The Assault Rifle:
Conceived by Duvolle Laboratories, a corporation best known for its ceaseless R&D, the G75-VLB solves many of the problems inherent in mass-manufactured plasma weapons. The result is a weapon that offers improved accuracy and greater containment field stability (which equates to faster, longer bursts of fire) than anything in its class.
It is a magazine-fed, short-to-mid range weapon offering fully automatic fire. Charged plasma munitions are pumped into a cyclotron that converts the plasma into a highly lethal bolt before it is expelled from the chamber. Upon impact with the target, the magnetic field surrounding the bolt collapses, venting superheated plasma onto the contact point.
The part they forgot to tell you:
The POS can now only fire 50 metres. Seriously... I had a super soaker (that's a water gun for the benefit of those who have not heard of it) before that could spray about 25 metres.
A typical present day assault rifle has an effective range of about 500m. Even then if I miss my target who's standing 400m away, someone 1km away could potentially die.
To CCP: Could you at least buff the effective range of all the firearms in Dust? |

I cannot believe sharpshooter doesnt increase ar range anymore. What a shame. I get they are making the scrambler rifle the mid range weapon but goddamn ars are almost useless now. |

The AR isn't "useless' by any means. While the range on it has been reduced, everyone has suffered a similar reduction due to the SS skill being removed. I do agree that the range on it is pretty pathetic. I'm pretty sure a slingshot could shoot farther than some of these guns. I don't think the AR alone needs a range buff, but all guns in general. The maximum range of all guns needs to be increased, or at least add some sort bullet physics to it if need be. I don't understand why bullets simply disappear after about 50-60 meters. This is the damn future, why is it that we can't manage to shoot a projectile, be it plasma or what have you, further than a slingshot could? |

Actually, haven't heard of the laser rifle yet. Nobody has bothered to use that just yet.
Maybe I should skill into hand to hand combat and single handedly take you all down using just Melee combat. |

That's what I said. I'm fine with removing the old sharpshooter skills. But at least buff all the weapon range.
At this moment, I'm still working on believing how this game turned out. |

Did you not see all this talked about like 2 months ago? The game was broken with every AR user having the ability to mow people down at >60m range. That was like 200+ dps in a second. It was a huge nerf to heavies and lights since it meant that the heavy's speed was a death trap and the light frames low HP was its own ruin. It required that all teams have mostly AR/assaults users on their team. It lead to boring twitch combat which is not what CCP wants.
Just get out of your tiny little heads that we should all be fighting like we have been for the last few months. This game has fundamentally changed. |

The ranges in this game are just ******* ********. I don't understand how it's suppose to be more fun to only be able to shoot at the same range you can throw. The HMG now has a range of 15m. 15m litterally is the range you can throw a rock! In rl these things shoot over 2000m. It makes no sense. And it adds nothing to the game play at all to be able to not shoot anywhere. It's a ******* battle field ppl are suppost to die. die from aiming at them and die from stray bullets. |

Shot guns do not need a range buff.
And the AR nerf is the most ridicules (HMG nerf comes in at a very close second place). As original post mentioned rifles have the effective range of 500 meters...this means if your sights are set right the bullet will go where you aimed the rifle....the bullet does not disappear the bullet does not drop off the bullet does not do less damage at this range then at 20 meters.
It is hysterically moronic that for some magical reason Dust weapon makers can't make a rifle that does not equal or even surpass weapons made 50 or 60 years ago (M-16 was first made in the 50s) in the real world.

Then the game 'fundamentally changed' to a complete joke. The maps in Dust are friggin' huge! If CCP had the slightest concern about realism, they should improve the range of all firearms. I just came out of a game where I tested with a buddy the range of the HMG. I laughed damn hard at the result. |

Yes the HMG nerfs are idiotic as well...hell before the nerfs the HMG was idiotic...these things should have much longer ranges and cause way more damage from the start. |

The point blank range of an M-16 is 550 meters.

What we currently call an "Assault Rifle" is actually a Gallente Blaster Rifle. The four racial variants are the Amarr Scrambler Rifle, Caldari Gauss Rifle, Gallente Blaster Rifle, Minmatar Combat Rifle (the only projectile assault rifle).
Blasters fire extremely hot balls of plasma that literally evaporate within a split second. At anything beyond close range, you get hit by the force of a hair dryer set to "hot".
While the exact range (50m, 75m, whatever) is debatable, the weapon is working as described in the lore.
If you notice, all of the Gallente weapons we have are very short range, but nasty. Look at the shotguns- those are plasma weapons as well. |

My thoughts exactly. All guns need a LARGE boost in range, if you can see someone, you should be able to shoot them and vice versa. The only problem with Sharpshooter in the old build was that people who didn't have it complained due to being at a disadvantage. Well, just give the bonus from it to everyone, problem solved. |

howw bout we ALL get out range back (lazer gets half, that thing was obscene)
don't get why everything needed a range nerf, as a heavy, i was FINE with AR ranges as they were.
CCP seems to be trying to ****-off EVERYONE with this build |
