total damage dealt in the end-of-match stats to be between 560 and 600 HP with zn-28 knives. Although earlier tests hinted at a much higher number of about 748 HP with the charge. Keep in mind these tests were without any passive bonuses to the knives without damage mods.
Note: Nova knives do double damage. So the base stat of 200 is actually 400 for the Ishukone knives without the charge.
Edit: earlier tests were conducted while observing the HP stats that show up on players when you aim at them. Oh wait, so that 300 I estimated is with just one knife? So that would be about 600 base damage without charging if you fully max it out with the Minmatar scout, sidearm modifier, and proficiency skill? That is crazy!
I wonder how the other racial knives are going to work. Nova knives are Caldari, at fan fest they showed images of the other 3. |

[quote=Nazz'Dragg I'll go and say I third this. Nova Knives make a good complementary side weapon for heavy machine gun builds. [/quote]I saw a Heavy just the other day "sprinting" across the map nova knives in hand. It was quite amusing.

What if holding a charge increased your profile signature? Would you still be against charged sprinting? |

So I went on my alt who has around 2 million skill points. Got the Ishukone Nova Knives and wonder why people want sprint with charge in the first place, these knives charge so fast that it really doesn't matter. |

Ninja knifers strive on stealth and will likely just hold off on charging until they are dangerously close to you. EDIT: They also emit a buzzing sound that can be heard by your enemies. Well that was my point exactly. If nova knives increased you scan profile, scouts wouldn't sprint with them fully charged and would wait until the last moment possible to start the charge. And depending on how long the charge up time is, could give the enemy enough time to react. Though after thinking through a few things I am leaning more against this idea. What if someone I'm not targeting sees my blimp on the radar as I kill someone with the charged knives? That defeats the whole purpose of knife kills.

With the STD and ADV knives, you sometimes have to stalk someone for half the map because just a tiny burst of sprint would put them out of your knife range. Also their back peddling is often an issue. Even though you can use modules to change your sprint speed, there's no way to increase your normal non sprint forward speed. Oh I know, last build I only had standard nova knives and the build up was quite a hindrance. But that should be a benefit the prototypes have and make you really want them if you are going with a strictly stealth stabber fitting. I know once I get a respec for my main I am going to get nova knives operation of to 5 before I do anything else just to make sure I don't accidentally run out.
