Bear in mind that once they press the "Push to PS3" button those textures will be reduced to 16x16, with an optional 32x32 streamable texture to display dynamically when staring directly at the floor for three to five minutes. |

Looks like all they did was change the color from red to grey. Overall not impressed at all. |

I find the textures to be way more smooth than what we have now. How it will look once on PS3, guess we'll just have to wait and see but from those photos, the improvements is obvious to me. |

Someone isn't paying attention. You aren't getting those graphics, that's the PC dev build. The PS3 can't handle those textures. |

You'll excuse me if i dont take your unqualified opinion as gospel. Logic says that if they had no intention of using it, they would not have built it. |

I dont think you know what an opinion is.
It's a fact the PS3 can't handle those full textures. The PS4 can, but you sure as hell won't be playing with that anytime soon.
You can say I'm unqualified, but then, you really don't know a thing about me or my background so that's just ignorance on your part. You COULD attempt to do your own research into the PS3's terrible RAM limitations, but something tells me you would rather stay ignorant. |

Haha no, my point was that you don't work for CCP, which I can say with relative certainty. That means your opinion is unqaulified, as you have no idea what their plan is. You'll note that I never made any mention about PS3 or any other platform. If i see it on the PS4, then that's when I see it. either way I'm excited for the next update and the graphics improvements that it will bring.
You'd do well not to pass off your conjecture as fact, chances are you'll end up looking like an idiot. |

The PS3 doesn't need ram, its designed differently. The PS3 isn't a desktop PC it doesn't require a RAM cache to store an OS, working documents or other memory overheads while you go get coffee or figure out what a Spearman Rho is. PS3 streams tiny pieces of information through high bus bandwith. Console are optimised to play games. The issue that many games production companies have its almost like computer programming in the 1980s, its basically bloody hard work. None of this middlewear bollocks, to optimise you have to get into the engineering of the console.
So basically your statement about RAM is irrelevant. Sorry the PS3 doesn't fit into your a schema of how a computer should work.

Try Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 from 2007. Same engine, hi-res textures, big open maps, smooth 30fps framerate. |

Thats the frame rate of a standard modern television broadcast, more or less.
Dunno what you want.

There isn't a single competitive FPS out there that runs in any kind of E-sports league at sub-60 FPS right now, and there is a reason for that. It looks like crap, it plays like crap, and it lowers the skill ceiling.
Dust isn't going the E-sports route in most likelihood, but it doesn't change the fact it lowers the skill ceiling and looks terrible compared to 60.
First you wrote about textures and RAM in PS3. Now when you haven-Št vauable argument about what you wrote before you writing about 60fps now. You are amazing. |

Because of the way ps3 handels things every bit of graphics is taken a notch down onto the ps3. Those are more like graphics you'd find on a super high end computer or the ps4 maybe even.
Now real observations though are the shift in color pallets, that shouldn't' change that much. |

Well, CoD uses a heavily modified version of the same engine that ran the first Modern Warfare, which was what 6 years ago? So the engine is 8?
Also, unlike Dust, that 30 fps rate is very stable. Or at least it was in the last CoD game I played. But that was a couple of years ago. |

I am amazing, thank you.
CCP isn't going to put those textures in the game on the PS3. The frame rate is bad enough and is the source of a lot of criticism the game is taking. When people feel as though they are not in control of their character, they get pissed off very quickly.
The game already struggles as it is. The simple addition of the titan wreck skybox combined with mandatory fire storm effects has noticeably dropped this games frame rate by around 10 frames or so. That isn't even a high-res background, which is hilariously apparent via the low res nebula (which looks much better in Eve, and is still lower resolution than the original).
Can the game both look AND run better with proper optimization? Certainly.
Is it going to look like that?
No. And you are delusional if you think it will. |
