The answer was that it will, so people will get millions of AUR for all of those BPO items they bought back when they were like 100 AUR each. CCP Eterne, can you confirm that all instances of militia BPOs that a player owns will be refunded at current market prices? Because it would be very dissapointing if that was the case. Making ISK from market opportunities that arise in Eve/Dust is all fine and good. But giving out AUR worth thousands of real life $$ to players just because they bought a stack of militia BPOs for the price of a single merc-pack in January definitely crosses a line. I really hope CCP considered that when making their plans for refunding items. Imho, there is no point in refunding more than one BPO of each type, since a player can't use more than one anyway. All extra BPOs were bought clearly with the intent of never using them, so why refund them because of the skill change? I don't think you should be refunded for dropships you received in salvage because you have no intention of using them. Just you though, everyone else is cool. |

CCP Eterne wrote:Hey guys, a brief update. We will not be refunding any Militia BPOs, but rather returning them to your inventory.
A number of you brought up the very real possibility that people would get millions of AUR refunded because at one point they were selling for much less and after further consideration, we realized this would give a hugely unfair advantage to these people.
We hope everyone understands this decision. What about for characters we don't use? Can I have it reset or will it be all three characters on that PSN?
I didn't buy multiple copies, but I dont use those characters and have 60,000-100,000 AUR tied up in them. I was looking forward to putting that to good use.
Seems like you guys could at least refund 1 copy of each BP per character.
I had big dreams of skilling up 3 characters, but realized I'd have to give up my wife and kids to do so. |

So wait, you ARE going to skill up 3 characters? Lol, no. My wife would leave me if I played this game any more that I already do. I've been wondering why the pool boy is around so much as it is. |

We hope everyone understands this decision. Yes, the post that follows may sound like qq'ing! But I must assure people that I am not. I just have big concerns about the claim that "we realized this would give a hugely unfair advantage to these people". Dust 514 has been promised to not be pay to win. IF you say that millions of AUR gives "a hugely unfair advantage", then you are saying that Dust 514 is pay to win. Some people in the world are wealthy enough to easily purchase millions of AUR. To get 1 mil AUR is $500, which is for no doubt a few lucky-in-life Dust 514/EVE players easy to give up. Are you saying that these people are given "a hugely unfair advantage"? More precisely, a "hugely unfair advantage" that you are not willing to give to poorer players who happened to take a (very minimal) risk on a potential to get some of this fortune themselves that they can't match with real world funds? I honestly don't mind the decision in general. I, like others, took the risk. If it pays off, I will be happy and gloat. If it doesn't, I've lost little. But the justification given here has very worrying implications.
I agree, it's another case of them not thinking something through. I don't think paying customers should be the ones that suffer. They get all excited when they see New Eden drama play out, but when they are the ones that get "Eve'd" they just change the rules. It's bush league IMO.

We hope everyone understands this decision. I had hoped you'd leave "all" of my BPOs alone :P and of course my specialty and pack items. but good to know that at least my militia BPOs will still be there. o/ Bill Still glad you'll have to spend 6 million SP to use your BPO suits? Unless your lucky enough that the race you chose was one of the same for your BPO?
I'm so glad you didn't have to push a few buttons to buy them again. |

I'm so glad you didn't have to push a few buttons to buy them again. I bought what I intended to use Why the hostility man?, it doesn't make a fuckin bit of difference what I wanted anyway, CCP was going to do what they were going to do regardless, so if you wanna ***** or cry about it, do it to them, not me FFS. Because it doesn't make any sense that people are defending the actions of CCP in this case. It really doesn't.
I bought those BPOs so that in certain situations I could be versatile to my team. At the beginning of matches I could use a scout suit to run up and hack points. I never really used the raven suit, but I did buy it (on two characters). The sever suit I can't use because I chose to go Caldari and the sever is minmitar.
The REASON for the respec was to keep people from having gear that they can't use because of the more specific skilling that the racial variants brought with it.
It's simple. I'm hostile because there are a ton of people that are defending the actions of CCP when it is blatantly obvious that it was wrong.
A lot of people don't even realize it yet, because they haven't tried to use them. They are in game messing with their skills and trying to fit the suit they've skilled into. If they try to set up a "free" suit with their BPO they are going to be pissed.

Will there be another respec before launch or is there something that can be done besides to just dealing with it? +1 here. I didn't do my homework, since I was out of town during the reset. I immediately skilled up for meta 4 suit and a light weapon. Poof! There went 5M SP and I couldn't set up my formerly maxed tanking skills. Oops. If you see a merc in a fancy suit that dies after two good hits, that be me... Back to grinding. I'd like to see a skill reset on launch. Call it a trial period for the new skill tree... yes please ccp, another reset PLEASE!!! The suits skill set-up confused me, and I spent over 3 mil on the gallente medium, wanting the race bonus. However, I didn't know that you had to level up the basic dropsuit skill before getting the assault/logistics suits. PLEASE REALLOCATE AGAIN. I don't want to spend 8 weeks of my life getting that sp back. And also, a guide to how the dropsuit skill tree works would have been helpful. Yeah that guide is coming out mid April 2013. With it perhaps you wouldn't have made that mistake. Either way its your fault and you are just going to suck it up and grind on. |
