Ohhh and btw i have nearly 2,000,000 SP, and heavies STILL are a problem. ...and this is supposed to translate into a heavy NOT killing you because...? You are an assault, the easiest class to play, with an assault rifle, the easiest weapon to use. At low skill levels you are barely vulnerable, at high skill levels you are nearly unbeatable. Yes, the easiest class to play, when skilled up, is also the most powerful class to play. You have speed comparable to a scout. You have shields and armor HP totals, that when leveled up, is on par with even mid-level heavies. Your assault rifle has next-to-nonexistent sway and kick. You have an instantaneously stone-statue-still ADS. Your assault rifle has dps so high that it doesn't matter if you're shooting a target that's beyond your already laughably far optimal range; if the bullets can touch that person, that person is dead. Your gun fires 2-3 bullets for the price of one, so it's actually a mini burst rifle automatically. (Go ahead and tap your trigger and see.) You can fire your gun indiscriminately without penalty. Your weapon does not overheat, you have no chance of accidentally blowing yourself up, and your clip is almost as long as an SMGs. Quite honestly, with all that going for you... you have no business complaining about heavies dominating CQC, and snipers dominating LRC, because everything in-between belongs to you. You get pissed at a sniper, you run to his perch with a LAV or some other vehicle and kill him. You get pissed at a heavy, you shoot him across a field or at a distance down a corridor, and some of your kind can even beat heavies in CQC. And the ONLY thing that seems to slow you guys down when you're travelling in packs, is a barrage of flux grenades. You have nothing to complain about, except the unreasonable nerf to the Breach and Tactical ARs. So just bite the bullet, squad up with some of the more skilled assault players, and learn from them how to play your class; because honestly any kind of complaints coming from your kind, imho, is whining and tantamount to trolling. ^ well put, very constructive response. I play a heavy, and honestly i have been mowed down by many assault rifles. I actually had to stop playing until i put a considerable amount of SP into Sharpshooting for my heavy to get a decent range without having to be inside a kill house setup to get kills. Every class and setup has strengths and weaknesses. I decided to focus on Heavy machine guns. I get killed by ARs all the time even 1v1. Due to my lack of skill? may be. or lack of SP? also may be. but when i come face to face with anyone, they almost always melt at close range. Your tired of getting mowed down by heavys? Don't run up in front of them and hold a pistol to their face, flank, run to a supply depot and pull out a laser rifle, i can't tell you how many times i hear a laser rifle and i try to sprint away like a walrus on crack, only to be melted down. Rock paper scissors i can't agree more with this analogy. And please understand the range on the heavy machine gun is crap until you put some decent points into it.
Try playing a heavy (not to be OP just like everyone else running a heavy, which isn't true). But to get a feeling for why it might not be as great as you think. I did that recently with laser rifles because i was getting my rear handed to me by them alot. My first reaction to laser rifles? I hated them. Different style of play. Master your setup and find ways to counter other setup's strengths. You can't beat everything. |

I play as scout. There is nothing wrong with heavies, just stay out of close to medium range. If you see one and you do not have any squad mates with you, just run away and attack from medium to long range. It takes some skill to play heavy, because you cannot run away from assault or scout, so you must have good situational awareness and support of other troops. |

yes, let's nerf a class because the mechanics surrounding them punish me for running headlong at them facefirst.
People crying about OP this, OP that, when the guys absolutely devastating them in the game have two buddies and they focus fire, then the logi behind the heavy is wearing a trollface mask while he repairs the heavy's armor.
Oh wait, Gek people do that to...

If you can come back with a significantly improved KDR, we can have a constructive discussion.
DUST has a feature called rock/paper/scissors. Not everything can be attacked as if it were an AR. Everything can be defeated, but it may require a different tactic than you would use against another AR user.
So try it out and see what counters everyone else has learned. You will die in ways you didn't anticipate and you can then use those tactics against the weapon user you were having trouble with. Do you guys even "read" things before you answer ? I could use a heavy my self with a Forge gun.... true. But I USING AN ASSAULT DROPSUIT BECAUSE I WANT TOO!! I shouldn't need to OP my self because IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN PLAY THE GAME. At this rate is going to be Heavies V's Heavies, with snipers trying to kill them from 5 miles away. Fun game huh?
Yes, I did read your post.
I read that you are treating a Heavy with an HMG just like you would treat another AR user and you are getting your ass handed to you because of it.
I offered you a way to get some easy lessons in how to kill those Heavies from others who have already figured it out. Simply run that fit for a few matches and take note of the dozen or so ways other classes send you back to the spawn screen. I didn't say you had to abandon your easy win AR suit forever. |

