When the game comes out of beta and is officially "launched" they will reset sp and isk as well as refunding any aurum we have spent. This game is still in beta after all and its to be expected that they will reset it, we are Beta testing the game not playing it to get ahead when CCP announces the launch.
We will get all the suits and special items we used up as well as any aurum we spent when the launch reset goes through. the most recent reset was meant to be the last Beta reset we still have one more before the game is fully launched. |

If in fact CCP does a full reset they could potentially cause the game to fail through players leaving and raging on the forums. However, CCP is in a tight spot as how do you deal with new players who never played the beta ( this was stated by a previous comment) coming in when the game goes live? There will be a huge gap between Beta and non-Beta players. In fact there is already a discrepancy between closed and open beta players. Now add the learning curve on top of that and you have a precarious situation that might stunt the growth of this game.
Only time will tell if this game succeeds. Will FPS players want to switch from COD and Battlefield to Dust? How will Dust continue to compete against Planetside 2? Furthermore, when will Dust have a presence on Twitch.tv, an extremely popular video game streaming site that could potentially increase interest in Dust.
I know I have bounced around on this response, however, Dust is in a very interesting position. All I can hope is that new players find this game as addicting as I do, and don't give up when they get ROFL stomped (one last thing, the only reason I was able to survive those first few weeks, was that I came from Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, two soul crushing games that forced you to learn how to deal with intense enemies, as well constantly dying. Both games taught me patience, as well as how to adapt to hard situations. The reason I brought this up, is that not very many video game players would have played these games and learned how to deal with extreme situations).
Osiris.
I agree as well.
In regards to your statement about the gap existing between veterans and newbies, that's is just normal. Even if Dust were around 10 years from now, there will still be new players coming in. The same can be said for COD when I first joined and I was pitted against tough players. Halo is the same thing.
Dust is different in this regard because it operates under the strict RULES OF NEW EDEN and the first rule is Adapt or Die. Anyone not willing to follow this basic and most important rule is not worthy of being in New Eden. It's basically like CCP throwing us into the pool with blood-thirsty sharks that haven't been fed for a long time with electric eels accompanying them and you have to learn to get out while blind folded with one arm tied behind your back in the middle of the dark. If you manage to get out with at least one limb still attached, you're good to go. |
