Proto HMG doing 15.4 dmg? I did.
In order to NOT make this a rant thread, or a QQ one. Please share your thoughts / opinions about this.
Bearing in mind the max range nerf also. Yes I'm very aware of the price cut, but CCP said they don't balance stuff according to price. But basically it means, heavies gonna die more often, so make stuff cheaper?
Thoughts please

ill just copy/paste by answer here.
So with our current damage, and with the range nerf, we are going to be really close to take full advantage of our DPS and wide bullet spread, so we really gonna have to camp in a corner inside a room waiting for someone stupid enought to get too close to us.
Because before was hard killing a proto AR with 17 DMG now is going to be even harder to do it with just 15.4

I was expecting a little nerf, but this is a huge nerf! I don't get it. I don't get the reason for such a drastic nerf. |

Definetly not being heavy. A big disappointment that CCP felt the HMG needed a dmg nerf. |

Yes. A laughter of pity. They could have a least made the bullets out of bacon that way it would be delicous for someone who is eating the hundreds or rounds it will take to kill them. |

militia suits yeah...maybe. But these numbers you have don't take into consideration the bullet spread and how much bullets actually LAND on target.
I mean I was ready for a nerf, like I was dead set on playing the class, but after seeing what the proto HMG does... just lol. |

I am going to try but I could down 2-3 people per reload before. How am I going to so that with less damage than before while everyone else got more slots/health? |

The heavy was never supposed to be a "better" assault suit. It was always supposed to be more of a mobile gun platform. Personally I thought nerfing range and dmg was probably a little much with the removal of SS as well. But at the same time I cant feel sorry for the same ppl who only responded to the AR nerf with HTFU even though the complaint about the horrible ADS sight was legit. So I guess if I was really to be the same as you guys I would just saw HAHAHAHAHAH HTFU. But I wont. I would say the dmg nerf with the other 2 changes probably was too much for this gun. Personally I would have waited to see if the range change itself was enough to balance out this gun (which was OP despite what some of you tried to say). |

O rest assured I'll be a fatman and we'll see how it is.
nerfing the gastun to that of an MH-82 is just silly
nothing new tho... the 1 thing NO ONE asked for was to nerf dmg on hmgs, so they do it anyway.
maybe Everything else is nerfed and it will even out....
somehow I doubt it but til I can play it I'll reserve judgement
by the #s tho its just silly |

have to see I guess the damage goes from 15.4 to 17.71
So basically you're wasting those points on a proficiency skill that can be used much better elsewhere. |

A bunch of EvE players who came to dust (their first FPS) and cried about every weapon that killed them. ARs and HMGs were popular so they got the most complaints and so instead of looking at it rationally CCP nerfed them.
I am guessing mass drivers and lasers are next...then after that when CCP looks at their sales data they will notice that every FPS player on the planet plays Dust for two days then leaves...then CCP will discover that "oh yeah in an FPS people want to FPS with stuff that actually kills other players"....that or CCP will go broke and DUST will fail.

looks like we heavys are about to see alot of HEAVY AR fits to compensate for the pure assault loving and heavy hating in this game... :/
maybe next build they will focus on heavy drop suits not scout, medium, logi and think about the poor guy whos spent all his skill points to spec into heavy HMG only to be wiped of by a MLT with an exile... balance has shifted and instead of fearing heavys we get laughed at^^ lol |

you say 'wasting' and honestly I have to laugh.
you DO realize I have well over 14 million SP right?
I don't see it as 'wasting' anything as I will have everything I had last night (except MAYBE lvl 5 nades... we'll see how it plays out with added multiplier for armor and such)

For someone who doesn't play the class to have an opinion in favor of the heavy shows the nerf was too much at the same time. Yea I'm against the nerf, who's playing this game currently that would LIKE a nerf to their class.
But looking at this as objectively as possible, nerfing both range and dmg, the dmg by so much in particular is a lil too much.
Just when I came to grips with the nerf, I see these numbers. Not saying a heavy is suppose to be a slayer, but a heavy is suppose to at least KILL. @ 17.1 it was a challenge.... at 15.4 what is this gonna be? A failure? We'll see. I'm sure other heavies will post their experiences, but looking at what I'm seeing, it doesn't seem right.

I will guess by the suit bonus, Amarr heavy suit is balanced for heavy laser weapon we don't have yet and HMG is balanced for Minmatar heavy suit that will have range bonus and damage bonus. Seems like it is balanced taking in account things we don't have yet, and therefore unbalanced till we have them.
In mean time heavies with laser and scrambler will get bonus from suit to overheat damage reduction.
Hope heavy players get the other suits and weapons soon, kinda sucks for them in mean time. |

Yea I can say this because unlike so many popular posters here on the forums..........when it comes to game balance I am about as objective as they come. In the build before the AR nerf I was one of the ARs saying yea it needs recoil but then we got recoil and a horrible ADS sight. When this was complained about all that was said by anyone who was not an AR user was HTFU......despite the fact that there was a legit problem. The skilled AR users just did what we do....we adjusted to horrible sights and it seemingly didnt affect our game that much because we are skilled enough to be able to work with something that was done badly.
Personally when it comes to weapon balancing I like to see small adjustments rather than large swings. For instance the Laser was definitely OP (anyone who thinks otherwise either uses it or smokes their mojo). Now that the viziam is going to have less initial dmg and the laser as a whole will have less range due to SS I would say hold off on any other changes until tests can be done. |

sweeeet my daughter loves stickers
now back on topic... they haven't said anything about WHEN we would see the other suits have they?
Im assuming the range nerf is gonna be drastic, prolly way more than it should, which seems to go with everything we always see.
properly using SP in proficiency can help offset the damage nerf somewhat, but yea still pretty leary about the on-field outcome |

I have been informed by initial reports that HMGs are murdering people. tighter bullet spread which explains the damage nerf. hit detection appears to be fixed. Initial reports indicate that the HMG seems to be working as intended.
Now start screaming about how it's unfair that we got nerfed or something. Because we all know you want to. |

As a Heavy first, and anything else after, what i'm reading is worrying. im thinking i will be buying quite a few Militia items before i invest any SP in a specific class type.
i LOVE my HMG, but i will have to leave it if this is clearly a deficient weapon/class choice. |
