As the title states, I'm asking for the Logi suit to have it's sidearm back. No more, no less. This is a purely selfish request, and if there are any reasons Logi should NOT have a sidearm please try to make them apparent, but it feels a tad off that we have all these pockets and none that a pistol can fit in.... |

Increased firepower is sacrificed for more versatility.
Sidearms are used when:
1)no more ammo
But logistics can field nanohives
2)magazine runs out before you kill someone
Either you've strayed too far from the people you're meant to support, or the person you're up against specialises in 1v1 situations, which a logi is almost never expected to be in.
3)the situation demands it
Usually these situations involve a heavy, a corner, and a nasty surprise. Once again, stick to the people you're meant to be supporting.

4. Your main weapon is useless at current range. Healing someone in this game is not like a TF2 Medic; that is, it isn't a viable combat option. So if someone pops into your group's face, I'd like to be able to pull out an SMG instead of just roll over and accept it.
Also, as for point one ANYONE can field Nanohives, with the notable exception of Heavies, so that point doesn't hold up too well. |

My MD is my sidearm, my primary weapon is an HMG. But since I'm already carrying shield boosters, rechargers, armor plates, repairers, nanohives, repair tools, and injectors, I asked a nearby heavy to carry it for me. It's really heavy. |

one rather important aspect of losing the sidearm is that it makes logi suits disproportionally weak AV suits.
heavies are heavies, obviously. but even a scout or an assault could strap on a swarm launcher, use an smg to defend himself, and contribute against enemy tanks or dropships. the logi is kinda SoL.
that being said i would be ok with the logi having no sidearm... OR having reduced hitpoints, OR having a larger hitbox, OR having reduced mobility... maybe even any 2 or 3 of those things. but all 4 combined feels like a bit to much. |

You realize you'd also be giving Scout Type II's a sidearm as well...which just makes it superior to the Type I other than speed... |

Jesus, the total irrational failure to consider arguments other than your own is a serious obstacle to communicating with you.
Logi sidearms were removed for balance. Make an evidence-based case for them needing more firepower and maybe someone will listen to you... but it won't be me because this is a waste of time. |

A logi's sidearm is the repair gun. What would be super cool is if it could deconstruct an enemy's armor just as it repairs an ally's. (Wouldn't have any effect on a shield of course.) |

Would there even be a point to the assault suit if a secondary spot was given to logi's? Maybe for proto assault suits but regular assault suits would be kind of second banana. Plus, logi's are not suppose to be fighting on the front lines long enough, to have to use a side arm. You should be behind Snipers, Heavies and Assault troops, picking them up when they are down and keeping them healthy and well supplied.
If you feel you NEED it, you are not supporting your team the way you should be.

I have to agree, we logi have 3 or 4 equipment slots, enough highs and lows. I run with an MD most of the time, and yes close range causes issues, but thats why my squad is so close. They are my sidearm and im there personal field medic. Sorry but from a logi, its a no from me as someone has said, it would need to be balanced with other suits. |

Logi can't field AV nades or a swarm launcher? How about the infinite ammo and wonderful set of triage tools they cab carry at the same time?
Someone made the point that everyone can carry a hive, and that is true. But nobody can carry a hive, injector, rep tool and CRU. That is why you have no sidearm. |

Well, all be it an unpopular suggestion, my feeling is that the logi suit should loose the light weapon slot & instead have 2 sidearm slots. IMHO The logi should be hanging back, looking after their team & only forced to draw out their weapons when the enemy gets too close. Which is what I generally do .. poor KDR but lots of WP.
Or have that as another variant of the logisuit.

They all carry enough equipment, they all shoot the same guns, it doesn't matter that one can't carry as much equipment, and one can't carry as much shields. Those factors have next to no impact on the result of shooting someone! Yay, people look different when we shoot eachother! Welcome to smoke and mirrors. The only appreciable difference in a suit in this game is in the Heavy's inability to carry equipment.
Logis don't need sidearms, they need teamwork. |
