I was watching the IGN livestream and I noticed that the CCP Dev. said "three to six months for a new build". And I said no way!! We have had this! build for four months and to expect folks to be ok with another six month wait before a new build drops??
Sorry but no. I hope that it was just my imagination but hearing " three to six months for a new build" just really ticked me off and also had me say dude!! PS4 launch by then!! lots of AAA games out by then. |

There's so many little things they could even fix that I can't imagine would take much time.
I'm looking at you- no war points for drop ship CRU spawning.
Even adding some new maps. Comeon. Its Beta. Not like people will really have room to complain if a few of them have some small bugs.
And if that bug is true about damage mod stacking. Um, comeon. |

Should be less than a month for a new build, they said 3 months ago to expect the new weapons in under a few weeks becuase they could just "stream them in"
So not only do we have no new core features for 3-6 months but we are going to be stuck with the half sized pool of weapons?!?!? why! |

There is a difference between "a new build every three to six months" and "a new build in three to six months".

Current build is from 17-20th December (I'm not sure about the exact date).

Next time you sign in look at how long you been with you corp, because all corp members had to rejoin after the build. It was not a content/feature build, it was a bugs and glitches build, but it was considered a new build. So, one month and eighteen days we have had this build |

I think they may be counting codex and chromosome as the same build. Chromosome was mostly bug fixes, not much shiny stuff. That could be the 4 month count, back to when codex was released in October.
There was a wipe without new build on Jan 10th, new build that was mostly bug fixes was about 2 weeks before that. So, about 2 months on this build, about 4 since major content added.
3-6 mounths between builds would put next one in month or two, maybe released to coincide with fan fest somehow though. |

Chromosome was a seperate build, that's why it had patch notes. Technically it was like you said the same build as codex in terms of content, but it was most deffinatly a new build. So we are overdue a new build as the frequency of all build this past year have been every 6-8 weeks, we are currently almost at week 7 |

That 3-6 months major content build release schedule isn't bad. It's actually fairly quick one. Now IF that DEV comment in IGN was that next content update is 3-6months from THIS date, then it's alarming.
But I highly doubt that and would err on the side that listener misunderstood the comment and it's timeframe; to be starting from this day as opposed to from last major build.
Here is a quote from CSM minutes, now that they have finally releaced with including DUST sections.
Quote:"CCP's release cadence was averaging once every three months for major build updates, with the capability of smaller content uploads that don't require Sony approval that add things like new maps and new weapons and new game modes to Singularity in between the major releases" source: http://community.eveonline.com/council/transcripts/2012/CSM_CCP_Meetings_December_2012.pdf
Things to note in that document and that quote, is that thae meeting was held in December 2012, so it still references DUST being in Singularity. |

A game doesn't need a mountain of content to stop being stale in beta. I can think of other wildly popular shooters that went through beta with only one or two maps. It's the game play and design that make it. It doesn't even have to be that pretty.
The problem with DUST is the game just doesn't deliver on so many levels. It's been a completely over-hyped disappointment. Far too long in development and leans far too heavily on the promise of integration with EVE but delivers very little. |

Well i rather wait a long time for a good decent new build then get a constant stream of new maps, regardless of the map, all it comes down to is shooting the other guy in the face and that mechanic is unlikely to change.
Though i wouldn't mind getting to know this Skirmish 1.0 everyone in beta is talking about. |

I'm now watching the recording of that IGN live gameplay/discussion and that comment OP quoted from David Reid, the CCP Marketing guy, isn't a answer to question of when we can expect the next content update to be deployed..
That 3-6 months was his answer to live feed question of, "How often we can expect content updates and will they be tied into EVE content updates? "
Reid's answer was "Right now we are looking at is somewhere betwene quarterly and a semi-anual basis - every three months to six months - we expect to having big content updates coming out. "
Question was asked when we can expect next big content update to arrive and Reid's answer to that was along the lines of "In the next quarter", meaning Q2 of 2013, April - June time frame. That puts it into 1 month - 3 months time frame.
My bet would be one of two point releases and then big content update at Fanfest at the end of April. |

Just thinking, when is the summer expansion of EvE on-line set for?
If I remember right its always been around April/May/June time. Its almost march now which would put us close to the 3 month mark. And I have a feeling there will be some changes to FW in both Dust and EvE, but to get them working it would make sense to launch both new builds at the same time...
Add to that April/May/June would be in-line with 3-6 months from the last build for Dust514....
It makes sense in my head anyway. |

I think part of the frustration is Chromosome was mostly a stability/balance build and didn't really add any new content. And since it was roughly 2 months prior to Chromosome that we got a new build, it's now been over 4 months since any significant changes.
With 2 game modes (OMS and regular Ambush are the same thing, let's be honest) and the same 4 or so maps, it's getting stale; to hear 3 to 6 months between builds is a little worrying. |

If I was going to release a HUGE update that added tonnes of content, game modes and DUST/EVE integration, I would rather launch it around FanFest time. That's just my OCDness though. When you consider that there will be heaps of keynotes and presentations made at FanFest, it gives CCP the chance to release all that info and explain it in a timely manner. :) Not too far away pal, just shy of 2 months...and I may be wrong. |
