I'm a fatty. I also ninja ppl ass regularly. It's real.
I believe you guy get a misconception about scanning in general. From my experience. Yeah, experience, I don't really know the math or mechanic behind scanning in Dust, so I can be wrong. Scanning is not a wonder tool that make all red dot around you magically appear without exception. In order to make someone appear in your radar, you still need to somewhat look at them. Having bad scanning mean you need to literally point at him before his red triangle appear and as soon as you reticle leave him he disappear. Having good scanning mean you just need to look at general direction and all red dot in your screen will appear. Plus, their red triangle will linger for while even after they run to cover, hide behind crate or run to other side of container. You will see where he is going for awhile.
I don't think you can scan people BEHIND you AT ALL. Those time they appear is most likely due to your teammate seeing them, thus, input them to your radar. |

teams don't contribute to your radar because that would be unfair.
I'm pretty sure it's all team mates not just squad mates.
How is it unfair ? BF series spot system is also team-wide IIRC. It work isn't it ? I don't see anything wrong with team-wide shared radar. It's way better than allowing all individual to have 360 degree radar. It pretty much remove flanking/sneaking tactic and any need of situation awareness from the game. With current system, you still need your teammate to cover your back. Make it squad-only is too limited IMHO.
Necrodermis wrote: as for the scanning accuracy vs how close they appear it really doesn't matter, because if you are worth a **** than you will look directly at them making them appear on the radar, this is also a reason for the stealth LAVs that will run you over every now and again.
I'm not sure if I understand you here. Are you saying because scanning still need you to manually look at them so it's not worth your SP ? Then, it's your choice. but don't complain that your scanning suck when you don't invest SP on them.
Necrodermis wrote: the whole system is busted and needs to be looked at completely. i'm not wasting my points to get a whole meter of being able to allows someone to pop on the radar.
I wouldn't say system is busted. I believe it is working as intent. You can love it or you can hate it. But it's not a bug, it is a feature.

This is exactly what I am saying. Scanning system isn't a spell that magically do the work for you. Investing in Scanning doesn't make you immune to flanking/ambushing. Cunning players will still outsmart you and sneak behind you. |
