FF would be okay with the appropriate penalties for any damage inflicted to friendlies. World of Tanks has an excellent system to emulate for this, as like in Dust, when you die in WoT it costs you credits. The bottom line is that retards like the above, who dream of TK'ing people because they think they are the ones who decide how other players play the game, need to be appropriately punished for their stupidity. Fines taken from their wallet and given to the people they kill, designation as a team killer and made an open target for anyone on any team to kill and get credit for, and finally, temporary and eventually permanent banning from the game.
Friendly fire is nice because it adds a bit more depth to the tactics to be employed. Friendly fire is bad when people use it to maliciously kill their team mates. So to achieve the former without the latter, sufficient punishment needs to go along with egregious TK'ing. If that's done, I think FF would be a valuable addition to the game. If it isn't, then morons like the above will ruin Dust as teams end up more concerned with killing each other than with killing the enemy team. |

yeah friendly fire in pub games is going to be terrible, I had a guy running LAVs into my tank yesterday because i'd killed his tank in the previous round, with FF on he'd have been hitting me with a forge gun. |

Banning TK would not be within the ideology of the New Eden universe. Backstabbing, betrayal, and subterfuge are integral parts of the way things run in the Eve/Dust universe. So TK someone and get no kill/WP/SP/ISK credit fine. But penalties, if any, should be based on sec status of the area combat occurs in and banning should never be considered. |

I kind of didn't want to write too much so I left some details out. I think the WoT system is basically perfect for Dust. That includes the exceptions. So, you wouldn't be punished for team damage/killing in any kind of corp battle situation, if you harm corp mates or people in a pre-formed squad with you, and that sort of thing.
But if you want friendly fire for Instant Battle stuff, which I guess would be "high sec" in the contrived EVE analogy people keep using for whatever reason, you need to have a serious way to deter people from repeatedly TK'ing. We'll have free rifles soon, we have free dropsuits. What would stop someone from running around in militia or free gear and just TK'ing repeatedly, without their account being at risk? Just make an alt, TK in free gear, etc.
If the only concern people have is not getting ISK or SP, friendly fire would be a failure. Team killing would be rampant. You'd need to have temporary suspensions at least, permanent most likely. If that doesn't jive with what CCP wants to do, then just leave friendly fire off except for corp wars stuff. It'd be better to have no friendly fire than to have friendly fire easily abused because there aren't real measures to deter malicious team killing. |

the thing with TKing to go off what 5x said i disagree with banning from the game. People should instead be flagged as u said for both sides to shoot....sort of like a bounty placed on the aggressors head by concord for TKing. That way hes showing up red for both sides and it turns into everyone has fair shot at him which will make the aggressors time in said match highly frustrating |

Interesting notion... giving someone who TK's or repeat TK's too often getting a match long bounty issued on them might be interesting and would give people motivation to kill them on sight or perhaps be like EVE, have each person have a Security status. The more you TK the more it drops and when it drops beneath a certain level they get turned yellow announcing them as TKers and if they continue then the sec drops so as they can't play in high sec matches anymore making them face either those who like them TK too much or those who revel in ruthless lawless battles of low/null sec. |

FF will be on in null sec. If your in hardcore matches there will be hardcore rules. CONCORD will not allow it in high sec it seems. This is probably for the best, any those who really care will likely not fight in high sec much.
For me the only debate is whether we should have FF on in FW matches or not. I am inclined to think there should be at least some FF in these matches. Something to show they have a little less restrictions than high sec matches. |

Swarms, no, probably not unless they introduce a dumb-fire mode model. But forges will definitely. You're gonna be getting a couple cobwebs in your Sagaris. |

I just can't stand the idea of a game trying to be logical within the New Eden universe that allows you to empty a magazine into your teamate without hurting him, or throw grenades or tank shells into a melee with some of your teamates, knowing that it will only kill the bad guys. That breeds inattentive habits and bad gameplay. How are we supposed to get anything done in Faction Warfare if people just pitch grenades without thinking and wipe out entire friendly squads.
If it absolutely has to be there, why not just have a system that prevents you from firing your gun when a teamate is in your crosshairs? This way you don't shoot teamates by accident, and you still get penalized for chucking grenades at friendlies, as it should be. |

In reading peoples thoughts about friendly fire I had a though about how it could be implemented differently than it is now and not feel so artificial:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=47797&find=unread
Basically add safeties to weapons that prevent the friendly fire from happening. I have no idea if this kind of thing is technically feasible, and this would only be for high sec. |

Totally read your post after putting up that thread. I agree that it would be a MUCH better option. If you are going to have friendly fire at least make it somewhat realistic.
You still end up with the issue of making this concept work with indirect and explosive weapons like mass drivers though. |

Well, I personally don't see an issue with allowing them to damage friendlies, and the applying penalties when you do so. Yes, this provides a means for people to screw up in spectacular fashion, but it also allows for them to get into the habit of not throwing grenades without paying attention to where they're going. |

I do like the security flagging on friendly fire idea.
Suggested scale for each match.
High sec / public battles. TK 3: Marker turns yellow for team mates advising them to be cautious of possible TKer. TK 5: Flagged as hostile for both teams. Marker turns orange making one a viable, and rewarding, target for everyone on the battle field.
Low sec battles. TK 2: Marker turns yellow for team mates advising them to be cautious of possible TKer. TK 3: Flagged as hostile for both teams. Marker turns orange making one a viable, and rewarding, target for everyone on the battle field.
Null sec battles. TK 1: Marker turns yellow for team mates advising them to be cautious of possible TKer.
This is just a thought for skirmish modes. I'm sure something similar could be worked out for ambush modes. Either way, FF should be on. |

I agree with CCP's idea of team killing based on security status of the system you are in. Fighting in high sec? Suffer heavy consequences (no bans though) for team killing. Fighting in low sec? Suffer some consequences. Fighting in null sec? Enjoy your murderous rampage as no one will stop you... not even... THE LAW. |
