.. or at least not spend SP until CCP decides to fully release the CORE CONTENT of this game.
keep in mind, this information is just from the eye of the public, but it's made the most sense so far.
Dropsuit command: 1x (irrelevant really, since IDK if you have to get it to 5, you probably don't) {Racial} {Size} Dropsuit: 8x (same as it currently is) {Racial} {Class} Dropsuit: 10x (here's the kicker)
So basically, from what I understand (based on posts in the first few pages of this thread) is, The prototype suits we have now (in chromosome) will be basically the "generic" suits we get in Uprising for just going Racial Size dropsuit. I.E. Going Caldari Medium dropsuits to 5 will net you the same proto suit you currently have, for the (assumption!) same amount of SP. However, it will not be called an "assault" or "logi" suit, it will be just a regular medium frame dropsuit. in order to go full specialization, you will have to pay an extra 3.1m SP to "specialize".
(I use caldari for my example, but i'd assume it would be similar for all races, just a generic assault/logi "hybrid" dropsuit, with a few equipment slots (more than assault, less than logi), and a "generic" tank/speed/CPU/PG.
In total, it will cost you 5,596,550 (disregarding the dropsuit command skill) to get you into ONE specialized dropsuit.
Here's the wonky, unfair part. Heavies. (and scouts to a slightly lesser degree)
Until they release the final BASE dropsuit racial variants (in what has been termed "SOON... no Gäó") for Heavies and Scouts, if you want to be fully functional in these classes, you are going to be in the same exact boat CCP put us in in chromosome into uprising. But worse. because this time, in order to get the best out of your class, you are going to have to spend 5,596,550 SP instead of 2.5m! the extra 3.1m SP is going to take you roughly 6 weeks, or a month and a half of grinding WITH FULL BOOSTERS to get. and even then, once you get the new suits, you're going to be stuck with another races suit that just... sits there (assuming you don't want amarr...)
The only solution I can see for CCP to keep it fair is to do yet another respec, and they said that isn't going to happen.. sooo.. This is just not really "fair" (even by New Eden's standards). So, since your only options are to play, or not to play, I'd say just don't play heavy or scout, use an alt for a while, grind in militia... basically just wait for CCP to .. "catch up".
Unless CCP chimes in and proves we are wrong. which would be great, but odds are this is close to how it's going to be. Just terrible. I feel for my heavy/scout merc friends. Sure the heavy is getting a slight "buff", but it's also getting the biggest gimp of all. Pidgeon-holing. |

.... but we are getting a respec.
Why do we need another?
We also have not seen the base stats of the basic heavy fit. This could simply be a side-grade instead of an upgrade.
And even if its a direct upgrade, then it works the same exact way as a HAC would compared to a regular cruiser. So who cares? |

So say you want to go minmatar heavy right off the bat
oh, you can't. So now, if you want to play heavy, you HAVE to go at least into Amarr large frame dropsuits. now say you want at least a type II dropsuit to tide you over (with NO racial or class benefits)
SO you spend the 150k just for a workable suit. now a few months down the road, after you keep getting your butt kicked by proto assaults and proto logis (because they far outclass the generic suits), yay, victory, you can now spec into that minmatar heavy suit.
so... take a small SP hit, and a huge KDR/stats hit, vs. not playing a heavy.

But we dont know any of that. 3 months from now this might be considered a silly concern. But instead we cry like children to these devs about their free game they are trying hard to perfect for us. Hmm, didn't figure I'd be alone on this. Why is it so much to ask for CCP to postpone the respec, or give us a true "last one" later when all the races have a representation from each of the frame sizes?
It's like if CCP released the battleship for only the amarr class, then made a game mode that favored a battleship that made you a ton of ISK and LP (or otherwise incentivized people to get battleships), then told people they would later get a battleship for each other race as well. just.. soon. (anywhere between a month, and 6 months), However, there is also awesome content coming for frigates, destroyers, cruisers, and battlecruisers, which all have all races represented.
Are you going to spec into battleships just to do this content that really meshes with you? or are you just going to spec into a cruiser or whatever, and just ... "settle"?
Ok, now imagine you are an ADD FPS player. are you going to sit around and tell yourself "ehh, I can wait another 3 months to earn enough SP to get into that other dropsuit.. i'm cool with waiting"
Not. going. to. happen. Put it this way, I may be complaining now, just wait until the final core heavy/scouts come out. These forums are going to catch on fire. |

I just like it when people tell the truth. There it too much speculation about what the future is and how it will all play out. I hate it when these post make me mad, I just sit back and try to think how these people see it. It does seem unfair but if we waited till all the suits were ready then it could be 3-4 months. We would lose more people to stagnation than to frustration of choices. I want to see all race equally represented.

alternately, they could simply hold back ONLY dropsuits? or, just push back the respec? i mean, honestly, wheres the harm in any of that?
Whatever, I guess I should just be content to let other players of this game suffer, and enjoy my spoils, since I'm an assault guy.

