Question to fellow pilots about the dropship chase camera:
If you use the normal flight control configuration with vertical flight as standard, what do you think about the right camera stick operation?
The current controls assume you apply a real aircraft mental model for the flight stick (pushing the nose down with forward movement) and a picture mental model for the camera where you move the reticle up and down with the camera stick. I personally find that it is completely unnatural and I am reflexively pushing the camera control as if it were another ship or my disembodied consciousness trying to look down over the nose.
A) This isn't a problem for me B) I would be fine with applying the infantry look inversion to the vehicle camera C) I need to be able to select camera look inversion separately from the infantry look inversion |

B for me
Currently, the large majority of my SP was wasted skilling all the way up to Assault Dropships, only to find out that the look inversion that applies to every other single gun and turret in the game doesn't apply to the front mounted gun. |

And on a related note, do you find the camera moves to far with a small adjustment of the stick or is it just fine?
The camera stick is totally positional (i.e. move the stick half way and you will be looking half way every time) so you can't use turn rate to adjust that without changing that completely.
A second problem with a positional camera is that at full throw (i.e. looking over the top of the ship) you loose all yaw control.
So would you:
A) Keep the positional nature of the camera B) Make the camera behave like the infantry 1st person camera where it stays where you put it with a possible "centering" mechanism triggered by R3. |

A B It can feel like I'm fighting the camera at times, and the way it resets as soon as you release pressure on the stick makes things much more awkward than they should be. |
