I've tried to make this game fun. I've tried to be positive. I've tried to learn from my mistakes.
And I give up.
You've made this game almost impossible for newcomers in this game. I've tried and I've tried and I am tired of being killed over and over.

I will do the fun games I have on my system from now on. |

Totally understandable.
Take note CCP, going to be alot more of these posts. Especially if you're just "announcing" when the next update is in 1.5 months at fanfest and not actually deploying it.

Seriously fellow veterans of DUST. Try making a fresh account and see how difficult it is just to play the game. You will see how insane it is, to make it even worse at least I/we have battle knowledge, the newberries have nothing. Especially when pitted up against a stacked team of corporations while your team is full of NPC corps.
Needless to say I went back to my main real quick. |

As a F2P you can expect a bit of drop out, but by going beta with only bare bones CCP can't expect much good word of mouth despite their PR spin machine. |

Needless to say I went back to my main real quick. Don't be surprised if this game is ever released proper new player rolls will only put new players only x% behind the average bitter vet and not the huge gap it is now.
Something that CCP has been asked several times since it was apparent the open beta would last forever.
They simply haven't commented on it at all. |

Just run the free fits until you skill up into standard suits and advanced mods and you'll do fine.
Heck, you don't even really need the advanced mods, the standard ones are cheap enough to hold you over until you skill into advanced too. |

Interesting, You need to get your skill up! I started almost 2 weeks after the open Beta started and I am able to hang with all the people that double my SP.
What I find is get other good players in a squad with you it makes a difference on the performance and the ease of the game. |

Honestly, with the current features/content, we've tested and reported/discussed just about all there is to at this point. It's pretty much all in the hands of CCP at this point, they know (hopefully) the issues with the game, and there really isn't anything left for us to do until Dust is updated.
So, if you're a vet who's burnt out, I'd suggest taking a break (like me) for a month or so and hopefully there will be something new by them. If not, move on to something else.
If your new and finding it hard, let your passive build up for a while. Hopefully Dust will become more newb friendly in the next build and you can come back then, along with all the returning vets. |

But seriously OP, take Sete's advice. Turn on Passive SP and comeback in a month or 2, hopefully we''ll have better match making by then. |

New players have a hella hard time trying to adjust. Even with good gun game it is difficult. The solution isn't flatlining the gear, it is a proper match making system which should have been in place 6 months ago. A little forethought on ccp 's end would have avoided this calamity. This build has been a long time coming and ....well....I am not getting my hopes up. I wish they'd wow me and prove all the naysayers wrong, but if history is any evidence of the future... |

It's definitely not for everyone.
I'm currently running the free arbiter scout suit, with either a assault rifle, smg or shotty, all militia grade, only 567k in SP and I have a KDR of 2.17 (no use of sniper rifles so far). Not awesome but its definitely doable if you're smart and run from protos. |

I have an alt with no points invested into weapons or dropsuits and I can do just fine with the default militia fit. |

For pub matches thats fine to say, I guess, but I think the whole point of the game is to get into corps, and begin Faction Warfare and competitive Corp gameplay....if you arent in a real corp then you arent getting the most out of this game.
@ OP you should Run with a corp willing to train you, to watch your back, to help you out with suggestions, even to sponsor you with better gear or ISK while you level up. without that you are just a man on a small planet full to the brim of people who want to kill you with the biggest and scariest guns in existance.....not to mention the million ton warships in orbit....but lets not start with that.
Give dust another try. The beta is a bit clunky, mechanics are screwy, but it IMO is one of the best shooters ive player and up there with MAG for competitive team play. |

Sloth,
I hear you, but when I say smart I mean less Call of Duty, more Halo. It's all about shield and armor management, not just charging headlong or camping and hoping to gank the other guy first.
I think the problem is most people coming into this approach it from a Call of Duty style. |

That's the point I'm trying to get across Jesus ******* Christ thank you Sloth. It's easy if you stick with the assault suit. Going with a heavy suit on the other hand while your team is filled with NPCs and the other team is stacked is a different story. What's a noob to do? he doesn't have battle knowledge, even core FPS skills only get you so far in DUST. This makes me have some respect for the corps that enlist rookies (eugh, yes even PRO). |
