Not that I'm bothered. But there seems to be a lot of people complaining about getting steam rolled in ambush at the moment because once you've hit your cap, if your all about the sp's, what's the point in playing a match that takes atleast twice as long for the same reward.
Soooooo if you want a dead easy straight forward fix, half the amount of sp's in ambush or double them for skirmish. Both will have the same effect of people going Back to playing what they would have been playing before cap'ing out, and the new berries can stop getting stomped quite as hard |

True but that's in direct conflict with the spirit of the original change. Ill be honest I'm not that bothered how many sp's ahead anyone is from me, it's the skill of the merc not the skills the merc has purchased that determine the outcome of a battle. Know your limits and don't fight battles you can't win. For eg, I see sir meodes tank, I know it's a *****, do I switch to aurum weapons and have a go? No cos alone I won't scratch it, I keep my head down when it's around and cap points elsewhere. I catch a proto guy looking the wrong way, I pop a cap in his ass. If he's not looking the wrong way, I flank him so that he is |

Well my 2 ISK
Ambush : Random spawn chance and if yer screwed you spawn right next to 2 heavies & a Logi Skirmish: No random chance to get screwed over, also less pre-made squads in skirmish
So if you like playing the game and killing people Go Skirmish
If you just like SP and are doing it for SP gains, go Ambush
The difference will be that after 1000 ambushes for your SP, youll be burned out and quit, where if you play for fun and can't be bothered with the SP youll still be around in a few years.

Not gonna happen, it will just make the game more unbalanced by all the 20/7 gamers going at it full grind style, then burn out. |

or, keep some semblance of pacing, and fix matchmaking.
too many people crying to speed up progression. why not just give everyone proto everything BPO, and max skills, then rename the game "Call of DUST 514". it'll be a hit with the ladies.
stop crying. I hope CCP just either drops the soft cap to 500, or nothing with the rollover cap. I mean, there are already ppl in proto dropsuits! CCP needs to fine-tune the pacing, and get it somewhat on-par with EVE. if you want instant gratification, go play one of those kiddy FPS's, leave Dust to the true HARD, CORE gamers. |

It took me 4 years to get to carrier in eve. I think ccp needs to decide whether this is mmo or fps. Trying to balance the two against each other leaves both sides in shock |

I hit the cap and all i will get is 1000WP and because ambush is a quick game i can get many matches when compared to 1 skirmish match and thus more SP
If the community did vote for option 5 then skirmish would be more popular since you can also earn more SP because 1 WP = 1 SP so at least players would try to do better and to earn as many WP as possible instead of playing ambush or hitting 1000WP then afking in the MCC for the rest of the match
No point crying about it now you got what you voted for so HTFU and deal with it |

I don't know if it's possible, but why not have different caps for different game modes? Something like 1k for ambush and 2k for skirmish. Skirmish takes about twice as long, so you have about twice as big of a cap per match. |

guys...... removing the soft cap will hardly change ANYTHING. It just makes it so playing skirmish is a viable option, and heres my argument to defend that statement.
First: currently most of the "good" players make on average between 1000 to 1500 WP a match, for those who didn't know, the soft cap only takes into account your WP. In skirmish a good player, or tank driver could make between 2000 to 3000 WP.
Both of those ranges are numbers that could be put up consistently by the top 10% of players out there. The extreme to both cases would be the odd game where a player somehow gets 2000 WP in one ambush, and almost 4000 WP in a skirmish, but those instances are few and far between.
so without the Soft cap most people are gonna make 750 SP on average more then usual on ambush, and up to 2000 more on skirmish. But doesn't that make sense?? Skirmish generally lasts between 2 to 3 times longer then ambush. Therefore, wouldn't it make sense for a player to earn two to three times as much SP compared to ambush??
you people act like removing the SP soft cap will let us "no-lifers" skyrocket ahead of you, but in truth we probably already have skyrocketed ahead of you, letting us make a couple thousand more SP an hour isn't gonna change much in the grand scheme of things, and the only real thing it would change is bring more people back to skirmish instead of having everyone migrate back to ambush towards the end of the week. |

A proto suit isn't that much stronger then a militia suit besides a higher PG/CPU count . I don't think a rookie ship in eve online can just as easily destroy a carrier ship like what a militia suit can a proto suit.

Its not just sp, you get more isk in ambush also. Pre cap the sp/h is close enough, but you get about 75% more isk/h in ambush. Its an easy thing to fix, its just a question of current speed or slower (lower ambush or raise skirmish). All the marketing Ive seen focuses on teamplay and strategy, I honestly was shocked to see TDM at all. |

I doubt it, but Id realy like one. FFA is my favorite way to goof off, or test different weapons. Might as well throw in some gun game style gambling, this game is perfect for gambling. |

I still think having non-squad versions of ambush would be great. I rather enjoy going up against good talent on the other side, as it improves my game and gives me a fun rivalry. But when the other side has two or three full squads of different name-brand corps/players, I would have better luck surviving if I jumped off a cliff with a 200 lb rock on my back.
I think a solution that everybody can utilize now, is to play skirmish once the cappers make their way to ambush. I did this last night when both versions of ambush were streamroll central, ended up getting almost 11k SP and had quite a fun game. I had enough SP by myself for an orbital, but as usual I missed the prompt and it went to waste.
So that's fine, cappers play ambush all you want, I will just improve my ability to play skirmish when you guys move your squads to ambush. |

my point is the meta game, once you've reached a level were you want for nothing, what's to keep you coming back. And you can't deny that's what keeps you playing, because that's really what wee talking about here anyway. People who want to 'finish' the game as soon as they can, and those that think that reaching it so quickly will be detrimental to game play and longevity of dust 514 |

I think that the people who are "steam rolling," as you put it, are the same people who did it before. Now they just have more incentive to do it 24/7 instead of an hour a day. I don't care what you do to the sp, as long as there is sp, they will continue to grind it until it is no longer useful. I think we all knew this is what would happen. I don't really mind it myself. I do prefer a good battle though, so I'll leave if it looks way to lopsided to bother. No SP on either side there anyway.
That being said, why not just half the sp from an ambush map to 500? keep skirmish where it is. I play almost exclusively ambush, and it seems acceptable to me. |

I find ambushes much more fun, and you get more isk, and the same SP for time invested.
So little motivation exists to do skimerish. If they made the isk reward double it would actually be even, asides from taking forever to find anyone.

I personally don't understand why people are so obsessed with the amount of SP they're getting. To me, it's all about having fun. If people think getting SP is fun, more power to them. But I'm glad there's a cap so I don't feel hopelessly outgunned at every turn by people who are considering nothing but how they can maximize their SP gain.
I think Skirmish is fun on its own. If the way it's currently set up drives away people who are just looking to maximize their SP, then I don't think there's anything wrong with it. |
