i give it maybe a month or 2.
then comes some random "update" and with it will be the
" in order to make the new patch functional, we will be resetting all stats to 0 and all isk to 0. this is needed to balance the game for all the players who didn't get a chance to play during the beta. we thank you for your continued support"
remember: they said this was the last reset for the BETA. and they have kept their word. but once the game goes retail and sales are the main focus and not devving, then they will have kept their word legally about that BETA reset and will still reset the stats and isk based on some text buried in the EULA as well as the fact that they no longer are obligated to keep their word on the beta reset because they will have done so and now, being in retail, they don't owe us anything.
how mad are you guys gonna be when it happens?

please ffs leave this game forever and go play an ea game where your moaning and whining is perfectly justified.

And why would they care about retail sales when it's free to play? CCP want to keep their playerbase happy, not scrap for the one timers who hop from game to game with 20 second attention spans. |

if they reset our sp then the people who has over 10 million sp will say good bye to dust. but ccp wins because they got their money from aurum, it is one of the reasons why some people dont like free to play games because the system that is based off is kinda crooked. |

By playing the beta you agree to this possibility. Also a sp/isk reset (I doubt it will happen) would be a good thing to allow the new players to be more even, and bad players won't get carried much by their SP. Most people complaining about any form of resets that again, I doubt will happen are usually bad players worried that they can't easy faceroll because they have more stats. |

As some of the other comments have pointed out, the revenue for this game is generated by Aurum sales, without it this game would have no ability to function.
If in fact CCP does a full reset they could potentially cause the game to fail through players leaving and raging on the forums. However, CCP is in a tight spot as how do you deal with new players who never played the beta ( this was stated by a previous comment) coming in when the game goes live? There will be a huge gap between Beta and non-Beta players. In fact there is already a discrepancy between closed and open beta players. Now add the learning curve on top of that and you have a precarious situation that might stunt the growth of this game.
Only time will tell if this game succeeds. Will FPS players want to switch from COD and Battlefield to Dust? How will Dust continue to compete against Planetside 2? Furthermore, when will Dust have a presence on Twitch.tv, an extremely popular video game streaming site that could potentially increase interest in Dust.
I know I have bounced around on this response, however, Dust is in a very interesting position. All I can hope is that new players find this game as addicting as I do, and don't give up when they get ROFL stomped (one last thing, the only reason I was able to survive those first few weeks, was that I came from Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, two soul crushing games that forced you to learn how to deal with intense enemies, as well constantly dying. Both games taught me patience, as well as how to adapt to hard situations. The reason I brought this up, is that not very many video game players would have played these games and learned how to deal with extreme situations).

Peace B While you maybe right. It going to be a long bloody time away. The game to bloody bugged at present to be remotely near the finished mark. Like if you restock or alter any of your dropsuits in battle without being deployed. You'll get the loading screen spining circle of death and you will need to reset to clear the bug. |

CCP get most of their aurum sales from vet players not newbies. In free to play games players generally spend very little or nothing at all until they've spent a fair bit of time to find out if they actually like them or not. Whales are what Will keep the money flowing, so you can quit your poor attempt at scaremongering with nonsense about CCP pandering to brand new players who may never spend a cent on this game. |

judging by how upset the idea gets you guys i can only imagine how they will handle it when the time comes.

By this logic they'll reset SP every 6-7 months.
There will always be vets and newbies. CCP knows this. They wouldn't **** off the people who've already supported this game and helped in its development to delay the inevitable. It makes no sense when you look at it.

You overestimate CCPs ability to retain a playerbase. Hate to break it to you put this game has already bottomed out on player activity. If the new build fails to shock and awe and even if it does the moment the summer releases start hitting the shelves this game is DOA.
All you PC/MMO/CCP diehard fanbois can continue playing it in a giant circles jerk but anyone with half a sense of what a good game is gone. The reality is the only reason ppl login on now is character progression and if you think PC is enough of a driving force to keep the base interested you have no idea what you are talking about.
Point is CCP is already on thin ice with the playerbase, reset SP they cripple themselves the player dropoff would be so expansive id imagine games would revert back to E3 level stability given how far across the globe the matchmaking system would have to search to find 32-48 players. Once that happens game is dead.
