I've been playing for a couple days (I'm sorta new here ), and the Scout suit was my first option... Since then, I've been focused on develop an "Infiltrator" instead of a Sniper, and it works great.
It's fast, hard to detect and I can detect enemies more easily... Usually armed with a Shotgun (for closed areas) or an Assault Rifle and using Nova Knives as a sidearm (since the scout is quite fast, you can catch enemies easily and stab the hell out of them )
That's how I use the Scout suit so far... hope it helps you |

Please tell me why, I've been running the Type-II scout suit for two months now and I've consistently done well with it, using the loadout I have already posted in this thread. So please, enlighten me more on how my suit is horrible aside a vague statement that I'm apparently a noob.
Maybe it was a little harsh, but I like the way it sounds ^_^
How about if you use this, you are gimping yourself and not taking advantage of the class you play. If you do not take advantage of the class you play, you should find one that better fits your style of play. |

I'm not running the type-II to get more armor, I run it for the two equipment slots. As I explained earlier, I run with a combination of specialist shotgun(call it noobish or not, I don't care), remote explosives and drop uplinks to make a great objective oriented scout shotgunner. |

To each his own I guess. Personally, if I wanted a suit that's slower than type-I scout because I want to use equipment, I'd use the fast logistics suit. More equipment slots, more HP, and it's faster than an assault dropsuit.
I like optimization. If I want to do a role, I want to be the best I can be at it. I wouldn't want to run a scout suit which is better suited for a different role than equipment/tank. To me it just seems like those guys who use assault rifles and shotguns on heavy suits @.@ |

All the stealth stuff? Bah!
The shot gun + SMG combination on a scout built for speed is a winner in group engagements. I use a Dragonfly Scout Suit with a militia Shot Gun BPO and Toxin SMG, with NO WEAPON SKILLS (This character is going HAV and all my skills are into tanking). I go front line with the other units and slaughter.
The advantage of the scout suit in front line combat is clearing out enemies using cover and chasing down retreating enemies. Add the fact that I carry a remote repair tool to heal other front line units, I make an impact. Your speed is such an advantage in a group melee and everyone is shooting at other suits because "Hey, he's just a scout" you can almost literally move around the field at will without being bothered.
Oh and Heavies + Scouts, nasty combo... |

Ok, so I guess I was wrong here >.>
The Scout Suit Type-II is apparently not too bad at all with an AR. The AR can get rid of people, and some good armor reps can heal up any damage you take. It has more hp than type-I so you won't die as quickly, and an additional proto slot. The scout type-I style only gets two equipment slots at the proto level.
But type-II scout can be good. Basically there are situations where type-I style is better than type-II, and vice versa, so the best thing to do is make setups for both :P.
um yah, sorry. Thought I should correct that. I basically always run shields > armor, but some can make the armor type work.
Shotgun scout is still worse than pistol, ar, or almost any other weapon. :P |

Paper-thin Armor and Shields are your disadvantages.
Your Scout suit has a much larger Scan Radius than the other suits, letting you detect enemies much farther away. When you are walking, not sprinting, your Profile size is teeny-tiny. By training up Dropsuit Operations and Profile Dampening, you can make it even smaller. By fitting Profile Dampeners, you can get even smaller.
This means that if you move smartly, you can sometimes walk right through the heart of the enemy by using corners and cover to stay out of line-of-sight. It's hard, but doable.
Because you can run so fast and so long, Scouts also make good speed capture agents to quickly cover ground, place Drop Uplinks, and capture objectives before the enemy can.
I have a scout that carries nova knives, 2 sensor dampeners and a drop uplink. That is it. I find I can walk right up to people while they are hacking terminals, or in a fire fight without being noticed in the least. Early on in skirmish matches I stick to the edges of the map and drop uplinks for later use. I find more often than not I am totally ignored while in this scout setup.
For the blood thirsty mercs out there the lower profile + nova knives combo has netted me a fair bit of kills and assists. Now if I could just sprint and charge my knives at the same time... |
