The only thing we've really seen of them is use in the background of a video- we know they fire on a low arc, so it's possible they're like a beefy version of the breach mass driver. |

I would actually hope so, a AV shield effective weapon needs a downside of using to prevent using it for non-av purpose to be effective so its in line with other AV weapons. |

yea sure if its a heavy varient since they should have that as a side porpuse but as a light? hay no, might aswell puch the MD aside and use the Gallante rocket, not to much diffrence to ammo anyways. |

Well a couple of things:
1) Out of sake of technicality, let's not call it dumb fire rocket, as it is called a Plasma Launcher. I believe it is dumbfire only because it can't follow a lock on anything ever. It's plasma, I highly doubt you could get a ball of plasma to follow a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed (unless you attached a supermagnet to the vehicle first)
2) The solution to this RPG problem is simple. No splash damage. Fixed. That would make it even worse than a forge for Anti infantry (in terms of practicality)
3) Instakilling: Well by the looks of the video, it has a slower travel time than the forge (not by a lot by noticeable) |

Forge: Fast (not instant) straight-line projectile, extreme damage, balanced against shield and armour (slightly better against shields).
Swarms: EXTREME slow-moving guided projectile, moderate damage, weak vs. shields, strong vs. armour.
Plasma Cannon: Moderate speed ARCING projectile, looks like less total damage than Swarms (but without being spread across multiple slightly drunk projectiles), high shield damage at the cost of reduced damage vs. armour.
There's also the fact that "pure" Plasma weapons are always short-range in EVE, and that CCP have said the Plasma Cannon will be a short-range weapon as well. I'm guessing there's a good chance it will have almost-instant falloff, and quite a fast loss of damage over range, so you'll need to be right on top of the enemy tank to be hitting as hard as we saw in the video.
Yes, it'll be useful against infantry, but probably only when you're in Shotgun range, unless you're planning to use it as a glorified Flux Grenade. |

been sayin' it since I saw it, it looks like the shotgun of AV options. freaky damage, but you gotta get right up in their face.
seems the Scout AV option has been introduced. |
