'Sources are reporting that last night a Planetary Response Organization cruiser shipment carrying between 300-600M ISK to a holding corporation facility, was intercepted by a striketeam of highly trained PFBHz operatives. No one is sure how the PFBHz obtained the intel or intended route of the cruiser, but within minutes they boarded the vessel, killed the entire crew including the protection detail and made off with a considerable amount of currency. Normally this amount of ISK is escorted by a flotilla of ships but for some untold reason PRO chose to go with a skeleton crew and small protection detail of mercs.'

Or you can read a realistic assessment of what happened:
GNN Article on Battle (With the footage of the fight)
Final Update
Seriously don't understand the point in overtly making up a story when there already is a story to tell. FYI, for those reading, this is the account Grezkev setup for me (Olivia) to use on the forums and in-game. Grez will prolly be mad at me for posting this but whatever....
I don't usually get into this GNN v Dusters crap (because, let's face it, it's stupid....hell they still use OUR name but whatever)...this however is just beyond my ability to fully comprehend.
The battle was waged on Ashged III. It was not in space. The battle was a corporation battle between PRO and PFBH, agreed through the corporate purchase system. It was not a random interception.
What's the point of changing the story, when a story already exists? What's the point of trying to make up drama when there already exists a good deal of drama? At this point I have to call in the definition of the word "news":
The Dictionary wrote:news /n(y)o-Poz/ Noun
1) Newly received or noteworthy information, esp. about recent or important events. 2) A broadcast or published report of news.
In this context, I don't see how making up an event and reporting on the generalities of an ACTUAL event somehow breakdown into the concept of "news". This is the issue the REAL GNN has had with Dusters for years, especially back in the MAG days....changing reports (back then it was our reports) around to fit some sort of "general storyline" that Dusters made up. Heads up Dusters: CCP Makes the story, not you. The Community makes the drama and the development...not you.
Sorry, didn't mean to start drama and I know we'll hear more in responses about this....but I just felt the need to say something. The truth is available for anyone who takes the time to read it, and the MAG community all know it as well. Our posts are still up! History of the GNN Corporation. |

Yeah! Why read a made up story when you can read fair and balanced propaganda!
If anyone took inebriated, or even reportedly inebriated gamer rage even slightly seriously there wouldn't be but 2 or 3 corporations. Gamers for Christ, and maybe GǪ a few others.
I would probably go on a tirade and, well, you probably don't want to even hear about it. But judging by how much I yell at the tv and curse and rage every time I lose a tank, I can understand someone being somewhat disappointed that their money got stolen.
Plus I thought the little blurb here in the forums was kind of cute. A re-imagining of eventsGǪ But they could have left the part out about ships. Maybe written it like a noir thriller where a handful of mercenaries plan to meet in the desert in order to hand over a briefcase of ISK when a rival gang ambushes them and puts a stop to their money laundering schemeGǪ good times. |

But seriously, saying 600mil lost in EVE (unless I'm missing my complimentary Dust cruiser, which then I need to go bug CCP again) is just downright silly, especially that it needs a fleet to guard...people transport billions of ISK alone everyday without problems (unless they autopilot...then they're kinda asking for the gankers to come after them...)
Fact-checking: As important in-game as it is IRL...
EDIT: Overlooked another silly part of this...ISK transfer isn't through physical means, in Dust or EVE... |

Ok what I'm getting from this is that dusters role plays, but does it badly.
Like I mean they could have gone with "the PFBhz warbarge caught wind of a cash stash pro had hidden on a nearby planet. Despite the fact that PFBhz war barge contained a large sum that could be lost in the battle, the Mercs knew they were more than enough to raid the stash without risking the loss of their own cash. They attacked the stash and after decimating the pro forces, they were able to claim the now ownerless loot.
I mean if you're going to make up stuff, make it sound believable an logical in the realm of the story. >.> |

It was agreed through the corporate purchase system...meaning the system provided for the means of the contract purchase, unless you're accusing PFBH of hacking....lol. The contract was purchased legitimately and legally within the parameters of the game. That's what I meant by it was "agreed through the corporate purchase system." It may not have been agreed by the Party's as far as their intentions....but that's their problem.
Haven't you heard of the phrase "buyer beware"?
It's not sensationalizing, otherwise I wouldn't have put Joe's follow up statement (which you pointed out). People can toss around the meaning of what went on however much they want but those are the facts. Joe clarified what he did, but it was intercepted legally and withing the framework of the corporate purchasing system. |
