It's not COD in space. The vision and design of this game are what you should read up on. It's not intended to start and stop when you log on and off, with the only persistence being K/DR. Read and I'm sure the scope and potential will excite you. You're going to be put through the ringer for a while (time frame depends on dedication) until you start making meaningful progress, but don't give up and once you emerge from the crucible a stronger player I'm sure you will find the game very enjoyable.

Also give feedback, they have been changing a lot and it's going to change a lot more. Spawning and dying to seemingly nothing in ambush really gives new players a bad taste. At least imo. Also so you know this game is going to get a lot of updates. Gaint robot mechs, 8 man tanks, lava planets, fighter jets. I don't think it's quite at the point I would recommend it to just anyone, but even if you don't stick with it during beta, come back, your passive sp won't stop even if you take a 4-6 month break.

What does COD in space have to do with wanting a working damage indicator?

I just noticed you mention you hadn't know too much about dust so I thought I would mention it. : )
