The reason this works is so many newberries in random Ambush games do not realize use can use default spawn with the Square. And I am usually the only person placing uplinks. The learning curve on this game is so high people do not notice how the X and Square buttons change.
You suck. Taking advantage of the new people seems to go against the idea of having a Dust Uni corp. |

Hello Dust514
First of id like to state that I am a Director of D-Uni and this situation has only just now been brought to my attention so forgive me for being a bit slow to catch this.
At D-Uni we have very strict Code Of Conduct rules and Gaia here is in breach of no less than 2 out of 6 core rules. As well as breaching rules of engagement and a host of other rules.
As I'm sure you can Imagen we at D-Uni consider this a serious breach of conduct, ignoring the fact its just out right wrong.
But just as we have strict rules about conduct we also have strict procedures to follow regarding disciplinary action. Due to the severity of the breach its also no simple matter.
Right now there is little I can do until we, the board of directors, have had a chance to discuss the situation and agreed on the best course of disciplinary action.
This should take no less than 24 hours (hopeful much less) but until then Galen Gaia and his associated account is Officially Suspended Pending Investigation.
MESSAGE TO GALEN GAIA:
You have been found in breach of the following D-Uni rules:
Our members are honest in their dealings both with one another and the community
We donGÇÖt lie, cheat or deceive. Our word is trustworthy. In times of war, strategic and tactical considerations may require temporary departures from this concept from the perspective of our enemies, but our allies and other members should never be given doubt about our commitment to operate with integrity.
Our members treat all pilots both inside and outside the organization with respect
Members are expected to be respectful. There will be no tolerance for personal attacks, smack talk, abuse, disparaging remarks and ridicule, either in-game or out. Property rights of others, both members and the community, are always to be respected in all forms.
You have also been found to have committed aggressive acts that directly lead to the lose of equipment of friendly players.
As such you are official Suspended Pending Investigation.
You are to refrain from posting in all public channels until such a time that the investigation is concluded. Failure to complain will result in explosion from D-Uni.
Should you feel that the actions taken against you are unfair in anyway please contact Kevall Longstride stating your complaint and reasons you believe you are being mistreated.

Okay, this is the original poster. I posted this as though I were actually doing it so that it would get the most attention. The thread has stayed at the top of the forum because everyone is condemning me for it. CCP is seeing it more, and more new players are reading it and learning to not just hit X.
However, it looks bad for my corp, so I have been instructed to reveal my strategy.
Prior to starting this thread, I posted the problem in the feedback forum...
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=63693&find=unread
So many times I have seen my team lose because players who do not know any better just click X all the time. I watch a rapid succession of spawn kills at the same uplink. It takes at least one spawn kill for someone to avoid the uplink. That is up to 16 kills for the whole team. And it takes more than once for some to avoid it. And some even never stop because they do not know to click Square to default spawn or that you can select spawn locations.
Also, it is unclear what "Select spawn point" and " Use default spawn location" mean.
The design flaw of having the button keep changing makes it more confusing.
I should have used a non-corp alt for this thread. |

It appears that Galen Gaia was just GÇ£playing the bad guyGÇ¥ to bring public attention to this problem. This is proven by the post he made on the Feedback Forum before he created this thread. While I feel his approach was ill advised, I have withdrawn my request to have him expelled. It appears that he does not really hold the views that he expressed in this thread. It also appears that he has not actually committed the destructive acts that he had claimed to have in his original post. |

I understand the way things work in New Eden. I'm all for the scamming, the back stabbing and bringing overwhelming force to the fight. I go into ambush without a squad to spawn blueberries where I want them too. I don't drop them somewhere just to watch them die but I do use them as leverage to try and win the fight.
What Galen did was against his corp rules and he forced corp leadership to react. He made a statement which represented his corp because he wears the ticker. You were right when you said you should have posted with an alt if you were going to come at it sarcastically because sarcasm doesn't transmit well through text. DUST Uni is uptight because it is trying to uphold a reputation as a place where you can go to learn.

its an exploit and there's many more in the game. one way to draw attention to the exploit is to advertize to draw attention to it. once many people start farming the exploit, the vocal will come to the forums to QQ for a fix.
I agree with and support Gaia posting this exploit for all to see. when you see a broken game mechanic, break that mofo even more, spell its use out in 50 meter tall, blinking, neon lights for all the world to see.
if the game is not functioning as intended then CCP will fix it. if it is working propperly, well, then CCP is ok with infiltrators sabotaging the opposition. |

I like how Reav put it....As DUni members we have certain expectations in regards to code of conduct in order to facilitate a learning environment. We have no interest in being judgemental. Our intention is not to rail against certain methods of play...you simply can not employ some methods as a DUni member because of the type of effect it has on the environment for the players within the corp and those players that may consider joining our ranks in the future. It's all about the end goal...learning...and that require stability and dicipline. |

Galen Gaia wrote:This exploit is due to a design flaw. The button used to "Select default spawn location" keeps changing between X and Square depending on whether or not there are any Clone Units or Drop Uplinks. But most players always hit X.
So what you do is wear a free dropsuit in Ambush and place Drop Uplinks wherever your team will get killed the fastest, and go hide, put down the controller, and have a snack. Most players will keep hitting the X button to respawn even though the default spawn button changed from X to Square when they placed the uplink.
Each uplink spawns ten times, and you can put down two at a time. So replace after 20 respawns. You get +25 points for each spawn times up to 80 spawns for up to 1250 war points, thousands of skill points, and 100-200 ISK. You are likely to get first place on your team.
HEY! Quit telling people my MO.

What?
The match reward is directly tied to how fast a game runs... How CCP deals with issues like this.
A Drop Link can be over-run at anytime, its a basic core skill, like breathing, to be able to deal with this situation for an FPS player.
Not good example of Law of unintended consequences: you choose default spawn and still spawn in trap due to new spawn rules. Again, a conscious design choice by CCP, as I thought this out when I saw the new rules and was thinking about what they meant/entailed. The other side of CCP/Dust.... that shows its face in a lot of areas.
Pfft, HAVs are killing the game by fact that it can attack/defend against everything, while everyone else has weaknesses/has to switch to new role/fitting to deal with new situation/objectives. A game of tanks if I ever saw one.
This minor issue on other hand is nothing new to FPS genre...
