You might as well move on to shields its better than armor, use type 2 suits for assault 2 complex shield extenders should be good enough. |

Level 5 Field Mechanics will give you a healthy 25% boost to armor with no negatives. |

why not do both? Armor gives more units of health for a fraction of the SP so I skilled into it fist. |

I specced into Armor HAVs for Corp Matches, so I don't have much in terms of shielding (which for infantry is probably the best option for the moment). However, if you are going to go more armor, I think the Enhanced Armor Plates give a good chuck of HP without much additional speed loss over the Basic Plates.
Generally I run Sever Logistics, 2 Militia Shield Extenders, 1 Militia Armor Repair, and 1 Enhanced plate and it works well enough. If mobility is an issue don;t be afraid to put some levels into Vigor and the other mobility skills. They wont make up for the speed loss but the added stamina will do wonders.

The speed penalty isn't that bad really, even with basic armor plates you can up your hp by third (assault) which is pretty good trade-off for slightly decreased running speed.
But having 2 high tier armor modules isn't probably a good idea, unless you are running in a Heavy suit which might benefit from monstrous armor. (speed penalty is even less, due to heavies being relatively slow to begin with.)
As for shields, I have heard that in Eve it increases your signature radius which makes you easier to detect so it might be that now or at least in the future having huge shield hp pool won't be without it's own penalties. |

Get Field Mechanics to level 5 if you haven't already. This will give you 25% more armor and doesn't require a lot of SP. Also go for Shield Enhancements 4 for Complex Shield Mods (66 HP) and work on Shield Control which increases your shield by 5% per level but will require a lot of SP to max it. |

For now shields may be better than armor but just wait until more and more people start using flux grenades. For that reason I'm going to spec a little into armor tanking as well, so that when I face off against a competent team that uses flux grenades I don't find myself losing 4/5ths of my EHP instantly and getting killed by 2-3 bullets afterwards. It's really gotta suck for those guys in proto suits that have ~500 shield HP, xD
I'd probably just run one complex armor plate, a good armor rep, and damage mods on the other side. |

Yep, multiple people said it. Field Mechanics is the best way to get a nice, passive boost to ALL suits. Also, armor upgrades? The one that lets you use better armor plates is nice, too. The best armor plates are what, like 150 HP each?
I'm a shield assault so I haven't spent as much time playing with armor. The type II assault suit is a nice, cheap shield suit - placing an armor plate on it doesn't slow it down much and gives you a little extra, if that's what you're looking for. |

I have a suit designed for the most hostle of enviorments: assault-II 401/308hp
It's kinda funny to see someone come back at me packing fluxes and then still not have it work out for them. |
