its ridiculous that the AR's have a reach of less then 100 meters. You got to be kidding me, a bow and arrow can shoot further then that and your telling me that a highly advanced interstellar army doesnt have the ability to maker their bullets reach over a 100 meters.
Stop listening to all the whiners and make a game that actually works. If you are going to release this garbage on the 14th your going to have one hell of a job of keeping players on. |

I like the new range of the weapons. It just means that some of us has to come down from that roof and get dirty. More 1v1's instead of AR snipefests.

it is funny to think that with all the tec that eve has if by somehow magic a war broke out with us as in us here right now we would win because we can shoot more an than 67m with an ar but you know what ccp i guess you dont need to shoot out to 100 m when your shooting your self in the foot great job ccp just keep fixing all the **** that 12 year olds want and see how far you get. |

its not about rooftop shooting. The AR distance doesnt even cross a street, thats just crazy. I understand they would decrease the range of the weapons, but add like a bulletdrop or something. It just stops in midair. The distance right now is just ridiculous bad. |

this distance prevent rooftop camping, prevent red-zone camping, prevent head-glitch-shooting from far distance.
This distance make game more intense, more tactical, more teamplayable.
So range is perfect now.
dont be scary with going close to enemy and kill him. Learn how to play in new circumstances. |

It's short range because it's a Blaster Rifle. If you want range, wait for the Scrambler Rifle or better yet, buy a Sniper (Railgun) Rifle. |

I play a lot of BF3, and people kill and are killed at many ranges, getting close is necessary for capping flags and there usually is TONS of cover for people who thrive in that range giving good opportunities for SMGs and Shotguns.
In DUST, my assault rifle will not kill a target across a room/courtyard, we can both see each-other well, but we must run into the middle just to get hits while jumping strafing like idiots to get good transversal off eachother to dodge bullets... Doesn't feel like a shooter... feels like a crazy gun-slinging cowboy hoedown shooting all over the place until an accident happens.
I mean, the visceral point and shoot is GONE... A target that is easily killable is now just too far away, emptying clips dead on someone only to get no hits... I didn't play any previous versions of DUST so I can't say how it was before, but from a regular shooter player new to this game I can say it's really annoying!
I can understand you'd want to force people to get closer, but they already do to get to objectives or even to outmanuver through cover... There shouldn't be a valid reason for a squad to run in the desert without cover anyhow, getting shot from range would be just what they deserve! Give another goal for LAVs, and dropships! To get infantry accross large distances safe from snipers or Longrange camping ARs.

Yes, i dont want any "realistic" game, all about "realism" in games is bullshit.
I want interesting game. If it require reducing of range - let it be.
And last update made game more interesting. Wanna distance and camping - get sniper rifle.
I tired by brainless and handless campers, who ruin this game. Lets play on CQ battle, circumstances is equal for all now.
Wanna camping? Learn how do it in new circustances, dont cry. Its still possible, but require a little more skill. |

First off, yeah it is an assault rifle, but it is a Gallente Assault Rifle which means blaster in another words.. Blasters in the EVE Universe are meant to be close range weapons and deadly at that range, and I think that they are now how they should be. Plus I think the range is pretty good anyway.. |

well yeah and there is also special ammo to allow them to shoot further. There are also skills to increase range and i believe there should be here also. You can do exactly as they did in the past by making the shots less effective by a percentage dropped based on distance and user skill... but having maxed out skills and weaponry and not being able to shoot across the road is ABSOLUTELY INSANE! Something HAS to be DONE ABOUT THIS! |

Its still possible, but require a little more skill. what part of 67m dont you get at that range the game is not fun no more being able to out think out flank you enemy is key but with a 67m hit range it means i need to get within 40m to 30m just to beable to kill someone an at that range whats the points in ads may as well just remove it an make hip fire the only aim mode we have. look at the way the game plays now everyone is bunched up on everyone trying to get a kill an not be kill its mob vs mob not squad vs squad or player vs player like it was. the last bunch of games i played were outright boreing not being abould to move around not being able to kill what i see this is not war it is just a joke of what this game was close to being last build. |

Bows and arrows are more like sniper rifles. Lots of damage, potential one shot kill, slow rate of fire, limited ammo and, in the case of the English long bow, extremely long range.
Now the modern AR has (according to wikipedia) a range of 300m. They however do not fire plasma rounds nor are they something that has to be balanced for good game play. They need to really kill the enemy and not some bits on a display.
The longest map we have is ~1K. The effective ranges need to be below 100m because they are appear to be trying to force the combat to be close and in your face. As some evidence of same the range of the HMG has been reduced down to 10m. Anything past 15m is just down to luck and is a waste of rounds.
This is a video game and not a simulator like ARMA-II.
Not that I agree with all the changes I am just stating that there are reasons for some of the decisions. |

We have two different camps arguing here. CQCers and Rangers.
The CQCers love this build because it caters to their playstyle. The rangers are not enjoying it as much because now they're being forced into CQC, a playstyle that doesn't really appeal to them.
Now the only range is either sniper or AV. Before, you had your choice of CQC or Range. Average CQCers hated that because a smart player of either playstyle had a good chance to dictate range, unless you were a heavy (LOL). |

CCP should have called the AR the "plasma carbine" and given it bright technicolor bolts.
THis is a short ranged weapon that shoots rounds that burn out after a certain range, but to make up for the lack of range is able to rip through titanium, steel and ceramic plating like a knife through butter.
This isn't an AR like we are familiar with the term. It's a blaster that shoots unstable plasma. If you want to kill at range grab a laser or a sniper rifle. |

i agree with you. forcing people closer is dumb as you just jump and strafe and hope for the best. bring on the scrambler rifle. i feel like they've made room for its range to have a purpose then delayed its release. |

ARs are actually rather well useable in both Long, Medium, and Short ranges. i think they should let there be all types again, because they're stripped down the kinds you can get rather badly. the Breach should be the Cq one, the Tactical should have good range [though reduced ammo] and the standard should be.. well, medium |
