I've gotten myself up to having two available slots for for my Assault Armor, I've tried both fits and find myself liking the doubled up 87 hit points which let's me get in the face of others, vs. the slow 2hps with the Rep which seems more duck and cover.
I can't justify going up in Mechanics to get the better Rep, since it's only 3hps (+1hps over the lower tech one). Anyone gone the Rep route and think it's better than dual Armor Plates? What about Dual reps?

I'm logistics and prefer to have a rep and a armor plate. I'm guessing our playstyles are different with our different roles bit if you have a competent logistics then by all means head with double armor (you go slower though). If you don't trust people to actually try and rep you then an armor rep might be the best bet. |

This is what I do as well.
The rep isn't much, but it does eventually bring your armor back up.
Totally important in the long run, instead of having 0 armor for the next enemy you face, atleast you've gotten some of it recovered. |

Roughly 44 extra HP for an armour plate. If you run a repairer and survive for longer than 22 seconds with less than max HP, you've technically surpassed how much HP the plate could've given you. Definitely depends on play style and medic availability. |

I fully skilled into armor reps and i'd say they are better, sure you may not be able to go Jackie chan with an AR but you'll survive longer if you stay out of trouble, i.e. charging 3-5 guys by yourself or dancing on top of some ones tank. if you fully skill into it then you will be nearly invincible if you take things steady and you have a team with you.
Lets put make an example shall we...
Joe Blueberry has extra armor and manages to kill Tom Redberry but lost about a hundred armor and has about 110 armor left and Toms friend turns the corner and finds our hero with half armor and goes after him and 3rd worlds Joe B. and survives by 10hp.
BUT... if Joe has armor repairs and gets in a fight with Tom and wins, he will have like 60hp left but at 5hp every second plus the attributed skill increasing the rate by 25% fully upgraded, he will have no problem with Toms friend as long as the Jackie chan stunts are put into a more tactful use and wins thanks to the armor that is repaired plus what armor is fixed mid-combat and takes cover for full fix and gets back into the fight as if nothing ever happened(save for some missing rounds obviously). |

It all comes down to how much you trust the logis around you. Generally for public matches i run an Enhanced Plate and a Militia Armor Rep, however if I'm running with my corp and I know someone in my squad is another Logi, I'll use dual plate because I know I'll have him repping me so I dont have to do it myself. |

Ahh.. maybe it was 87 total. I'm not at home so I couldn't double check before I posted. ( I swore I was close to 340hp however with dual armor)
I've only been playing on the weekends and I rarely get anyone repairing or healing me. Guess I should pay for voice so I can get more involved in the group tactics.
Thanks for the input. |

And to answer your question, if you have a logi bro on your squad / following you around then dual armour - if you don't then plate + rep. One caveat though, if you often find yourself losing fire fights by only a small margin with the rep + plate fit, then it might be worth switching to the dual plate, even without logi on the field (you can always use supply depots if need be.) |

3hp/s vs 2hp/s is a 50% increase. Armor plates have two downsides. 3,5, or 10% reduction to speed AND jump height.. Which will effect you, believe me. I used to run full armor tank... But I can't justify it. You get **** rep speed, **** penalties, and too few logis out there will rep you.
With shields you get great recharge without needing modules, the HP buffer is low but still pretty good. Your highs can have buffer and your lows can have shield regulators which are AWESOME... Armor is **** in this game. |

I went into the fitting manager with the EVE buffer mindset - in a fight against any number of people, I want to be able to last as long as possible while enduring straight DPS. If I survive, it might've been that extra armor that put me over the edge and made the difference. If I die, the armor repper wouldn't have made a difference either way.
Also, it gives a teammate logi a role besides just repping me up after rezzing my corpse. AND you can always suit-switch at a supply depot to recover lost armor.

This is exactly how I've been operating thus far. Regardless, I'll SP into the next tier of Rep this weekend and try for a bit. |

Armor is **** in this game. This is true, but it is also a large CPU/PG jump from one tier to the next. I do agree with you, but fitting requirements need to be considered as well. Are the fitting requirements for higher level armor reps worth the slight armor repair increase which might cut out your grenades/sidearm/equipment? |

I run with dual armor plates; the repper just seems useless to me. I either play Ambush OMS or Skirmish so if I take damage and a logi isn't around to heal me, I book it to the nearest supply depot and switch suits. It's made for some pretty tense moments though because I've sat at 0 armor & 0 shield plenty of times |

I've run dual plates in previous builds, and with chromosome I decided to run the plate and the repper. I have to say, my survivability shot through the roof with the repper as long as I play as though I'm running a militia suit (i.e. duck and cover, strafe etc; don't ambush 4 blokes and expect to survive). Because of the repper, I'm less dependant on logi's or supply depots, which comes in very handy playing traditional ambush or skirmish games where locating one can be very inconvenient. It also comes in handy for drawn out 1v1 engagements.
I run a type 2 or skinweave suit with an exile rifle (most of the time), and I've taken down many A and B series suits with GEK's and HMG's this fit. |

Speed is king for the lone wolf. For solo play I ditch the plate and fit a kinetic catalyzer paired with repper. Strafe to mitigate damage, and sprint to optimal engagement position. If overrun and outnumbered, take one of the bastards down with you. |

I've been running dual militia REP on my heavy and honestly, I like that I don't have to rely on a logi to always come heal me. I do have a logi on my core squad of friends I play with but even then, he plays ground assault in a tank so I can't expect him to get out and heal me.
The advantage I have at this point on my heavy is the fact that I have Weaponry at level 5 so I get that 10% damage AND the 10% damage modifier. I also have field mechanics at level 5 so that's an extra 25% armor I think it is.
Simply put, my heavy has about 950 HP with shield and armor put together.
The only time I run dual armor is when my logi is actually being a heal bot with me and at that point, having the dual plates helps me as it puts me at about 1100 total health. |
