So read PS2s roadmap thing and tbh this is communication CCP http://themittani.com/features/ps2-examining-roadmap shows ppl what they can expect in the coming months and what u have planned
Currently we have none of that DUST, we have to be constantly speculating wtf ur planning to do next build etc because u dont communicate
Anyone else thinks CCP should show us a roadmap of what they have planned so we can get an idea of what their plans and thought process is for the coming months? |

It would be nice if they just showed us a general idea of what they want the game to look like in 2 years (and confirm that the PS4 is a big part of future content). I understand their reticence to broadcast their 6-24 month plans because they are subject to large changes.

Look for the end of Fanfest 2012 DUST 514 presentation panel. CCP Jian showed the roadmap of all the things even including 2013 bits. And also, CCP is very well known to not reveal plans even for EVE that much ahead. And look - EVE is alive for 10 years now.
I trust CCP to do the right thing and they showed they are listening to us. :)
Also, wanna bet 50% of those things SOE promised will not be delivered at all in time? You never promise things that far ahead :) |

Thats something thrown together to keep ppl quiet if anything, a few things in that roadmap should have been fixed and sorted out well into its beta and not well after retail release
Plus if they dont do what they say they would do according to that 'roadmap' then ppl will get pissy anyways
Speculation and rumors are more fun plus it doesnt hype the playerbase over one thing to then not see it implemneted so you have an even more angry playerbase |

I think OP needs to chill. CCP has been in in game channels and out forums and MIRC chats for months just shooting the ****. I have no idea where you get the idea we have no road map. I'm sorry it didn't come up when you goggled it but honestly if you haven't at lest tried to look for it or a CCP dev to talk to about it then you made your own hell.

I have a feeling we will get a new build before Fanfest (April would probably be the latest, hope it doesn't go that far). Including such things as vegetation, graphics overhaul, potentially new weapons, the new build will be big and will keep you entertained before the Fanfest for sure. And I agree with the points made here, we already know some bits that are coming in 2013.
Moreover, even if you knew the roadmap for Dust for the next 2 years, what would it give you? Anticipation, but nothing more. So don't repine on the gods. |

I think this is part of the problem. Every once in a while someone comes out and seems to have about 90% more of an idea of what is going on. If CCP are communicating even half of what you said outside the forums how come we can't get a sticky post from the Developers about this stuff?
Something vague like "This is what we are trying to accomplish in the next six months" and just being upfront that not everything will be done in that time.

Like I said though road map is written in mud in a hurricane.
Corporation features (at any level) was originally slated 2013 Summer and Launch Day Winter 2012.
Guess how much foot stomping cause those two to swap?
Also I only represent the IRC community at most.
There are other outlets of information from Twitter, Blogsphere, and casts and its really up to the community to raise awareness of each of these. |

Don't worry about having to buy on day 1, the number of active mercs needs to fall below the 1% magical mark for retiring the ps3 console client. So it may be a year or two afterwards. After all the ps2 was still being pumping out of factories up until 2012 December. |

Iron Wolf's roadmap sounds like something CCP would do - IIRC it took about the same amount of time for EVE Online to introduce null space and full industry. Following that roadmap, DUST seems set to act like a bubble blown inside another bubble - do what its predecessor did at about the same speed, and eventually fill the space that it's set in without bursting the "mother" bubble Even if it's a little slow, that's exactly how this kind of game needs to go - nobody's done anything like this before, so they're making sure it's done right.
EDIT: that means that, right now, we're likely in an "experimental" design phase, where CCP is testing different paradigms to see which fits better before using it as a groundwork - likely how we wound up with such a vastly different Skirmish than originally designed. That is different than technical work and bug-squashing, which is work that continues from the beginning of programming until the end of time.
RE-EDIT: If CCP has a detailed roadmap, I'd expect it to be revealed at FanFest if they choose to release it. |

No I am looking at a game I no longer have the heart to play anymore, SOE screwed over PS2 like they screwed over just about every other MMO they ever launched, Screw you SOE on SWG, PS1, and now PS2. |

dunno xfire while not accurate is a decent sampeling, the population shows it keeps dipping down and down. There are quite large number players demanding server merges from the 14 down to 7.
I joined a platoon the other day with 2 other people. a PLATOON, not a squad platoon of 3, 1 man squads.
To top it off. Planetside 1 population is growing. |

