So CCP added new AUR suits today, in case you guys didn't see. VK0's for all classes, and they all cost 160 AUR.
You'll need the respective suit @ lvl 3 to be able to buy it. Now this is pretty lame in general, imo it should be lvl 4, but that's another thread for another time by someone else perhaps.
My complaint is that in the store, heavy suits is the most expensive suit, but now magically it costs the same as other suits because it's AUR?
Why can't heavy suits be a little cheaper in ISK since they cost the same in AUR compared to other suits?
If balancing the suit through cost was the reason, then that's been thrown out the window here then huh.
Make Advanced / Proto Heavy suits better then I can say the cost for these suits are fine, but until then I say it's a rip off. It's no longer "I can buy the proto version with ISK" because it's not equal to the asking AUR price compared to other suits.
If it was equal, then EVERY suit should cost the same, and since the most expensive one is the Heavy VK0, all the suits should cost 85k ISK...fair is fair.
Yeah I'm getting the "better deal" but to get the better deal I'm forced to use REAL money. While every other class can use the ISK version and not feel like they're getting ripped.

If i'm in a cheap suit and i'm killing upper tier players do i get more ISK?

Just becuase you want your suit to be cheaper doesn't mean it should be. I run logi and If I ran a proto one with all advanced equip it would be expensive as **** too. Way more then assualt or scouts (don't know about heavy as my alt does'nt have proto yet) but I'm not here complaining about it.

pay to win is awesome. Everyone knew what the game business model was microtransactions when they signed up. Free to play doesn't me free.

I think the heavy probably should cost a few more aurum. Keep it's cost equal to the relevant isk cost of the suits.
In regards to the pay-to-win argument. I generally see nothing wrong with how CCP does it. You don't get any special access to gear that isn't accessible to player that don't spend a penny. You just get access to that gear a little faster. Remember, this is a buisness, CCP needs to make money somehow.

lol too true...
Just kinda sad that I have this neat little quote from CCP's chief marketing officer, David Reid:
GÇ£But say youGÇÖre a real gun nut and you wanna try out every game in the game. The virtual currency we sell, the Aurum, will allow you to use those guns. They wonGÇÖt give you an unfair advantage GÇô it is very important to us, as a skill-based game, a first person shooter, that free to play isnGÇÖt pay to win. So itGÇÖll allow you to customise and to sidegrade; weGÇÖll certainly sell a lot of cosmetic items that weGÇÖll allow you to buy and personalise your appearance a bit if you want to be a bright pink soldier weGÇÖll probably let you do that, but that wonGÇÖt be something youGÇÖll do as a free to play gamer.GÇ¥
Skilled based game, but I can get dmg mods that needs less CPU... interesting. I'm still waiting on these cosmetic items though....so far it's all been P2W. |

Pretty sure every sane person on the planet knows the proto fat suits need a massive price drop or buffed and still priced dropped. 250,000isk for the suit, by itself, for a vk.1 vs ~110k for every other suit which all have more slots (both high and low). So we get to pay 210k isk more for a single high slot above the B? Awesome, where do I sign up? |

People might be mistaking what I'm saying....
I have NO PROBLEM in using AUR, the problem I have right now is somehow the heavy VK0 AUR cost the same as every other suit, just because it's AUR.
Just lower the ISK price for heavies if these same heavy suits cost = every other suit in AUR. |

P2W in dust is about the which attribute and to what degree is an item better. damage on a AR being 5 points higher than proto would probably be a bit much. While lower fitting cost isn't a big deal. yes its gives you more cpu/pg for other stuff but thats a suit benefit not a direct damage in your face advantage.
Long term the proto level aurum gear will be what sells but now its good to offer early access gear. |

been out for some time.... lots of mods with reduced cpu/pg if u are willing to pay $
long as they dont EVER allow u to pay $ for SP (boosters aside) then idc what they offer. I dont know anyone that rocks AUR gear all the time... otherwise I would only target them and force them to spend more ;)

low tier heavy suits are cried about. Once we have max classes(proto v proto) fighting each other heavys get the short stick by a mile. proto assaults crush proto heavy's. |

As a long time EvE player, I can't agree with this more. EvE has always been about time in game, training skills and reaching goals that those skills allow you to reach. Dust is based the same way based on it's own genre, it takes skills to get to a certain point and those skills are learned with skill points.
The short of it is In EvE you can buy Plex, sell it, and get a nicer ship faster than grinding for the isks, but you still need the skill to use it. In Dust you can buy AURum and get a little bit nicer item faster than grinding the isks for it, but you still need to have the skill to use it.
seems pretty balanced from my point of view as long as SP is never able to be bought. (in either game)

Let's not forget the fact that these aurum variants are just placeholders for the user until he/she has trained enough to use the prototype ISK variants which will then make the aurum variants pointless to own other than to look good. On top of that, once the player market finally opens, anyone with enough ISK will be able to buy these aurum variants with ISK from other players as second hand items. This practically nullifies the notion of a pay to win model. |

Oh for sure. I don't think any Heavy out there can deny this. The problem however is I don't see CCP buffing the suits when there's been so many tears about the class already.
Every heavy would appreciate a buff in the higher tier suits, but I can't see it happening, and if CCP decides to go the other way and nerf it further, then heavies may as well not be in the game. |

A placeholder for what? 250k ISK suit? It's better to buy the AUR version or heavies will go broke spending over 300k ISK for a fully decked out suit.
lolPlayer market...coming Soon in 2015.
So far everything of AUR is P2W...there's been NOTHING cosmetic.
Not saying there' anything wrong with paying for stuff with AUR, but it's a bit unfair on heavies since it's FAR more convenient to buy the AUR version than ISK. |

You can keep buying suits with an out of game backing while the ingame player can't produce enough suits to sell on the open market to beat AUR prices once the market goes open.

How is it an advantage when a person who is using the AUR suit loses real money, and the person using the ISK suit is only losing fake money. I understand where a lot of you guys are coming from, I'm just saying. |
