The grain (barley) alcohol is produced using 200-step continuous distillation designed to produce high-purity industrial ethanol. The drink is produced by diluting this alcohol with spring water and a very small amount of sugar. Although commonly called a vodka in English, in Finland it is not called a "vodka", but viina (see br+ñnnvin), although the word "vodka" is found in the label due to EU regulations.

Also I'm pretty sure that the outer range of your targetting radius is shorter than the optimals of the heavy. So unless he was right on top of you he wouldn't have appeared in that inner circle on the radar, which I think corresponds to your suit's sensors. |

You see, he WAS right on top of me. That's what makes it so funny. I mean, he was literally hugging me from behind and I didn't see him on the radar until he started firing. And in this case i mean literally as in literally.

welcome to the wonderful world of the broken profile system. you have a 90 degree of actual radar effectivness anything behind you might as well have a zero profile.
this is also another reason of why scout suits are the most worthless thing to train into as well. because it doesn't matter what profile you have you can make something appear on the map regardless of their profile and your scan. just point the reticle on the enemy and tada they will light up.
i've done it to snipers across the map lighting them up for my snipers to kill them and i was in a militia fat suit using a forge gun.

Yeah, Dropsuit Operation V alone takes a Heavy down to about 49, and a Scout's scanner is only 45 so it wouldn't take a lot.

At dropsuit command 5 and profile dampening 5 a heavy would have a profile of about 35 dB, coming in under the scouts precision of 45 dB so the Fat Ninja can actually be viable.
More likely combination would be dropsuit command 5 and profile dampening 3 ( 36 dB ) add an enhanced dampener and your get 26 dB profile on the heavy.
In order to counter this guy with your scout you would need profile analysis 3 ( scout precision of about 38 dB ) and 2 advanced precision enhancers = total precision of about 25 dB.
TL:DR Fat Ninjas are real.

Not certain if or how the signal degrades, but I have been assuming the scan radius is a hard circle, so my hunch is it would show up
Your precision of 25dB is under his profile of 30 dB, so he would be revealed once he was within your scan radius.
To recap for any newbros who may be reading :
Profile - the electronic footprint of a suit or how visible it is to sensors, lower is better, unit is decibels Precision - the accuracy of the suits sensors, lower is better, unit is decibels Radius - the range of the suits sensors, unit is meters
The system basically works with lower number wins. Simplest possible case. If your profile is lower than his precision, you stay off his radar.
Real world you have a pile of teammates roaming about all feeding data to each other, so it gets a bit more complicated but this is the fundamentals for how sensors and damps compete. |

As a "Fatty", I can tell you it is not always about profile signature. I've found that if a heavy just walks and uses cover to their advantage they can easily sneak up on those who's focus is elsewhere, put their HMG to the back of the head and SCRAMBLE! As long as you walk and don't fire or charge your weapon, it seems that you don't show up on the radar no matter what suit class you are running. Besides Dropsuit Command up to get the heavy, I have not have any skills or modules to dampen my signature...and yet...I still get the drop on people regularly. Even on corpmates who know better. |

I believe you guy get a misconception about scanning in general. From my experience. Yeah, experience, I don't really know the math or mechanic behind scanning in Dust, so I can be wrong. Scanning is not a wonder tool that make all red dot around you magically appear without exception. In order to make someone appear in your radar, you still need to somewhat look at them. Having bad scanning mean you need to literally point at him before his red triangle appear and as soon as you reticle leave him he disappear. Having good scanning mean you just need to look at general direction and all red dot in your screen will appear. Plus, their red triangle will linger for while even after they run to cover, hide behind crate or run to other side of container. You will see where he is going for awhile.
I don't think you can scan people BEHIND you AT ALL. Those time they appear is most likely due to your teammate seeing them, thus, input them to your radar. |

teams don't contribute to your radar because that would be unfair.
as for the scanning accuracy vs how close they appear it really doesn't matter, because if you are worth a **** than you will look directly at them making them appear on the radar, this is also a reason for the stealth LAVs that will run you over every now and again.
the whole system is busted and needs to be looked at completely. i'm not wasting my points to get a whole meter of being able to allows someone to pop on the radar.

