What i'm saying is you making us wait for the next major update because of FanFest.
Many players in Dust 514 know about FanFest but don't really care because we're new to the scene. To me FanFest is, "look what i've done daddy!"

You should care! There will be a sheetstorm of new info coming. If it is like last year, there will be some juicy keynotes to sink our teeth into. :D |

You guys should also keep in mind that while the three to six months means between full expansions. We tend to put out point releases between expansions that contain additional fixes, changes, and other stuff. |

I'm actually trying to remember back to last year's FanFest--I didn't attend, but I watched most of the Dust stuff online. Just off the top of my head, I can only remember two things that were presented as "this is what we're working on and you should be excited about":
1. PvE with a funny action-figure mock-up of how it would look.
2. Orbital strikes from EVE directly into Dust (real-time).
We have OBs now and they're cool from a technical standpoint, but we haven't progressed beyond the OB in really any way--like being able to fire back from the ground, for example.
We don't have PvE and, despite having it in the Open Beta launch trailer, we have no idea when it'll be coming.
If this is what we have to look forward to again, just a bunch of cool stuff we won't see until far, far down the line, then FanFest is just going to make me like the game less because of the reminder of how good it could be, yet how mediocre it is because of extremely slow development.
EDIT: I'm sure there was more, and I'd love to talk about how we probably don't have any of that either. |

CCP Give us a major update now. when it comes to FanFest just talk about this is where we are, and this is where we're going. The fans you're talking to at FanFest is going to be EVE players. |

CCP, a good delaying tactic would be one, just one, new map. If you're feeling crazy, make it two new maps. The broken skirmish map from replication would keep peeps happy-happy until then too. ;)
Presto! Whinge level reduced 40-60 per cent, enough to take us to fanfest. |

Hahahaha! The only beta testing you'll get from me until a substantial build comes out is forum lurking. I imagine most people feel the same way. Its to bad I played this game to much and got burned out because of the copious amounts of NOTHING TO DO in the game. Guess I'm going to wait until your "walk" catches up with your talk. |

I have two hundred contacts in my list and 40 of them are still sitting at 0 kills, 0 wp and 0 deaths. I guess some folks made good on the no play until new content.
I guess I will also cut my Dust 514 playtime today in favor of Borderlands 2. |

watched the IGN video and was amazed by how little was even talked about 99.99% i already knew from previous videos even... and yes i know the purpose of it was just to help get the game out there but it was the first thing CCP did in several months that was public, just thought they could have done more honestly.
a few things made me scratch my head and think tho like weapon customization... i thought they had this done but was a task to implement... in video he said no but it was a good idea... which DEV knows whats going on there because this guy basically announced that it has in fact not been worked on.
but in the video he said new build in this quarter... sooo... it ant be to far away... hopefully. |

The guy on the video was David Reid. He's the CMO(Chief Marketing Officer) of CCP games. So gameplay and design things aren't his area of expertice and frankly they shouldn't be. |

Sure, it's not a build. But it's more content, which has been the prevailing gripe throughout this thread. My desire to play OMS has quite algebraically doubled now. Give 'em some credit.
Compared to most companies, CCP are saints on the content release schedule. Just look at how long it took Bethesda to get their act together. What's more: you aren't paying for any stupid map packs.
IMO: 3-6 months is perfectly reasonable, but the greatest sin CCP can commit is silence. And they had been committing that sin an awful lot until this last week.
So keep up the communication Devs! You guys are still back-logged on whining and rage, but we'll get the last of it out soon enough and get back to providing useful ideas and balance/bug comments.

Seriously, I know half of the forums here are going to complain and rage about what I'm about to say but it's okay because I'm not going to read the responses.

So, you all want day one DLC... cause that is what i am reading. And for free? Not even COD can do that so chilllllll the kitten down... CCP great work keep em comming....
Tell you what , you want the development team to hurry and get things better, faster, and nicer???? BUY STUFF so they can hire new and more talented people (not saying that the current devs are not talented, you can do stuff i could never do). Make it rain boys, i bet that if we all buy 100$ of AUR they-Śll give us the ability to hop on a ship, get to the navigation room and shoot the capsuleer in the head withing 5 months or hijack a titan class ship XD.
Or we could just give the money to CCP FOXFOUR and leave all the work on his shoulders. |

Adding more fuel to the pay to win fire isn't going to get them to use more human resources on a title that's about as featureless an open beta I've ever seen. Dust would greatly benefit from quarterly updates in it's current state, else it will die a death inside of 6 months. |

No, what we are all waiting for is the actual content. We've all been playing through the same very limited test content, helping test one gameplay and stability release after another. We're waiting for the full range of racial dropsuits, weapons, and vehicles. We're waiting for a wide variety of temperate world maps to play on. Waiting for land ownership in a persistent world to have a reason to fight.
An expansion or DLC would be adding more world types to fight on, one or more types of PVE, or something like combat on stations or ships.

DUST is closer to a real software beta than what other games advertise as a beta, which are really just early access releases to make sure the servers won't catch on fire.

That's a cop out. They are using beta to protect the game from negative review despite being commercially released. |

pretty sure he said at the end of this quarter, considering were still in Q1(March,31 being the end of this quarter) we can expect it sometime next month before fanfest(like they originally said they were going to release it.)
unless he spoke wrong and isnt aware when this quarter ends, then i'd expect it to be release in Q2(April,May,June)

CCP Nullarbor wrote:CCP Pokethulhu meant 3-6 months between builds. This current build launched in mid December so it's been just over 2 months. So.... a 1-4 month wait for the next? This games cannot survive that long on what is in game right now without some serious content updates. This game will empty out quicker than a pizza box at a weight watchers convention if they realize that there will be no new content for anywhere from 1-4 months.
So.... unless you mean AFTER the next build it will be that long between builds, and the new build is a HUGE update, you might want to keep it to yourself how far away the next build will be.
.....oh wait.... |