There is something absolutely wrong with planetside 2 at it's core and you're saying that every one of those features over the next 6 months is going to miraculously save the game?
The contents of the road map is nearly what I expect out of a DLC for Battlefield 3.
This is not like Dota 1 vs Dota 2 where Dota 2 overshadow its predecessor entirely and nullified every reason to go back to 1.
When planetside 2 is losing people to planetside 1 you got a major problem.
And the one game that was declared a sinking ship and abandon all hope has 5x more xfire players than Planetside 2. Star Wars the Old Republic. Why? Because they addressed the heart of the game's issues. |

Actually Planetside2 totally lacks "meta" or why you are doing what you are doing in context of the larger PS2 world. Battles seem pointless.
That is no excuse to ignore the pretty amazing technical work of the huge epic battles that PS2 has that Dust totally lacks.
It's also no excuse to ignore CCP's failure to give adequate vision for where the game is going.
The "meta" of Dust514 doesn't even exist at this point. We are all dreaming of some fantastical spot it's going to arrive at in some unknown number of months or years.
CCP has given very poor signalling of its intentions as to timing and scope of what they have been hinting at... |

Gee I wonder why I listed the non-steam game... especially ones significantly more popular on other platforms. None the less steam is a good scatter shotgun survey as it covers the average player where xfire is a bit widely inaccurate.
Also like I said, auto-join squads shouldn't be putting me into 'combined' groups smaller than dust 514 squads but they do. Sizes of fronts formed shouldn't be smaller than dust 514 team sizes either but they are... Also genuine cheaters are still quite prevalent in the game.Getting killed by people in the floor is no fun at all.
Secondly don't put words in my mouth or I will hurt you more... matter fact I will right now.
132+ minor things wrong with dust 514 most of them from my own experience and by no means is the list complete.

I played the beta when it was about to end. I enjoyed it at first, then i asked myself why i was fighting. Turns out i had no answer. I didnt push much further as my computer is crap and i didnt have time to really invest in a platoon or else.
But as i talked to guys in my team that play it, all you gain from your conquest is very very very much like the useless contracts in MAG. And it's of no interest to me. I wont let go of Dust's promess to give me a real meaning to my fights.

Uhm duh? because SOE has a business to run and publishing active player counts can be bad for business and many companies avoid doing this. World of warcraft for example is getting harder and harder to pull numbers from.
Overall most other graphs I found where useless they quit tracking after launch day, or have some really obscure numbers that make your case look worse if interpeted the wrong way and thus not used at all as I call those bad graphs. Or that web traffic spike that show interest in the road map and by good guesstimation puts the playing population of planetside 2 at less than 100k. |

Considering you're supposed to counter post a graph proving me wrong you're sort of failing your end of the deal.
Also steam is a sample similar to polling and its quite accurate in terms of tracking where player trends are going, unless you can scientifically reasonably explain why only steam users are quitting.

Just checked the steam stats now. Today's peak log-in for EVE online is 1.092 players. That puts it below War-Z, Euro Truck SImulator, DC Universe Online, APB Reloaded and Farming Simulator 2013.
From this data I can conclude that EVE Online is dying. The Steam community have abandoned it.

Actually no, I have logically answered all of your questions with support evidence, you have stupidly grasped at thin air concepts such as the statement of Planetside 2 shutting down in 5 minutes. You're nearly breaking every bad rule in the debate book that wouldn't impress a business meeting.
As for your communications they're busy as hell as well as CCP's IA is still rather irate with the recent bad leak that the rest of the members are sworn not to repeat. Because of [CCP]Nullabor won't spill the beans on FW his project unless its approved by marketing, and [CCP]nothin today posted he is looking to see if the odd squad and odd size player battles work and from the general feel from irc conversations the server stability is their current focus. Lots of hamsters are getting sick or lost.

The debate about whether Planetside 2 will last/is any good/has issues is something you are grasping at. It has nothing to do with the OP.

So, to sum it up for you, and I can't make it any simpler, we feel the Planetside 2 roadmap was a great way for the devs to keep the community up to speed with upcoming changes.
We would like to see CCP do a similar thing with Dust. A rough timeline would do.
But yet, here you are, posting meaningless graphs about player populations and all kinds of other worthless bollocks that is completely IRRELEVANT in relation to the OP.
