I dont know about you guys, but yesterday i played against a lot of people whom i perceived to be part of the new influx that came in after the open beta release. In my dealings with them i found that they had this weird sort of reaction when i started to shoot at them, this reactions well...... they just stand still and start shooting back. No "juking" no "strafing" no jumping or running, just standing still and taking it. Has anyone else encountered this new disease? how do you think its spreading? (because surely none of our veterans taught them that) whats the best way to cure it? is it catching on to you? i need some answers here people, because this is going to be a serious problem in the future if we dont fix it now! |

not a disease its call aiming they're acutally using FPS instinct where standing still give you the best accuracy and its true they're not use to the typical Run and gun / Spray and pray of the Dust world |

I have seen this, and it is funny to watch. In any FPS game its a sure way to get killed a lot.
I was watching a buddy snipe and when he shot at a running target it would stop and stand there and wait for him to kill them. |

Yeah, noticed it, too. They'll learn. I've watched enough people evolve as DUST players. names that I once thought of as easy kills making me work for it and even becoming threats that I respect enough to use hit and run tactics against to avoid becoming an easy kill myself. Open beta - fun times. |

Usually I try to run away from bullets. The only time you'll find me standing still while being shot at is when I respawn in front of you. |

I love it because my direct hit % with my MD has sky rocketed due to this disease. First one is usually a splash but they don't run from it they stop and just take the second and sometimes a third. |

The same happened to me yesterday while I was using my Laser Rifle... they just stand still while I fry them and they even have another syndrome... crouch! yes they crouch... I have no idea why they were doing that, I was hoping more from the new guys cuz the normal behavior when someone is shooting at you is "F*ck I need some cover!" and not "Oh... pretty lights!" *Enkidu Camuel - Laser Rifle - New player amazed by the pretty lights* |

i dont see the relation tho they come from cod and BF where running and juking is the norm the only FPS i seen where you stand still and form a firing line is world war 2 online for PC which i highly doubt they've ever played |

Sometimes they crouch too - because standing still just isn't enough.

I have actually had this problem in a game before. In the original Budakias. You would be dukin it out and then someone would pull out a charge hit and, the only thing that would go through peoples minds was pretty lights. Literally we all know pretty light punch or kick means that it is unblockable and does more damage but, we all still just stood there and got hit it was weird. We played these games for years and the problem never went away it was hilarious and still is today. |

OK, So I am one of these folks ... I am trying.
I have played Eve for 10 years. Generally, I don't like the Eve combat PVP, so I avoid it. I have a PS3. So I loaded up Dust. Bought the PS3 for my kid. I never play it. So, I played Dust last night. I had fun. I sucked, but I had fun. It is very Eve like in its mechanics. My nephew and my boys have the other two character slots. They play FPS games all the time. They absolutely love it. My nephew, who is in his twenties loves both the combat and complexity the game offers.
I wish it were available on the PC platform (everyone has one), I am not buying 3 more PS3s so we can play together. |

I think it was Unreal Tournament and Counter Strike which taught me the cons of standing still, although I find it pretty hard to aim accurately and move at the same time with the PS pad, it's just too damn small. I'm hoping the controller friction tuning which was cut from this build will be in the next one or I'll have to buy a 360 imitation pad or plug in my mouse each time. |

In games like ARMA and Battlefield the less you move the less barrel wobble you have and hip fire is a spray and pray tactic not primary firing position like in dust(I still hate hip fire in this its too easy to hit with as far as iam concerned hip fire is to lazy to aim so you should be penalized), as it is now chances are they are not used to the games mechanics limitations of what you can actually do.
Basicly standing still is the way to be most accurate in game they are used to they are focusing on hitting you therefore if they are not familiar with dusts movment system they dont realise they should hip fire and strafe at much longer ranges then they would be used to hell i know ive been there when i joined,
In case people see that as a lack of gun game or epic fail see it from their veiw they are using a tactic that works elsewhere standing still in ads other wise known as firing position is a stable firing platform far superior to moving side to side while doing same thing in both reality and in games like Battlefield, i can see one of two thing happening people coming onto forums to have movement have more effect on aim or people starting to move more when being shot at depending on the mentality of individual either addapt to a foreign mechanic or lets make it more like game of origins |

Yeah, one thing this game has in common with COD is the insta-kill mechanic. Even a proto player with tons of armor and shields can be dropped near instantly with a militia rifle if they stand still. However, what most new players fail to realize, is that some people can insta-kill from a lot further away than they can.
I find that most beginner snipers do this, they just sit there thinking they can take you out faster, which if in medium-range or closer, is a horrible mistake. Anytime I see a player not moving, is a near 100% chance of success in terms of killing them practically instantly (granted I am actually aiming halfway decent that night ). |

Basically HMG's are the hunters and everyone else is the mage is how dust works. |

This is standard for most FPS games. There are alot of people who crouch shoot for the additional accuracy not realizing that movement and having shots miss you is more important that gettng as much accuracy as you can out of your gun. If you accurate shots are missing me then what does it matter? |