I love it when someone using the type two assault and a gek says something is overpowered and needs a nerf. Pot calling the kettle black, anyone?
edit - ran some numbers.
gek-38 base damage is 32.5.
32.5* 1.15 (from having weaponry 5) it comes out to 37.375.
the gek has a firing rate of 750 rpm which comes down to 12.5 shots a second.
12.5*37.375 = 467.1875 potential dps.
The mh-82 hmg deals 16.8 base damage.
16.8*1.15 = 19.32
2000 rpm/ 60 = 33.3 rounds a second
33.3*19.32 = 643.9 potential dps.
The advanced HMG only deals 167.7125 damage more a second than the gek, and that's only if every single round connects, which anyone can tell you never happens.
You should also keep in mind that the AR has a much longer range and far superior accuracy letting the average rifleman land quite a few headshots v.s. the much slower heavy.
The HMG isn't OP, and if someone is using it in a way that makes it seem like it is then they must have a huge skillpoint advantage on you or they are much better than you. |

Well I see two small problems here.
First problem is Range. Both weapons have a similar range although the AR can outgun most HMG (theoretical). The problem here is the optimal range. It is the same for both weapons. That means if you engage heavies at maximun range it is a) hard to aim and b) you do very little damage with 10 to 20 % effeciency you can pump clip over clip into a heavy without effect. So to be efficient with the AR you have to get closer and then its the HP and DPS Advantage of the Heavy that counts. BTW Assault MHGs can outgun most ARs.
Second Problem is Maps. Right now you have only few maps where you actually can take advantage of greater range. That is true for ambush as well as skirmish. For example on Manus Peak I rarely see heavies because there is lots of open space and you can outgun them easily. Although this is a problem it is not the fault of the heavy :)

I use the assault suit and AR and I get chewed up by heavies at close range all the time, and I hate heavies...but I don't think they need the nerf hammer of doom. Heavies are supposed to be most effective at close ranges, that is their role. My only problem with them is the heat build up of the HMG. I have not played a heavy but it seems like heat buildup isn't a huge issue, please tell me if I am wrong though. I have gone up against heavies that have fired continously for what seemed like 4 or 5 seconds and it seems like that is too long. I have avoided the spray long enough to where I am just about to kill them, then I run out of ammo in my mag and they kill me because they are still firing. Please don't think I am calling the HMG horribly OP, I just think think they need minor tweaks just like every other weapin in this game. |

i run scout without alot of sp in sharpshooting so i know the better HMG's will out range me thats when i use speed and movement to beat heavies with HMG with my SMG. i usually win 65% of the time, 30% i do not get to the sweet spot where i can dodge 90% of the rounds, 5% i get killed by someone else, usually the logi standing next to him. heavies are not OP they work just like they are ment to, yes i would like to see a slower turning rate but thats me being greedy. the only thing i could see is a slight increase of SP needed to skill into this but for the most part it is just fine.
i do like seeing militia heavies... sooo easy of kills |

Heavys is highly-specialized class. Yes it is beginner friendly class, but in the future most of them will regret about this choice and will change the way of upgrades.
Balance is good now. Close range - heavy have advantage, Long range - heavy is almost defenceless.
So use brain and dont cry on forum, nothing personal, just tired by cryers.
+1
If run right at a heavy 1 on 1 in close quarters u will die everytime dude. U think heavys are easy and that the dudes who play as them are just lucky scrubs who killed you because there gun is OP. Thats funny. My alt is a heavy, ive been playing since Dust came out 1st build, but im a noob LMFAO. Never herd of your Corp either or any other 1 or 2 man corporations popping up by the hundreds since we went Open Beta.
Funny ive never herd of you either. Simple as this. Make a heavy caracter and see how easy it is noob. You are useing crap tactics from COD. This is dust in close quarters my HMG should rule the day, unless you have skill or god forbid roll with a squad instead of pubstomping solo. You will find heavys are not OP, try soloing with one, bet you dont do as well as you do with your AR. (unless you suck at both i guess). LOL |

Wish someone would do a 'You vs. Heavy' video or tutorial. I'm definitely not a bad player, but I get mowed down by heavies at all sorts of ranges. Even trying speed doesn't seem to matter as there's usually just a fraction of an instant between damage and death when one of them sees you. I've only seen 2 types of responses to "heavies are OP" threads;
I agree
You're doing it wrong
(not counting random insults and comparisons. Yes you can kill proto-heavys with you militia smg, that's very nice)
So maybe instead of either of these responses one of the people that makes all these videos for fittings, tactics, map use, vehicles, piloting, etc etc etc...can do a video on how to combat heavy's with various suits. Not so much a blow by blow, but a general visual of how to approach, avoid, and run from them. That way someone watching could expand on the concept and practice.
Also if you think HMG's are bad wait till you encounter your first specc'd Duvolle AR user, at least you get to HEAR something before a heavy kills you lol. |
