Before getting on board, many of us watched with eager anticipation of what would come when the Open Beta made it possible to get into Dust 514. About 4 months ago, I was watching the "Welcome to New Eden" Videos, and thinking, Wow, this is just what I want to play. However what I am playing at the moment hardly resembles what I saw in those videos.
For starters, what's with the maps? Map We see in the videos, interesting maps with interior and exterior environments like this cool pedestal wasteland. There are obviously more maps out there that they've made. Why don't we see them? This is supposed to be New Eden, and apparently New Eden has only 4 planets...
What's with the Scope? I see such screens as this, and yet in the game, I can't see anything of the sort. I would love to see this starmap, and where I am about to drop in to fight. It would give some context, a location at least. Put it on a screen somewhere! Immerse me like you promised a year ago.
What's with the management? I don't run a Corp, but there is no sense of battling with it mattering. If this is beta testing, shouldn't we be testing these things? Give me the ability to put out a contract, and pick my mercs based on a team cap, and I'll show you balanced matches with players that care. I know it exists in some form because of this!
Lastly, What's with the archaic entry? I spawn as a new state of the art clone, in the future of tomorrow, and proceed to run, or drive a car that handles like a soap box racer built by the grinch's even eviler step-brother. Why can't I go into battle like this? Or something like it. Let's fly that MCC already. Let's let people man turrets on the MCC and fly it in their face, for epic battles of crazy sky fortresses. Could it be broken? Who knows, we can't test it!
All of these things are shown in the videos. Broken or not, they are in there somewhere, and I don't understand why you would show us things like this, but not even give us a glimpse of it in game? I think people deserve an explanation if they're going to stick with this more than a week.
"Come for the Chicken! Oh, chicken? That's coming soon, here's some hotdogs in the meantime..." But I saw the Chicken on the sign?! Let's get the ball rolling CCP, how about a date, a timeline, or at very least an explanation. |

I haven't been part of the closed Beta, true. I'm just asking for some kind of timeline, so I can form my expectations. At the moment, all I've seen is sweet videos from a year ago, that still haven't taken shape. |

This map was the original Skirmish gamemode with actual attackers against defenders, but was taken out due to minor imbalances (and maybe some memory leaks or something).

1-that was the pre-codex build that WAS one of the first maps in dust 514, removed because it was buggy ass hell
2-they removed all the scopes from all the AR's (except tactical and i think the burst) for future weapon customization
3-because it's fun
4-because "beta"

- As Bendtner92, they have some really cool stuff, but until we start to see more combat dynamics (such using ISK as a medium to balance situations that seem OP and vice versa) we are stuck with balanced and few maps. There is a substantial playerbase (or possibly just an internal fear, projected by CCP) that maps need to be balanced along with weapons and equipment. However, this is a perception that will have to give way eventually as eventually the map seeding (entirely unique and random) maps along with Corporation investments and Assets will be introduced and many of these things will become choices depending on what you want to accomplish. And of course, the market will be the beginning of all of this.
- Iron sights were added recently to many of the early Assault Rifles, but you can pick up the Scoped AR's with some higher skills. However the plan is still that you'll essentially be able to simply buy and equip/customize your Weapons in the future and this won't be something defined Rifle to Rifle. But for now, enjoy ^^
- I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this, but I do understand that there is a strong focus on creating a sense of location and meaning to your battles in the next patch and beyond. As well, corporations are still being expanded, but I can agree that it is imperative that they build more on this.
- Ha ha he, I agree with entry. Oh man...if only I could drop from orbit...that will be the day!
In general I'm all about getting this ball rolling, it's been far too slow and when the devs get back from their well-deserved vacation this week I hope that this game starts getting picked up to mach 2. Fanfest is next month (lots of information to be had) and from what I understand there is a build coming before Fanfest and at Fanfest.
Have some patience and I'll see you on the greens,

Played since closed beta and can tell you that things have progressed greatly in the realm of dynamics and setup. The four maps allows for consistent testing and data mining on what is used, not used, how things work. I personally am happy with how the tweaks here and there have changed the gamescape and am excited on what is in the future. I am also extremely grateful that with each reset I get back any Aurum spent, items bought with real money to then start from scratch again instead of it just disappearing on me.
This game is combining with one that is already firmly established. I hope CCP starts putting more staff on it to keep the integration going and build the dynamic more. Hell I hope for a setup of realtime battle events that last a day to make for an interesting war game event complete with logistics, outside support, aerial bombardment and objective win/loss/retake, reinforcements and all kinds of crazy stuff.
For now, I'm just glad that I have something building that improves each time beyond, here's some new gear to work towards and once endgame is reached, play on because you love us (cough, WoW, cough) |

Patience, why? this is MAG with a new skin. not that they have to really battle alot with the core of the game. refine it yes. but it is going to be a free game with pay if you want to be competitive mentality. So if you are going to be advertising aspects that are going to be in a game then hell you should put them in. Or are you the type of person that likes the commercials more than the actual game-play? I find this game fantastic for being what it is but would have to take a stand if game dev's pull people in with false promises. |

The ads show the direction that the game wants to go and where it is going, CCP are going slowly because this is their first experience with FPS games and they need to be really careful how they do things so that nothing goes wrong with eve. You have to remember that this is uncharted territory, can you blame CCP for taking things slowly and being careful. This isn't like other games out there where the majority of the features and the core mechanics are already there and the developer is just adding stuff, Dust is still a work in progress and a lot of things need to tested before they are passed onto the player base. It wouldn't surprise me if half the things people are looking forward to aren't implemented or we have to wait a couple of years for them, CCP has a lot to do and asking them to hurry up and release things now won't help things. |

as said, old map got disabled
star map is in game, it's in the menu
there's a ton of features that's been disabled to be refined, fanfest will show you a crap ton of changes due to come. |

You didnt play MAg did you? it is the same core mechanics and they are just adding to it. Dont take this the wrong way, I have spent many hours and will spend many more playing Dust but I did the same with MAG. Just want to point out the original topic is still relevant. and look forward to what CCP can flush out. |

Ive said it before:
Waterfall is classic development methodology
Agile/Scrum is the "new wave" method.
CCP uses glacial development for eve.
Maybe Dust uses the new new version of glacial.
Geological. Things move really slowly, but eventually you end up with epic landscapes.
I think the OP has made some good points. We were promiced an equipment dev blog before CNY and a dropsuit dev blog just after. Still waiting for the equipment dev blog... |

Hey Guys, Thanks for the explanations about the maps. I was really just asking questions about this, not asking FOR these things. This is a fun game at the moment, I'm enjoying it as the bugs are worked out. I just wanted to know what happened to the maps and other features pictured in the videos. I put this to the community figuring there would be some answers out there, since I haven't been able to find anything addressing this elsewhere. I'm also hoping however that this beta doesn't drag on for a year.
Also, the Scope I was referring to was the scale, or scope of the game experience. Sorry I didn't express that very well :) |

You know not offending anyone but maybe CCP should make the BETA-WORK IN PROGRESS on top of the screen way BIGGER so people start noticing it it will save alot of explaining on the forums just saying |
