My brother just got home and jumped on the game. He had this happen to him where the screen went black and then his TV told him he had no signal which forced him to restart the PS3.
The IMPORTANT thing to note: This occured between the start of the game and when it forces you to sign into the PSN. so THIS OCCURED BEFORE HE DOWNLOADED THE LATEST UPDATE. |

Maybe, but it is the first time he has had that happen to him and the symptom is exactly like what the OP said. Screen went black and then TV said no signal input. |

There is no loss of signal to the TV, and the game runs all the way to an actual match. The game is running during the match even, you just can't actually play the match...
Actually the original poster did say loss of TV signal. You are right that these are 2 different black screen problems, but they may also be the same kind of problem. The op described a black screen with "no signal" on the TV, and everyone else is describing a normal black screen.

For a little bit of background, my PS3 is quite old and I have been getting random flicker and cut outs. I switched to a new HDMI cable which seems to have reduced that significantly. When I would start up D514 the last two days I would lose signal for one moment, then it would return and the game would run great. Now the signal just doesn't return.
Is this a problem with Dust or my PS3?
We just started a game, his 2nd match of the day, and when he spawned in his screen went black, but retained his audio. He spawned in as his 2nd class on his list, which is a raven assault suit. While in this black screen he can still see PSN notifications. When he died the screen came back, but when respawning as same class his screen was black. He was also able to open up the map one time and when he closed it it went back to black.
We are starting another battle without him restarting the game to see if it happens again or if it was just that match.
Also might be important to note: He also suffers from the Hacking/Charging glitch. |

After starting up another match without having him restart his game. He tried to spawn in as his raven assault suit again and again had the black screen. He was able to press start and the start menu appeared again and suicided his character. He then spawned in as a HEAVY suit and again had a black screen. He is restarting the game now and we shall continue to test from here. |

restarted game, but not PS3 and my brother was able to spawn in as the raven assault w/ 'Exile' AR and not get the black screen. |

Last map half of the other team and half of our team spawned w/o weapons and I would assume had the blackscreen stuff.
BTW opening the map or pressing start menu is not a complete fix, it just allows you to see that screen, but the black will come back till you restart the game. |

Re-installing the game is something that will take hours to do and we don't know if it will fix it. So he played 8 matches without getting the black screen after he re-installed. I restarted my playstation and played 10+ matches without having the blackscreen hit me. It would still affect half of the team at a time, but not me. Does this mean restarting the playstation perma fixed my problem?
