I noticed that a dev/gm combined threads into this one, so I won't make a new thread for it, but it'd be nice if people could help in testing. If we get a bunch of peeps writing down the difference in totals between resets it will help pinpoint the cap.
I was interested in what the last curve looked like, but now i'm really interested. I'll start keeping track with you. |

It doesn't seem like they've done anything with it. I played alot yesterday and only saw diminishing returns just like on the weekly cap.
I logged in today and basically picked up where I left off Sp making wise, doesn't seem like anything has changed, still on weekly.
A CCP description of what they did would be benficial and cease alot of these type posts/conjecturing.

Yah, no daily cap. It feels kind of like they actually lowered the weekly cap too. |

In fact yesterday alone I earned around 200k or maybe more at around 15k - 20k per match. Today however I was only earning around 5k per match with similar WP earnings. This is also the first I have heard about both a weekly and daily cap being in place. Does anyone have any word from the devs to confirm that both are in place?
This is basically what I have experienced for this week. After normal SP reset I was receiving massive SP gains all the way up to about 200k. Now Im approaching 300k and getting about 500 or 1000 if I get lucky and do pretty good during a game. So it definately appears on my end that we are on a weekly cap and that the cap is about 300k. Im not sure where the old estimate of 500k came from, but it was either wrong or was changed for Chromosome. |

The SP Cap is currently working as intended in the Chromosome Build and as stated in the patch notes.
I cannot divulge exact details on how SP Rewards are calculated but the above is definitely in effect and should help clear all the speculations. |

Maybe someone can get around to explaining why we aren't allowed to know the details of the SP system? This "daily" cap is a lot like weekly SP so far. |

Nothing I have posted is speculation, it is fact. After a quick look over the Chromosome patch notes I see no mention of the SP system or any changes to the SP system either. |

First match today 1000wp's 253sp + 126sp from booster so the SP cap might be reset daily but still effected by diminishing return's maybe? that's just speculation on my part but if true what's the point of a daily sp cap reset if diminishing return's make that reset moot |

Sorry but I dont think that's correct, today's cap wasn't reset at all. This morning average game I was earning 100/150 (onehundred, without the "K"), afternoon after daily DT average game earned me 56 SP (fiftysix I said). I'm playing NFS now.
...maybe the right reset will take place after the Asian game show ends ...I dont know...just a theory |

If this SP cap is working as intended then its BROKE.
Until this gets sorted out why would anyone invest in new SP boosters? Why Do you CCP need to make this some sorta secret?
I enjoy the SP chase as much as the game itself and I was hoping to want to buy some more skill boosters and merc pacs but honestly they are a waste of aurum. The cap is still weekly I see no change except it pays out in slower increments.
The simple answer to this problem is to have a floating Hard SP cap that increases each week so the game has a set SP pace.
Every one who gets in the game can grind till they hit the Hard SP cap, giving the new players an incintive to catch up, while allowing the hard core gamers to even take a week off here and there and grind back to the hard SP cap.
I think this would be an easy way to solve this crazy problem. I don't see to many drawbacks. The game can stay on your 7-10 year SP pace to Max skills, while allowing a carrot for new players that if they do well a chance to catch up.
At the current system you miss a week of SP you can never get it back seperating the have from the have nots even more. |

One of the biggest issues with Eve is that if you start now you can never catch up. This is a bar to many new players joining (I know this for a fact from the many gaming buddies I was unable to persuade to play Eve).
There is an opportunity in Dust to make sure this is not an issue.
If there is an SP cap which moves forward each day/week/month whatever which does not reset then new players could play with full SP until they reach the cap. This way there is always the chance for a player to dig in and grind their way to parity.
It also means you could level an alt quickly to be useful as well.
In addition it means if you don't play for a few days you can catch up.
It also accommodate those that play hard in short bursts and those that play steady.
I suspect this is not what we will see, but I really wish it was. |

I really like this idea. Its main downfall is the people that have been playing longer will say that its unfair for them to have played for X amount of time and some Joe Blow no-lifer now is equal to them in a tenth of the time. Which really brings us to the main issue of this whole topic: you cant make everyone happy. So they should just do whats best for the game and I feel like in the big picture overall, providing a way to make everyone equal as long as they earn it would be best for the game.
For example, I know that HowDidThatTaste has a really awesome HMG build. If I were to have the exact same skill points and the exact same fit that doesnt mean I have the personal skills to wield the fitting as effectively as he does. So I dont feel that giving younger players a way to catch up in SP is unfair. But like you said, we will probably never see it. |

There's no way that it's a daily cap. I was making 20k sp a game yesterday morning... this afternoon (see... more than 24 hours later and different day) am making 2k sp a game.
It's not resetting if it's supposed to be a daily cap. |

Maybe in The full game release or Open Beta, but not during closed beta when we are supposed to be testing things. as of right now there should be no cap |

Yes it does need to be balanced and tested, but not at this time. The 1st priority should be to test weapons, equipment, gameplay mechanics, and things of that nature for anything that should be buffed or nerfed or fixed. The SP system should be one of the last things tested, because that gets in the way of testing everything else. |

honestly CCP you make it somewhat not worth it to play when you give us so little points im literally hitting the hundreds by the second or third day so where you could have me stuck for a straight week you got me on for about 2 days then i feel unaccomplished by the lack of sp with my output of WP and other things..
I shouldnt be getting 36-2 566k isk and only 150 sp really??? that seems so pointless, because other mercs dont play as much you shouldnt be punishing the hardcore... this is a MMO fantasy world doesnt stop just because a few mercs arent on or there at all times.. for role playing purposes a soldier who spends more time on the field would obviously be at a advantage and more knowledgable of the world hence why our skill would be at a better level..
and if you persist with a weekly sp cap i think it should be raised substantially how does it make sense for me to get 400k-600k sp when half the gear to be somewhat decent cost about that much and that only one book... just think about your logic guys your doing something great but your gonna lose players just from the aggravation of the reward system,GG on the ISK but come on with sp |

I have searched and there only seems to be something.
It is beyond frustration to waste a day's play while getting mostly nothing for it. Then switch characters and voila! SP once again. If I knew what the numbers were and when the reset was I would just quit wasting time. My pilot needs something on the order of 800k SP. But to survive until then I am having to burn down another 200K and then the match pays out 3K SP with a bonus.
The reason I quoted Raxsus1 is how can I even get near testing good ships when SP is dribbled out with no chance of reset. If I could reset then my 2.5M SP character could be a pilot. But that is not who I want to be the pilot.

Does that mean a daily (oops weekle!) SP cap? Because one char was getting 2-3K in similar matches and I restarted with Thranx1231 and he is getting 9-10K without a booster. |
