During those times you posted, most of us in the Americas (NOT just North America) are quite busy. If you extend the event by maybe 2 hours then maybe some of us can play a match or two and take part in the event.
It would be better if the event can run the whole day though. |

It would be better if the event can run the whole day though. I wholeheartedly agree. Being in the Midwest, I would completely miss the window, and it's bullshit to ignore your largest player base. Either extend the event, or get rid of it. |

It's not too hard to ask for a 2-3 hour event extend is it? I hope a CCP member sees this thread. |

I'm going to talk to the rest of the Live Events team today and see if one of us is capable of taking on the extra time it requires to extend the run time of the event by a couple of hours. However, because it will require someone staying in the office past 10 PM, I'm not guaranteeing anything. |

Good news. After talking it over, we've decided to extend the event by 2 hours. It will now run until midnight GMT. This is, unfortunately, as far as we can extend this event without making demands on our GM team that we are unwilling to make.
We'll look into solutions to extend event hours in the future, especially when we give stuff out. I know that the US West Coast gets screwed over by our operating times when it comes to events, but our options are sadly limited for the moment (but we're working on getting a fix for one of our biggest hurdles toward making them much longer events). |

Why does anyone even have to be on to run these events? Surely there has been time invested in automated systems so these can be regular occurrences with minimal oversight? |

What I want to know is, why? Why does it require someone to be there? With that being the case you must obviously have instant matches automated; so why can you not automate event matches? How hard is it to write a program to create a set number of matches with a match number check to keep it at that number for how many ever hours desired? I know CCP has the skills to do this otherwise DUST & EVE wouldn't exist in the first place. |

How about instead of you guys counting by hand each player that plays and manually entering it into a spreadsheet, maybe you could automate the system?

From the rest of the world let me be the first to say - HTFU. You know, calling someone out on their hypocrisy doesn't look anywhere near as good when you're being just as bad. If you're going to call them out for crying when they tell you not to, that's fine. But as soon as you do the same to them, you negate your own right to cry when it happens to you again. Because as soon as you've shouted "HTFU" at someone getting the short end of the stick like this, you become the hypocrite.
I'm supporting this complaint - which affects EVERYONE in those timezones, Canada, Mexico, South America, not just USA, as well as causing similar problems for many people to whom this is late Friday "I'm out partying" night or early Saturday "I need a sleep-in to recover from a hard week's work" morning. I'm supporting it because the hours are strange for people where I live (it's fine for me, because I'm nocturnal), and I'm supporting it because I don't want to be that guy who's perfectly happy to complain about how my country gets treated like dirt, but isn't willing to back someone else up when they're getting slammed for living in the wrong place. |

No, it's not that we think we should have priority. You all are not seeing the problem.. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED
The Closed Beta Tournament was a best of 3 tourny. They at first scheduled it so that the America's Corps would have to forfeight 1 match because of work (was scheduled for Friday during work / school hours). We had to beg and plead for them to change the time so America Corps could have a fighting chance.
They ran events in closed beta. Had america scheduled at a decent time. it just so happened that when the event started, America kicked off 5 hours early. Only reason they knew was because I so happened to be logged in and several of us saw it, and someone from CCP just so happened to log into IRC and we mentioned it. Just so you know, it happened the entire event, and they did not reschedule the events.
Then we have these. Happening during the time America is at work / school AGAIN. This is the 3rd / 4th event now. I think we have reason to be a little angry. They keep screwing us over. And America is 2 / TWO / DOS CONTINENTS; NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA. I saw this about any worldwide MMO.. just because you are in 1 location does not mean you should screw the rest of your population base.
We understand events will take place were it's just happens that way. But to continually screw 2 continents out of events is outrageous.
I will say though I am glad they at least extended the hours to give some America players a chance to participate, but there has to be a better way. I hear automation works well |

And I have to ask, even as you're complaining about this, you're sounding very reasonable and well-thought-out in your complaints. Have you backed people up who are getting shouted down by other Americans saying "deal with it" when another region is being screwed over? Because you sound like the kind of person who would actually be supportive of that kind of complaint even when it's not you making it.
And if you HAVE been one of the "deal with it" people in the past, has this situation made you feel guilty about that attitude? |

