i think it was to accurate, need to reduce the chance of a hit with no scope by the whole screen. |

So what's your point? Do you want to use sniper as pistol/shotgun? Scope or don't use sniper tbh. It is working as intended. |

Pro tip (not from a sniper btw) use the charged, it has this big circle when you hold the trigger that gives you a decent idea where the shot will end up. |

To the OP, I think there needs to be a large hip fire area to keep things balance but that is excessive, maybe half that at that distance maybe a little more but definitely not that much. |

The internal stabilization gyros require a couple of seconds to harmonize, and if you blind fire it, the random vibrations will have one heck of a spread. |

It should be more accurate from the hip but do less dmg as the round has not gained full momentum yet. Some type of trade-off to balance it realistically. Like some of those sci-fi sniper bullets in the movies that shed a layer halfway to the target that somehow makes it do more dmg or be more accurate over long distances. Just a thought. |

I know what type of bullets you mean, the tiered bullets. The ones which have stages to make a bullet go further. All it does is maintain a bullet's velocity - giving it a boost when it needs it. It doesn't make a bullet more accurate, nor does it make it do more damage.
Besides, at these distances, tiered bullets aren't needed. Not to mention that they can't be made in DUST, since sniper rifles are railguns, and hence don't use gunpowder. They require the whole rifle itself to fire the projectile, rather than the ammunition containing fuel. |

If they are railguns, then maybe if the gun isn't completely still, it disrupts the heat distribution or magnetic flux fields which cause it to do less dmg. Thus swinging from your hip it does less dmg, but fire at least a bit more accurate than current state. |

The physics of that sort of makes sense. An electric field generated by a current will always oppose any change in the magnetic field.. If you're moving, the planet's magnetic field causes the electric field generated to deviate from its optimum, causing there to be less accuracy. Or less momentum imparted to the particle. |

Sniper rifles need to be reconfigured so they're more viable in CQC. As they are now, redline sniping and long-distance is pretty much the way to go. If we had modifiable scopes and perhaps higher ROF on some models, close-up sniping wouldn't be such a radical idea.
The reload time is also pretty stupid. Try running and gunning with 3 rounds in the magazine but you have a 4 second reload. Better have a logi nearby. This is strictly speaking about the tactical sniper rifles, which are better at long range.
Make them similar to the scrambler pistol SP tree, each round in proficiency or whatever grants an extra round in the clip. Then I can sleep at night. |
