Akhi Rhise wrote:Many of you fail to realize what kind of company CCP is. Unlike most game developers, they do things with the longterm in mind. If you're all about instant gratification, GTFO. And if you need a primer on how CCP works (and the success it has brought them, when developers have come into the spotlight and subsequently died off or burned out), go to the EVE forums and figure out how they scored with that game, which remains unprecedented.
This isn't ******* Battlefield, CoD, or Black Ops, or whatever other low attention span clusterfuck you guys play, this is an actual FIRST in the history of gaming. Play this or go play something else and watch CCP make history while you play the seventh incarnation of CoD. Just keep putting money in the pockets of those greedy cunts who release a new 'version' of their shooter every year.
Your kind are the ones who help break this game further. Yes, your kind sir. |

Essentially, while our launch is on the 14th, we are not going to be doing a full marketing push on the game until further down the line. We believe in taking a more grassroots approach to marketing our games rather than a full on marketing blitz. Thank you for taking the time to answer the question. I admit I have been wondering why SONY/CCP is stealth launching the game to the public. I understand the Grassroots approach, save money on advertising that can hopefully be funneled into the game's development. I just hope there is a community that supports this game whenever you guys decide to start this PR campaign. Because I have to admit I was a little taken aback by how few people are actually on this client (avgs. about 4.5k), I thought it would be in the 10-20k or so mark. And with the next patch bringing new weps and PC, what better time to get the public involved in it. We will see how many people are on during peek hours this weekend. World of Tanks averages 30k+ on the NA server durring peak hours, and around 10k on off hours. Long story short we need a larger playerbase for this game to succeed.
You need a good way to get new players involved in FPS that DOES NOT involve relegating them to PVE stuff. Larger starting SP, uncapped SP and shorter time to specialization with more variety in suits(varying module, cpu, pg, equipment and bonuses both in class and race till you get like idk 80 just in suits as a hypothetical, yea yea i know power creewp whatever this approach isn't working and before the EVE guys quote EVE to me this is an FPS and its on console, understand your market). |

I agree. PvE is a two-edged sword. It retains some people who are newer to FPS and want to ease themselves in but it also becomes too comfortable, aka boring. Another problem with PvE is that players, at least in EvE, feel like they need just one more Billion isk, or just one more skill book, or one more skill to level V before they can start PvPing. Dust, at least, throws you straight into the fight whether you're ready or not. Unfortunately, that also turns off many people when they get deleted by better gear. There's a balanced way to handle the extremes and I hope CCP finds it.

I believe/hope players will diversify once FW, PC, null sec and PvE comes out - and an improved Instant Battle to get players with similar SP playing together.Quote:I believe/hope players will diversify once FW, PC, null sec and PvE comes out - and an improved Instant Battle to get players with similar SP playing together.
That's, easily, one of the games biggest issues, right now. Awful matchmaking. It's the same as it was in open beta. New players are pitted against dudes and dudettes with Duvolles and proto suits with 500 shields and/or amour. No way to compete against that. No way in hell. Don't care what anyone says.

I wouldn't want to show the majority of PSN users the state of the game either, I fully support your decision. Keep up the good work, maybe consider a rename Dust 911? |

i think this is because their not secure in this game being bug free enough for it... I suspect that it will be pushed when they see a more bug free environment. |

It'll be pushed when there are 4 heavies, 4 HAVs, 4 LAVs, 4Scouts, so on.... Before that the game is literally half finished, no more resets but not all tanks out >.> |

It's a shame really. Why not apply everything they've learned from EVE? Communicating early and open. Listen to player feedback (and no, I'm not talking about the QQing). There're plenty of constructive posts.
As of now, they redo Dust every single build. This will be a neverending cycle. |

You're launching the game then telling NOBODY until it sucks less? Oh - oh ho ho - now that's rich. Instead of giving into your companies failures your going to mask and hide to the rest of the world. Amazing PR CCP.
