This usually only happens in particularly laggy matches, but since the latest update, it's been happening ALL the time.
Try to hack, hold circle. Aiming with a Sniper Rifle, hold L1.
Either of these "hold button" functions regularly cuts out during gameplay. While scoped in (particularly problematic with the aforementioned Sniper Rifles), the viewpoint frequently cuts back to an unscoped view. When trying to hack alone, it's almost impossible to actually complete a hack - usually taking at least 3 times as long as SHOULD be required because of the repeated resets that happen. during the hack. If I start a hack and someone else shows up to back me up, I will ALWAYS, without question, end up with a Hack Assist even though I was the first one to initiate the hack.
I've tested this with 4 different controllers, 2 of which are less than 3 months old, and all of which work perfectly on every other game I own - including other multiplayer games where I have to hold a button down to perform a function.
I can say with absolute certainty that the problem isn't something at my end, and it worked (mostly) fine before the latest update. There were times - as mentioned, mostly in laggy games) - where this would happen before, but it's become much worse lately. |

Which headset are you using?
If it is the Sony PS3 wireless then separation between the controller and the headset is necessary. Otherwise they seem to butt heads and the controller resets itself constantly. The resetting was referred to in last weeks Bug update.
If you are using a different headset then make sure your wireless router or other Blue Tooth interfering electronics are moved away from your PS3 and your controller. Of course if it is Blue Tooth you might have the same problem as the Sony version.
Past that we are back to my standard responses.
Do Not plug in any other Controllers even just to charge them. DUST does not like that.
If your DS3 is old or older than it might be past its prime. Try a New DS3, if you can, and see if that solves the problem. If you are mechanically or electronically inclined take it apart. They use a really cheap solution for connecting a cable to the circuit board. Two pins hold the cable in contact with the board. My cable had one hole that the pin aligns with tear out and it made life miserable (well, that and charging my other controller).
If the cable is good the problem is most likely the contacts. Without a connector the chance of corroding is very high and the circuit board contacts will need to be massaged back to health. I do not know if the cable has the problem as only the circuit boards I have seen exhibited the corrosion.
One last thing occurs to me, try running with the USB charging cable connected. A weak or failing battery might lead to problems as well. Anyway, it would be good to test just in case it helps.
I solved mine by buying a new DS3 on sale in January as I was unable to solve the broken cable in a timely fashion. |

As I already said...

The headset (a cheap Bluetooth one) has been plugged in on charge for half the night without making any difference from when it was turned on, so I'm certain that isn't the problem either - although it's good to know in case that's been making the problem even worse. I'll see if I can find a way to gauge that, and might be able to get somewhere. |

And bumping this because it's still happening, and I'm sure I can't be the only one it's happening to.
Although I do have to mention that it was a lot less of a problem today than it has been at any point since the last update - and this with the headset running the whole time I've spent playing, which helps to assure me it's not the headset causing the problem. |
