Yes, shotgun is usually the second option for a non-sniper scout, added with the mass driver. The loadout I use involves the scout Type-II suit. The drawbacks of the suit is the slightly slower running speed and no sidearm weapon slot, but the better armor and two equipment slots make it the perfect suit for an objective oriented shotgunner. With the use of a specialist shotgun, I can run around with remote explosives and an uplink, along with a basic codebreaker and profile dampener. It is simply an awesome loadout, as you can sneak past enemy lines nearly unnoticed, hack the objective and just wait for them to try and retake it, only to blow them up with your REs.
It does require skillpoints invested on circuitry and light weapon useage to make the CPU low enough for it to be a valid loadout, even with the specialist shotgun. I still recommend it personally, and it really kicks ass when you run with a full squad.
And as a small tip, when people are shooting at you after you've hacked the null cannon and planted a remote explosive, run away with your remotes equipped. Not only will you run faster- as equipment increases running speed slightly and increase your chance of survival, you can still detonate your remotes if you go into unconcious state(the state in which you can still be revived from). I've scored several kills and probably defended many null cannons with this tactic. |

Thanks, I just figured I would share my own scout loadout with the world. |

Please tell me why, I've been running the Type-II scout suit for two months now and I've consistently done well with it, using the loadout I have already posted in this thread. So please, enlighten me more on how my suit is horrible aside a vague statement that I'm apparently a noob. |

I'm not running the type-II to get more armor, I run it for the two equipment slots. As I explained earlier, I run with a combination of specialist shotgun(call it noobish or not, I don't care), remote explosives and drop uplinks to make a great objective oriented scout shotgunner. |
