Dropships are the quickest way to become permanently poor but it's worth it. Oh and also prepare yourself, for when you have figured out the basic's of flying and staying alive will come the hours of screaming at blueberries to get the **** out of your dropship. |

The thing i find most annoying is when you have to go 90* degrees to kill your speed so you don't crash, and a bit of advice when you've got the hang of turning throw afterburners into the mix, activate them, start the turn, and if you've done it right it'll kick in just as you're facing the way you want to go, it's the right way to do rapid course change.
oh and if you ever use afterburner(they're great fun and quite useful) never activate them if there's something overhead or try to do rapid turns like i just described if they're already on, things can end badly |

Oh something we forget to mention, the only time you should have no momentum is when you're landing or taking off, all other time's keep moving, it takes a moment to start moving if you stop and for those couple of seconds you're the easiest target on the map. |

Mithridates VI wrote:Dropship ControlsThrew together a graphic (9000 hours in MS Paint) because new pilots will find this thread and I find a lot of them have trouble visualising what the effect of each movement will be. Keep in mind that when your nose is facing the ground, the red circle is straight up and down, so relative to the ground, roll will cause you to spin in circles, if that makes sense. That's actually quite useful for new pilots, i tend to "feel" how the dropship handles these days, if you get what i mean, but it doesn't matter what help we provide the only way for them to learn is to get out there and fly. And since bojo would rage at me over his keyboard if i missed this chance, if you ever need help with your dropship fittings or just need help learning to fly drop into the channel "condor squad" there are normally at least 3-4 pilots in there at any given time and they're more than willing to help. |
