Now I got your attention,
Logistic drop ships.
I actually had one repping my madrugar last night, the rep is incredible, of course though,
He got 1 shot and slammed into the ground, due to impact not health reasons,
What's the range on these suckers? Anyone been using them much?
If we could get DS's fixed, my god these could be battle turners big time as troop and tank support.
Rep the tank while dropping out troops.......such a Vitale role in this game, but hasn't ever been fixed.
Thoughts? |

Thoughts? 2 things: One, logistic dropships don't come with Remote Reppers, they have a CRU so their name should be changed from Logistic to Tactical to stop confusing people. Secondly, remote repper range is absolute terrible! I had to sit on top of a tank to even get a reading to get the lock! However I didn't have to sit on the tank to repair him, but I couldn't leave a small bubble. |

Range is pretty limited. I only briefly played with repairing tanks from a dropship before deciding it was ridiculous. Had to basically park on top of the tank. Could lock on while hovering above but the aiming isn't very friendly and even if you fly in tiny circles while repairing, you're a big ridiculous target. Because you both need to be behind cover anyway, it's more efficient to park up entirely, get out and use repair tool. |

I'd really like to see them change DS's,
They need a serious buff, and pg cpu.
For such a vital role it plays, which honestly if they functioned they'd be more important then any other vehicle on field.
Its funny how they just keep being neglected, even their WP's have been bugged since day 1 |

Was it a Eryx or Prometheus? I feel that the Gallente dropships are more sturdier than their Caldari counter parts. I also carry repair tools with me. I have noticed I get 3 - 5 seconds more to start repping my Gorgons than my Vipers which means I am able to keep them alive longer. I have been in a couple of dog fights with blasters too and the Gallente comes out on top. |

+1 to this.
The derpships need to become dropships. I have lots of throwaways that are decently specked and used for corp battles. Would love to see some increase in CPU/PG. Sgt Nova Star has the best dropship I have ever seen. |

Was a Prometheus, damage didn't kill him, just the push from the swarms nailed him into the ground.
I assume from what people have posted, is because he has to be so close to lock me. |

The environment damage is friggin ridiculous. Talk about over nerf. Once I was flying a just about touched a building. My 3000 Hp gorgon went down to 0. Luckily I got out just in time to start using my repair tool and rep some of its health back. With the vipers I couldnt do that.
They need to reduce the environment damage by atleast 50% or heck 25%. IThem dropships need some surviveability.
On the other hand it is still fun crushing snipers with my derpship |

Have you seen the new dust video? DS's rep tanks.
I know they get the clone reanimation which free's up 1 slot for a repper. But the gal versions it doesn't really help |

Yeah the Logistics Dropships need to have a serious overhaul on their stats and functions. The only good thing they are for right now are redline blockade running and Lolshipping. |

I feel that CCP Blam! has great ideas for the DS on paper, but hasn't actually experienced them in game.
There are so many things like Remote Shield Repair that are great in theory, but absurdly impractical in reality. It has also been reported that he was unaware that he ordered explosive paint and had no idea DSs have been exploding due to rubbing up against objects. The Afterburner module sort of works, but you can find yourself bouncing off the ceiling and dragging on it at a pace no faster than normal flight. However the "snowstorm effect" makes it appear that the ship is still going fast. What's ridiculous is that the effect streams at you from the front of the ship even if you are moving straight up. It's a constant effect as long as the module is active and the only reason for it is to say "OMG, you are going SO FAST!" even if you aren't.
The hard flight ceiling is immersion breaking, claustrophobic, and only serves to make the ships constantly vulnerable to AV.
The Logistics ships are less useful than the standard versions.
The WP system treats them as gunships even though they the not suited for the role (since the "Great Missile Nerf").
They have neither the active or active defense systems required to fulfill their various roles on a hot battlefield (rep a tank and find yourself a much more vulnerable target than the tank). |

I was specifically responding to being rewarded for dropping people separately from being rewarded for spawning people.
Like, if I pick someone up and drop them at an objective, I get a reward for assisting in that... but I don't know how they would prevent exploitation by picking people up and dropping them repeatedly.

One of the idea's i saw floating around was to award the pilot points for whatever the guy's who dropped out of the DS did, like killing enemies, hacking the objective, basically like the squad leader commission you get when your squad carry's out order's. Of course you need to limit it, so say you only get points for what they do for 30 seconds after they drop out. |

Ya they actually are both in game already, just bugged.
I don't remember exactly what the bonus was, rep range and lock range needed.

We need to be careful about any environmental damage nerf.
Those who remember the days of bouncing dropships annihilating everyone on the ground will agree. I think the 1st bump should eradicate the shield but leave your full armor intact. If you hit the ground or a building again after that its your own fault. |

Just started playing with drop ships and HAVs. Wish I hadn't waited so long to try them out.
Regarding environmental damage, it seems high, particularly at relatively low air speed. It seems bugged though because I've seen some dudes survive pretty rough un-level landings, while myself getting rolled into a fireball for tapping a building the wrong way.
On a separate note, would love to see:
1. A heavy drop ship fit some kind of RDV-like tractor beam to extract or insert piloted LAVs/HAVs in the "burn zone". 2. Drop ship supply module that works like mobile depots for swapping fits and reload on infantry pickup. 3. Specialized armament for laser guided weapons target painted by a squad member on the ground 4. Bigger maps where drop ship is a requirement, not a luxury. :-)
Just throwing out some fun ideas. |

The landing gear is beefy, it's the sides or top of the ship that are made of balsa wood.
You can crush mercs with the gear, but don't even think of brushing a lamp post. You can tank a FG round, but bump a wall at a walking pace and it's all over.
I just want a weapon that fires lamp posts. OHK anything! |
