Not sure what the mechanics are but no not everyone can see everyone's up links. We have tested this a few times on a few occasions we can see other squads uplinks but not always don't know if its a glitch or if they have advanced uplinks that allow everyone to see them. |

Youre bumping into one of three problems.
1: your link is in a bad location that makes hitting an objective difficult
2: Your teammates have had bad experiences with droplinks and assume they will be spawnkilled on one they did not place themselves.
3: Most of your team is composed of killfarmer idiots with a dim understanding of tactics.
#3 is by far the most common. I cannot count the number of times my team has been pushed back to redline with the whole enemy force killfarming. I ninja my way behind enemy lines, drop a link and start hacking for great justice. I Die when bads panic spawn on objective.. I then proceed to have a ten death running gunbattle with the enemy team who assumes we flanked them and cant find my droplink.
This usually allows the clueless blueberries to attack and take the objective I DIDN'T hit.
Go farking figure. So how many of you see this a lot?
No really, there is no possible way im the only one, im tactically stubborn, not brilliant. |

I believe more advanced links allow more of your force. I use other droplinks whenever possible, if there is a friendly or three nearby for support |

I typically dont spawn at fixed locations in ambush maps for the sole reason they're usually camped or getting bombarded, IE the guy who placed the link down has lesser IQ than those who don't use it at all. |

As far as i know the all Uplinks are for squad only. Currently the only uplinks that allow for teamspawning are the hacked uplinks that are included in the mercenary pack but not yet available in the maketplace individually.
This makes sense since the number of spawns an uplink will accomodate 10 spawn per uplink at tier I, 15 spawns at adv, and 20 spaws at proto. They have variant for std and adv that allow for 12 and 18 respectively. And other variants that allow for multiple(2 links) to be active at a time from a single player or allow for quicker spawning.
So as it is now the only ones that i know that allow for team spawning is the hacked uplink. |

I think it depends on the uplink, I know with the hacked drop uplink everyone can spawn on but on some of the other ones only tour squad will see that it is active. |

As someone who strategically places uplinks, I have to say they are severely underused. Camping spawns is no excuse as I place them in areas that would seem like a pain to get to, so unlikely.
The worst is when my team is redlined and they don't move the spawn map up to see that links are far behind enemy lines. With some of my links it makes no sense why Clone units or objectives aren't capped almost entirely thoroughout the match.
Use uplinks. They are your friends.

I don't have any problems with people spawning in on them when I use them- as long as I have people in my squad.
When you put it in a clever place within reach of an objective, people tend to use it more. I mainly use them when I'm on the southern team of manus peak, in places that allows my squad to easily sneak into A and C |

Ohhhhh, I always be clever with me uplinks. Those uncreative minds that dismiss them is my problem.
I tend to place uplink thinking I'll be the only one to use them, so I wont be disapointed. |

Some definitions of clever can be different- I'm not talking about yours, but what you squad might think. Having something extremely close to the redline usually looks safer from the map. |

you see.... the thing is that when your choosing an area to spawn in, you have to look at the actual map and choose a point via hovering over that point in the map. These maps can get pretty big, so when a team is redlined and your choosing the next place you want to spawn, you only see your MCC and main base as spawn points because thats the area your map hovers over on default (when those are the only two places you can spawn in at). Its not that the bluedots are ignoring the uplink, if they could spawn away from the kill farming then they most certainly would, its that they simply have no idea its there because the icon that symbolizes it isn't on their respawn map. (even if all you have to do is twitch your joystick to re-focus it)
CCP could fix this by adding a list on the side of the map so that people can see the available spawn points. the list would say something like.......
MCC dropzone main base dropzone Alpha dropzone tactical drop uplink 1 ect.....
this way people would be less oblivious to the spawn points that are available, and would therefore use some of the more important ones more often |

I use here and there uplinks aswell and i can confirm that uplinks can be used by blueberrys (saw that happening on ambush). Skirmish works i think aswell cause i could use uplinks from a other squad during a corp match. Sometimes i just think they are bugged. |

I"ve seen this behavior as well, always assumed it was a bug because the idea of such an undocumented restriction pains me greatly (yes even in a beta).
Hopefully the bug is fixed soon (or if not a bug, that the descriptions for all uplinks are improved to show their actual effect and new uplinks are added that can provide team wide spawns).

So in order for each player on a team in skirmish to have at least one extra spawn point, every single squad needs to have somebody with an uplink. Wow, that's pretty awful. No wonder there is so much redlining occurring.
Yet another reason to avoid skirmish. I think there is enough nails in that coffin to build a neighborhood of houses. |

I have dropped links a lot. Sometimes when I am the only member of the squad and +25 keeps rolling by the screen. I tend to do it a lot less in Skirmish but in Ambush I do it all the time. My normal first Suit is fitted with a drop link. Then I run to a second place and drop the other one with enough distance so the opposing side might cover one but not both.
Also, I know I have used other squads drop links in Skirmish come to think of it. That happened today in fact. I wonder if it a different version drop link?
The opposing Mercs cannot use your link. However the horrible spawning algorithm will put a blue berry directly in front of a red berry, stuck in a corner with no way out. Toasted Mercs, nothing better. Even better when the red is in front of the blue. |

See, now that's interesting. I'm going to try that.
The thing is...I've had corp members in diff squads but on the same team say that they can't see my droplink. But sometimes, in random games, it appears as if blues can spawn on your link. Maybe it is a bug that needs to be fixed.
I know that one of the droplinks is supposed to reduce PG/CPU usage but it still uses the same pg/cpu as the others in the same std class |

That may be a bug yes, but i do know the hacked drop uplinks from the merc pack allow team spawing, hence the hacked. Now i have never been able to spawn in on other squad member links except my own in skirmish.
In ambush i think i have spawned in on links that were not my squads but i cant say for sure.
The problem of wheter links are bugged is unless you know for sure its not a hacked link then that could also be the reason why. If its your own and your not using the links from the merc pack then yes it probably is bugged and CCP needs to look at that. Also remember what i said before they only allow for b/w 10-20 uses before they are done. |

My normal Drop Link in Skirmish is a Hacked Drop Link (less PG/CPU too). I still got some of them so I was just burning them down. Maybe I should hang onto them.

The more I read other peoples experiences I am starting think they are bugged or maybe the description is lacking some info. I also know in earlier build you could always spawn on anybodys drop links and just assumed they changed it this build. Hopefully they fix it if it is bugged because the make me mucho more points :) |

Yes an No.
I can tell for an absolute fact that there have been both cases:
- Teammates (blues) can spawn on my uplinks. I've seen it happen realtime, on map.
- Teammates (blues) can NOT see and spawn on my links. It has been veryfied by teammates on comms. Furthermore, I've personally walked around and found a blue uplink, finding happening the same way as red upllinks. After walking away, blue link disappears on minimap. After death, the link is not there to be used.
I'm assuming there is a bug (unless there is some hidden attribute within links.) |
