Those who played the original Planetside may remember these. Basically there is an area where you can go that is a virtual reality test range. In the virtual reality test range there are a bunch of targets sitting there. The targets are different types of armor and vehicles found in the game. There is also a large area filled with different terrain features.
In the center there is a terminal where you can switch drop suits / weapons. You can also call in vehicles. All free of charge.
The point is this. The best place to test out how to use your new mass driver and how much damage it does vs. various dropsuits and vehicles is not the battlefield. It's a controlled environment where the targets holds still so you can check out how much arc you need and how close you need to hit to the target.
The best place to learn your LAV does not drive anything at all like a warthog is not the middle of a battlefield.
The best time to learn to fly your new multi hundred thousand ISK dropship is not by crashing it into the ground complete with a bunch of screaming passengers. It's somewhere where you can blow it up for free, without upsetting half your team.
All you need to do is create a map where we can go test this stuff out. Either a map or two we all share or something single player on the client. Whatever is easier / less resource intensive. |

You're point is very well justified. I like how you spelled out exactly why such a feature could negatively impact your enjoyment of Dust 514.

Good point. I could really see where EVE University might have an interest in a training area they can use as a group. |

This is something that really must be implemented to at the very least to learn to fly dropships. |

That is very constructive form of feedback you have there. Did you figure it out all by yourself? How many Bothans had to die to bring us this two letter word?
But I do agree with you that there must be a training area of sorts. No? So you mean yes! Fascinating. |

I think it would be useful to new players especially in learning how certain weapons like the MD and how vehicles like the DS handle, but you obviously can't earn any sp or isk from this. oh and while I think this might be useful the best way to learn how to do something in this game is to go out there and do it in an actual match. |

America's Army, the U.S. Army's FPS, required all players to shoot some targets before joining their first game so that everyone at least knew the basic controls. The beginning tutorial could at least include something similar. |

They have said that something like a training area will be in the game eventually, but not anytime soon. They feel that they need to put alot of work into it to do it right and currently have alot on their table. |

Glad to hear it...there's tons of things we all want them to do...but limited resources to accomplish big bang objectives.
*sigh* Must be patient |

I'm a big supporter of this idea, and the idea of having shooting ranges that come with damage feedback numbers and a variety of other customization options for us to use. I remember my first time piloting an LAV...
"So accelerate its R1 right? Oh...ok so its X? Nope...uhhhh, what's the control map?.....wtf? Back foward and steering are all the *KABOOM*"
And that time I tried piloting a dropship for the first time!
"Ok so gain altitude...alright going up, this is fine, now I'll just touch down here and pick up a few pe-*KABOOM*" |

Hmm...the first two times I called an LAV they were stolen by blues....the first time I got on a DS I think it was the pilots first time too....camera went totally haywire for about 5 seconds then we crashed with a flaming explosion... |