Cleared the thread of silly comments. Please refrain from having a go at each other on the forum. Thanks.
Just to clarify some things here as well.
Deciding on extending the Event has nothing to do with picking any region as favorite or anything like that, it is simply to try to accommodate for the player base if we can (And in this case, as mentioned by CCP Eterne, we can!). You don't ask, you don't get. A bigger window will allow more players to participate. Why not just be happy about it?
And why do we need someone present at CCP during the Event? Well considering the 'Let's all go home and hope the event will run itself fine. If something goes wrong... well who cares?' approach isn't an option here. Making sure everything goes as planned and you guys enjoy it is!
I guess some people are just hard to please!

Of course i dont feel guilty about it I'm an american and the global axis of the Earth is set so that it literally revolves around our country .
Having read the GM post i understand the nature of keeping people in office to tackle any issues that arise from the event thats is a great thing to do and glad they do it. I was going to suggest they run these types of events for 24-48 hours especially since its just a participation award. But given what the GM said i understand why they can't do that.
Might I ask is it possible for someone from CCP Shanhai to also monitor the event on their end? Or do you guys have a chinese wall around these types of things. (It's not a pun, its an actual phrase). |

Also, what some people aren't understanding, is that there are CCP employees that are conducting activities as pilots in Eve for the corresponding events happening in space over our heads. Often our actions require the help of extraction teams, or local police forces etc. Typically this means setting up in a staging system a few systems from where the conflict is. Safely getting to the battle area, conducting the role play, then retreating/attacking as the event unfolds. Many players in Eve get involved in the event as well, and game mechanics also could define how things unfold as friendly logisitics may come in to help repair the event team, or extremely quick frigates could weapons jam and warp jam the event team in order to keep them from achieving their objectives.
Here is a good event summary from last month's Mordu's Legion conflict. |

Until then how about you show some kind of appreciation for what is here at the moment. I'm all on for good feedback, positive or negative, all long as it's constructive. GM Vegas wrote:Cleared the thread of silly comments. See you in battle!
I see that my post was deleted. So for my part, you have my apologies.
And thank you again.

Thank you CCP for working to accommodate. much appreciated.
*** especially since I hadn't decided on a good excuse for ditching work a half hour early to catch the tail end of the event. :-P |

Garrett Blacknova wrote: And I have to ask, even as you're complaining about this, you're sounding very reasonable and well-thought-out in your complaints.
I have backed others and in other games as well. I feel if you have a worldwide game, you need to make sure events are run at times when people in all time zones can play. Whether it be they are run for 24 hours (or longer) or separate events for different regions, you have to make sure to try and cater to those timezones. It's different than say I am in America, and I decided to play on an EU server instead of my own America server.
And I / we (at least most of us) understand that not all events can happen at times we in particularly agree with. It just happens that way sometimes. But when you start to see a pattern emerge, you begin to wonder. All we are asking is to have events that we can participate in at a decent time. And as mentioned, even with the extension, West Coast is still screwed.
Like I said, we appreciate someone from CCP is willing to stay so the event could be extended, but there has got to be a better way to manage these events. |

Thank you CCP!
I would like to propose the following for a potential solution. CCP has offices in Iceland, China, and in the USA. This provides a nearly 24 hour coverage of someone within the organization being at work during their normal hours of operation. We also know that the matches need to be created manually at the moment. Why not have someone in one of the offices remote desktop into the system that the matches are being created on?
Thanks again, the extension has been a huge help! |

Kind of hard to enjoy it if you can't participate in it. Yeah you extended the time frame and that's great for some people but it still leaves a lot of people out. You're right though, it is necessary to have someone there to make sure it goes according to plan; I didn't think of mishaps, fortunately Concept Proof has provided us with a solution.

You're going to have to do this eventually if you don't want the majority of the western hemisphere raging at you every time you hold an event, especially one that gives away stuff. |

WOW! I truly am thankful that CCP granted my request even though I couldn't make the event (stupid tennis match took longer than expected) but still glad that some other people were satisfied . |

So in the spirit of this new found egalitarianism will we be seeing a roll in TZs for the EVE AT next year to spread the CCP word to new regions in prime time?
All it would need would be a bit of that planning you talked about from this global company.
Didn't think so.
