.. or at least not spend SP until CCP decides to fully release the CORE CONTENT of this game.
keep in mind, this information is just from the eye of the public, but it's made the most sense so far.
Dropsuit command: 1x (irrelevant really, since IDK if you have to get it to 5, you probably don't)
{Racial} {Size} Dropsuit: 8x (same as it currently is)
{Racial} {Class} Dropsuit: 10x (here's the kicker)
So basically, from what I understand (based on posts in the first few pages of
this thread) is, The prototype suits we have now (in chromosome) will be basically the "generic" suits we get in Uprising for just going Racial Size dropsuit. I.E. Going Caldari Medium dropsuits to 5 will net you the same proto suit you currently have, for the (assumption!) same amount of SP. However, it will not be called an "assault" or "logi" suit, it will be just a regular medium frame dropsuit. in order to go full specialization, you will have to pay an extra 3.1m SP to "specialize".
(I use caldari for my example, but i'd assume it would be similar for all races, just a generic assault/logi "hybrid" dropsuit, with a few equipment slots (more than assault, less than logi), and a "generic" tank/speed/CPU/PG.
In total, it will cost you 5,596,550 (disregarding the dropsuit command skill) to get you into ONE specialized dropsuit.
Here's the wonky, unfair part. Heavies. (and scouts to a slightly lesser degree)
Until they release the final BASE dropsuit racial variants (in what has been termed "SOON... no Gäó") for Heavies and Scouts, if you want to be fully functional in these classes, you are going to be in the same exact boat CCP put us in in chromosome into uprising. But worse. because this time, in order to get the best out of your class, you are going to have to spend 5,596,550 SP instead of 2.5m! the extra 3.1m SP is going to take you roughly 6 weeks, or a month and a half of grinding WITH FULL BOOSTERS to get. and even then, once you get the new suits, you're going to be stuck with another races suit that just... sits there (assuming you don't want amarr...)
The only solution I can see for CCP to keep it fair is to do yet another respec, and they said that isn't going to happen.. sooo.. This is just not really "fair" (even by New Eden's standards). So, since your only options are to play, or not to play, I'd say just don't play heavy or scout, use an alt for a while, grind in militia... basically just wait for CCP to .. "catch up".
Unless CCP chimes in and proves we are wrong. which would be great, but odds are this is close to how it's going to be. Just terrible. I feel for my heavy/scout merc friends. Sure the heavy is getting a slight "buff", but it's also getting the biggest gimp of all. Pidgeon-holing.
