hi all. enjoying dust a lot. however i'm using a Belkin multicoloured mouse which has shockingly bad input lag. this combined with the framerate drops = uplayable at times..
i'm thinking of buying a gaming mouse: purely for use on Dust (as i don't own a pc) if anyones done the transition from ancient lazer mouse to gaming mouse is it worth it?
because i'm getting back on the fence about playing dust... as if the mouse / keyboard doesn't work then i'm really not interested in playing; as i just hate the ds3 for FPS gaming. i'm coming to dust from Counter Strike... and well, the mouse is pretty damn hard to use on Dust.
if i bought one of the mice in the list of 'working mices' in the dust forums.. would that fix my input lag.... or is that something thats still a dust/ps3/software problem? i don't wanna spend -ú60~ for a mouse that still has BAD input lag...
Would the ps3 take advantage of a optical mouse? because i read in another topic; that the ps3 has a really bad 'mouse ms' (refresh equivalent)
so, i guess...; is the ps3 capable of supporting a mouse properly, never mind its implementation on Dust. as poor mouse tracking combined with ps3's inherent 30frames per second, seem to really be limiting this game. maybe i'll jump back on with the ps4, hopefully..
cheers. BX |

Part of your problem might (not definitely) be the "deadzone" on the Move controls.
I know for a fact it affects Sixaxis controllers, and I've heard from a few people that it also has an effect on SOME (not all) mice.
Go to the Options menu and bring up the Motion Controller page. At the very bottom is "Deadzone Height" and "Deadzone Width". Set both to ZERO.
If it doesn't fix things, well... that obviously wasn't the problem, and I'm sorry for not being much help. |

I would def say it's still worth it. I own a Razor Naga and a generic KB, I wouldn't trade it for a pad any day. Now granted you get less response from the Mouse at least I do, you can turn quicker with a pad however the precision from using a mouse will certainly be noticeable and well worth the use of the mouse over a pad.
So, yes, from my opinion, get a mouse/kb from that list. I would further search the forums for people who are using these mice and try to figure out which one to get since all might be implemented differently and therefor one mouse might be better over the other for Dust. I like my Naga, but I think a Logitech or the Razor Deathadder I think it is would be better than the Naga.
Hope you join us and welcome if you do, Dust 514 is incredibly fun, even in this infancy, and will only get better.
Add me if you wish to squad up sometime, I also have a mic. |

Your mouse is very important in FPS gaming, and is definatly worth investing money into. If you want a wired mouse get the logitech g500 mouse... for wireless I love my microsoft PROformance mouse. For buying these accessories I recommend newegg.com |

Woa, I'll give this a shot. Maybe it'll help with my "input lag" that I experience sometimes. |

I cannot endorse a particular brand or model, but we have an amazing post in the Technical Support section with a list of mouse and keyboards that works fine with DUST 514: Supported Mouse/Keyboard list I suggest you to have a look in it, before purchasing a mouse. Especially if you are planning to use it only for DUST 514 :) |

Also if you haven't already you might want to turn smooth mouse off; I know it messed with my aim while I had it on. |

thanks for all the responses ;-)
i'm gonna get a mouse, i've decided. still not sure whether to get an optical or laser... but i've barely begun researching. I have heard good things about that wired logitech - so i'll check out the supported mouse list and get on the newegg. --
i had a look for the 'deadzone' but, the only settings i found for keyboard was; sensitivity and mouse smoothing
offline in the ps3 accessory settings i also found; 'pointer speed' and 'keyboard repeat interval/speed' all where on normal, and i haven't messed with them. ---
yeah Tyrin Tonious - definitely be up for a squad. not sure how to add though. running round with the bunnies is lol, but teamwork is temperamental ;)
well, thanks again - gonna sort me out a pro mouse looking forward to more Dust,, watch out for my AR.
p.s: yeah i've got mouse smoothing off too, couldn't aim for s* with it on.

I'd be careful, the PS3 doesn't play too nicely with some of the more 'fancy' mice. I have a Razer Abbysus which has adjustable DPI and polling rate settings. The mouse does not work well with dust however I set it up, ironically the cheap ass no name mouse that came with my old PC works pretty well.
I just with the DS3 generally as I don't have my PS3 set up at a desk and I can lye on my bed and play with the controller. Maybe see if someone you know has an old mouse lying about you could use, you never know you may get lucky (and save yourself -ú60 in the process ) |

This should go in 'Technical Support / Bugs' and not in General Discussion. Moving this thread then. |

I recommend getting a cheap logitech mouse. My razor barely allowed me to turn at all, but the $10 logitech I got works amazingly well. I'm sure it has something to do with the razor needing drivers that the PS3 doesn't use. |

There is no need for 'gaming' mouse, just pull the old wmo 1.1a out of the closet and call it a day. |

I have KB/M and DS3 connected* currently. The keyboard is just an Cheap USB keyboard and solves the horrible Soft Keyboard issue for me as being a touch typist is not beneficial for Soft Keyboards.
My mouse is a RAT7 and most of it doesn't work. It does however work well enough as a mouse and as I already own it that is what I use. Personally it allows me to fine tune a shot or two. Using it while manning a Small Rail Gun Turret can allow me to get Head Shots while waiting for the Sniper Tank to get closer to the battle. Occasionally I use it to Snipe with. But rarely, as it only is a game changer a few times a week for me.
The rest of the time I use the DS3. I prefer Game Controllers as they allow me to relax while playing and not sitting upright in front of a KB/M. Once we can bind All the buttons and keys on all the input devices I might rethink my decision. Until then a cheap USB KB/M is as good as anything else. At least for testing.
If you find that playing with a KB/M is better overall then switching or adding can be worth it. If you are like myself and don't really enjoy KB/M the DS3 is a reasonable input device.
Once we can get Battle Log Reports regarding who is successful with what device the relative worth will be more visible. Considering that CCP is going to add that Filter to the Battle Finder one might suspect that there is something worthwhile in separating those with and those without. |

FWIW, I already had a Logitech G700. It has on-board memory so the functions you program through the PC can carry over to the Play Station when you plug it in. I've had good luck with it replacing the right side functions of the Dual Shock 3 and using the DS3 for the left side functions. For me it's the best of both worlds. |

Actually I'm playing with a Revoltech Fightmouse elite with a cheap keyboard, and it's way better than the DS3 controller. |
