I think for you the best thing you could do is join a good corp they will help you develope your merc and fight at your full potential , just remember to beef up your core skills before the wepon skills and youll do allot better. Dont give up the game is only 30% compleate just now there is allot more to come. ps if you have a mike drop us an application for the shadow cavalry mercenaries and we might be able to help you. Were a newly formed small crew so far mostly vets, and all of us have been playing for some time now so we have allot of collective experience that migh help you allong your way. happy hunting
To expand on this Chili, the weapons in dust are mot meant for quick kills. Dropsuits have much higher health then DPS in this game and you need to land a good number of bullets on target before you can take them down. Also guns have ranges, an optimal range where full damage is dealt and then falloff range where the more into this falloff range the less damage is does.
Another point you seemed concerned with was the weapons. One of the things to keep in mind in Dust is almost all weapons except for the AR are fairly specialised. Laser Rifles are more or less long range weapons (although not quite as long range as the sniper rifle) and they do more damage the longer you fire the weapon. So a skilled user can really do some scary damage with it but if anyone gets close to him then he will need to use his sidearm or melee because the LR damage is terrible up close. Likewise heavy suits with heavy machine guns are killer up close and can take a ton of punishment so keeping at range and using cover and flanking are key to taking them down. Thier mobility is very limited (they run as fast as you walk) so take advantage of it. There are many topics on the forums for dealing with certain opponants but joining a player corp will help with building teamwork and learning about the game.
You will die a lot. It's going to happen. But during those deaths try and learn what killed you and what happened. If a weapon is killing you a lot from a long distance then perhaps that weapon isn't suited for being up close. If you get shreded when you face a certain weapon or suit head on then try to flank or harrass them then straight up assault.
Lastly, regarding the artificer. I play a logistics myself and learning your equipment is key. Watching your allies' health and knowing where your team is is important. Playing as a sniper might actually better prepare you for playing such a class as you'll learn where the enemy tends to come from and where battles may occur. There are guides on playing logisitics but I'd suggest looking at "Logi Guide" in Training Grounds. |
