'The moment occurred way back at EVE Fanfest 2009, but it was something that made players take notice. The recently announced MMOFPS that would be tied together with EVE, Dust 514, had just revealed Fighter Aircraft. And although the dev who piloted it crashed twenty seconds after takeoff, the implications were obvious. The speed of the fighter, VTOL capability, the altitude it flew at [which was much higher than the tallest structures on the map] and the fact that it would probably have an assortment of weaponry options meant that it would be a force to be reckoned with. Here's a link to the footage if you havent seen it.
The only problem is that four years later, FA still have yet to make their appearance to the dismay of a large percentage of players. With its speed and the potential array of weapons, the FA is the dream of many Dust 514 mercs who are also skilled pilots. We wonder however, if air combat and ground combat will be separated like the are in Battlefield. While FA can attack tanks and other aircraft in BF3 its difficult for them to attack infantry. If FA retain VTOL like we've seen in past footage, however, they could be a nightmare for those of us with boots on the ground.'

Most game companies release COMPLETE games each and every year. What's CCP's problem? They hide behind their "Beta."
It's always the excuse for everything incomplete or broken and there are NEVER answers to when those things WILL be complete or fixed. |

Its not complete, it hasnt been released, it is still in beta
Defiance was a new game released as a new game but it was barely out of beta, most games released have problems due to being rushed out and some are game breakingly bad |

So, tell me, When will it be released?
Game companies tend to set release dates for their customers. When is the release date for DUST 514? Been playing (testing) for a year and still can't find a proper release date.
"Soon" was over 6 months ago!
All these revolutionary gameplay promises are becoming a bust and there are no answers coming from CCP.
You get what you pay for. And for free you get a clunky shooter with 4 maps and a $hitload of empty promises.

Not good ones. Yeah, seriously. Most of the game's I've actually enjoyed have been in development for at least 3 years before being released. Given how they picked up a completely different engine partway through, I'm not surprised Dust has been in development so much longer. |

People, people realize. This is NOT a completed game. This is after all a beta. A beta, might I add, which is going to be the first game to directly link a PS3 game and a PC game. This is unprecedented. There is no one else CCP can look at to get an idea about what to do here. This game could be in a beta phase well into next year, and I'll be with it every step of the way. |

While this isnt revolutionary considering the many threads we have had where we discuss this, I am glad that more and more people are recognizing the potential of FA in DUST. The more that is written about them, the better chance we have of actually seeing a response from CCP.
They will give a balance to vehicles and add a new dimension to the game.
But please, for the love of god, introduce key mapping at the same time. My Saitek demands it. |

And you want fighters? Now?
This is a terrible idea. Even if they did have fighters ready to implement, they'd be useless on these maps. |

As far as map size, next time you take your head out of your posterior, have a look at how big the terrain map is for Manus Peak and then tell me how miniscule they are.

Manus peak isn't even close to big enough for a fighter aircraft. It's still way too tiny for a fighter.

As of right now, adding fighters is stupid and senseless. We need more ground vehicles, larger maps, bug fixes, and weaponry first, some or most of which will hopefully come with Uprising. This along with more modules and such.

Really, have you pulled up the overhead and searched beyond the redline to see how big it is? Take a minute or two during a game and have a look. You would be surprised.
Adding fighters is not stupid and senseless. It adds a balance to the ground vehicles that you want more of. There always needs to be checks and balances in a fight. You cannot expect infantry to be a proper counterbalance to a tank because, well.. TANK. The only other option is to bring in an opposing tank which gets somewhat redundant.
FA's also add to the realism and immersion of a full war scenario and turn it into something so much greater than your standard FPS. It gives the ground commander more tools to use as part of his/her strategy.
And finally, because they were what drew many to this game in the first place as per the 2009 video which had the Gal Fighter in it.
The insult was because you came on here and began your rant because you dont have something that you want. In no way did it seem to be targeting any type of intelligent conversation. . |