The problem is you're not supposed to consider yourself just a heavy player but a heavy amarrian or a heavy caldari player for example. The two suits would play differently to the point you have to decide which one to rather play and which support skills you need to prioritize in order to make it work well. |

I'm super excited to see a member of the CSM worried about heavy problems!
That being said, exactly this. I want to see what the gallente and caldari suits are like because I think they may fit my playstyle better. And literally EVERY OTHER CLASS got at least 1 new suit, but we got none. I want to be able to partake in planetary conquest, but if all the other corps are running proto anything how much use am I going to be if I'm in a type 2 because that's as far as I want to spend my sp before the other suits come out? Considering how heavies are already underpowered, the answer is sadly not much. I think they should offer another reset for just sp/isk spent on the "heavy" suit skills once they come out with the rest of the suits.
Then I have this other list of things I'd like them to look at as far as heavies go... |

Even though as Heavies we seem to be getting snubbed a bit right now i.e no more heavy weapons and no racial suits when everyone else is getting something. However even if I have to sully myself by using Amarrain gear I fully intend to get the job done until the other gear arrives. There's also a couple of changes to armour reppers which might be interesting alongside the minor buff to HP.
And there's always a possibility that if we make enough noise when the new gear comes we might be able to apply for an SP reset for a small group since heavies use up so much SP.
I still hear guy's cakking themselves about heavies from the old guard regardless of whats been done to our suits and weapons there are still a few of us which have weathered the storm and will do so again. I might not be widely known but those tankers which know do keep a good distance and an eye on me and I know Exmaples exploits well as do most that I know, the heavy will not go into the night quietly.
Regardless of what happens I will still play a Heavy, let them bring their shiny new guns, let them call for Nerfs, let them try and grind me to dust but I'll keep coming. I won't stop, I'm the rock in the storm, I'm the immoveable object, I'm a thrice cursed force of nature and no matter I will find a way to bring victory!!!

I'm not going to say it doesn't suck at least a little for heavies, but there is always the hope that they will do a mini SP refund (refund only SP put into Amarr heavy suits) when the new stuff comes out. |

don't worry I am quite sure another pack of suits will be in by next expansion possibly even during uprising even and possibly the last of the suits models will be shoved in. Once all the prime suits are in we can get the balance wheels going in terms of suits and suit survivability and suit frame theming (which is a major problem on the medium suits vs light and heavy suits)
Uprising however will produce the environment needed to help shape the future of all frame sizes and purposes.
Dont worry, I do play an omni-soldier I will be suffering in the heavy suit just like everyone else, matter of factly based on the current skill point distribution I may be stuck in basic suits for a while so I will have to get opinions from this facet of how absolutely useful are the basic frames and how underpowered they might be agaisnt simulated veteran. |

Yea this is something I've thought about as well. It's completely unfair how if you want to play as Heavy, you're forced to play as 1 race. If you wanna stay competitive as the class you're forced to dump SP into. What happens when the other race variants come out?
As the OP said, we're stuck with a race we didn't want from the start! But hey, who gives a **** about heavies right? I mean every suit got a new one to chose from BUT heavies. So long as Assault suits get ALL the races, who cares about the suit that got 1.
Just think about it for a minute, imagine if Assault and Logi, got 1 race, and Heavy got all... think about the rage and buthurt on the forums about it. But hey, it's only the heavy suit right?! Who cares! We should just dump all our SP into a race that we're forced to, and be fine with that.
Thing about it is this, SP costs money, and being forced to dump my money into 1 race without a chance of a respec makes me feel ripped off a bit. Seriously speaking. I'm not even feeling entitled to anything, but any class that's forced to play as 1 race while other classes have variants has a right to feel ripped off. |

Only you won't get a response right away because there is currently a skill point reallocation about to take place and CCP probably doesn't want to confuse others out there by introducing a new one that only affects specific skills.

Obvious decision? Have you not seen what CCP did to the new tanks? Made them weaker, and gave them a dmg bonus to blasters... now, that would seem an obvious thing to NOT do, but that didn't stop them. I've learned not to get my hopes up with CCP. I'm less disappointed that way.