it really is pathetic how bad the profile system works. As a scout who has/is specced into sensors. Your statement is incorrect. Even at my current skill lvl I can see over half of the current playerbase(except scouts) through walls within 20m or so. & it will only increase as I upgrade the associated skills. This game is more dynamic then people give it credit for, your experience with any gear will differ, based on your opponents & multiple other factors that are outside of your control. Adapt or die |

this info might be outdated by now but:
Radar/spotting actually works on a visual basis for dropsuits. as in, a dropsuit can only put something on the map if it's LOOKING at it. with the signature stats affecting whether or not even that works, and for how long they stay spotted after they break line of sight.
the exception to this would be the vehicle scanners, which effectively "look" in all directions at once. |

I'm pretty sure it's all team mates not just squad mates.
How is it unfair ? BF series spot system is also team-wide IIRC. It work isn't it ? I don't see anything wrong with team-wide shared radar. It's way better than allowing all individual to have 360 degree radar. It pretty much remove flanking/sneaking tactic and any need of situation awareness from the game. With current system, you still need your teammate to cover your back. Make it squad-only is too limited IMHO.
Necrodermis wrote: as for the scanning accuracy vs how close they appear it really doesn't matter, because if you are worth a **** than you will look directly at them making them appear on the radar, this is also a reason for the stealth LAVs that will run you over every now and again.
I'm not sure if I understand you here. Are you saying because scanning still need you to manually look at them so it's not worth your SP ? Then, it's your choice. but don't complain that your scanning suck when you don't invest SP on them.
Necrodermis wrote: the whole system is busted and needs to be looked at completely. i'm not wasting my points to get a whole meter of being able to allows someone to pop on the radar.
I wouldn't say system is busted. I believe it is working as intent. You can love it or you can hate it. But it's not a bug, it is a feature.
Necrodermis wrote: careful thinking allows my fat heavy with no profile mods at all to sneak behind enemy lines and steal that CRU right under the noses of the enemy.
This is exactly what I am saying. Scanning system isn't a spell that magically do the work for you. Investing in Scanning doesn't make you immune to flanking/ambushing. Cunning players will still outsmart you and sneak behind you. |

Radar detection was probably fine (unless you suffered a bit of lag just at the wrong moment I guess). Its a case of profile dampening vs. long-range scanning. You had a bit of long-range scanning but he probably had stronger dampeners fitted, so the overall effect was still a significant dampening on your opponents' part.
Its all part of the balancing in EVE/DUST, for every advantage you can skill-up/module-fit, there is a counter to it. |

the exception to this would be the vehicle scanners, which effectively "look" in all directions at once. Again, false. Do any of you actually have any SP invested into sensor skills. Sensors aren't magic, they have a very limited range w/o mods, & the effectiveness will vary based on your & your opponents current skills & gear. They won't always work in your favor, nor should they. The OP post proves that the correct combination of skills & fitting can yield a stealth build with any DS. the exception to this would be the vehicle scanners, which effectively "look" in all directions at once. Time to invest in profile analyst OP.
how high are your skills in scanning, do you use scan mods and do they work? |

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm pretty sure that it's not actually a 360 degree radar around you.
Nearest I can tell from my testing, it's like a 120 degree arc (Essentially anything that would be in your field of view, but not affected by obstructions)
I've had people and structures pop up when looking in their general direction even without line of sight, but as I turn away no longer appear.
So... Not so much an omnidirectional radar, but more of a directed thing. |

fair enough, like i said: might be outdated.
that was from a build or 2 ago. corpmates of mine stacked both teams, and just tried out ****. i'm confident that it was accurate at the time but none of us have bothered to look into it lately. |
